RT-10 Disc Player
The RT-10 is a reference-quality universal disc transport
designed to play virtually any of the 5” optical media discs
available today. It supports CD (including CD-R, CD-RW,
Video CD, S-VCD, and MP-3), DVD (including DVD-Video,
DVD-Audio, DVD-R, and DVD-RW), and SACD (stereo
and multi-channel). Combining leading-edge audio and
video technology, impressive analog circuitry, and an ample
array of rear panel connectors, the RT-10 is at home in the
finest music and cinema playback systems.
Appealing
Designed to match the industrial design of Lexicon’s
award-winning home theater products, the RT-10 is the
obvious choice when contemplating a source component.
The front panel is crafted from a 1/2” thick piece of solid
aluminum, which is carefully machined and finished to
create the unique look that distinguishes Lexicon’s new
home theater line. The uncluttered front panel provides
basic controls and a blue LED display. A single piece of
aluminum covers the top, then wraps around the sides to
the bottom and is coupled to the chassis with flush
mounted machine screws. All of this results in a clean
appearance that elegantly combines form and function.
For systems utilizing an equipment rack, an optional rack
mounting kit is available.

Video
Video performance of the RT-10 befits a reference quality
product. The RT-10 features pure cinema, progressive scan
component video output, 12-bit/108MHz digital-to-analog
converters, and professional grade BNC-style component
video output connectors. Pure cinema automatically
converts the frame rate of film sources, which are
recorded at 24 frames per second, to 60 frames per
second for better picture quality. Progressive scan
component video output converts interlaced video signals
into progressive video signals, which doubles the amount of
video information being sent to a compatible display
device. The result is a more stable, flicker-free image with
fewer video artifacts. And the video digital-to-analog
converters ensure that the pristine digital video image does
not degrade during the conversion to analog.
Comprehensive video adjustments and memory locations
complement superior video performance, allowing the
RT-10 to be fine-tuned for any type of display device. In
addition, the RT-10 features a component video output
with RCA connectors for compatibility with products that
do not accept BNC connectors, two composite video
outputs, and an S-video output. With virtually any display
device, the RT-10 is capable of stunning video performance.

Audio
The RT-10 features three S/PDIF digital audio outputs. One
AES/EBU, one coaxial, and one optical connector allow for
external decoding and processing of Dolby Digital®, dts®,
and PCM sources.The RT-10 also has built-in 24-bit/192kHz
digital-to-analog converters for all six analog output
channels to allow high-bandwidth formats, such as DVD-A
and SACD, to be enjoyed in full resolution without any
reduction in the sampling rate or digital word length.
The result is pristine, high quality audio from any disc.
Intuitive
For optimal performance, the RT-10 is equipped with an
extensive array of controls and adjustments.To make setup
easier, the RT-10 includes an intuitive, graphical user
interface with color on-screen display providing convenient
access to menus. Set up is further simplified with an
on-screen setup navigator that provides step-by-step
guidance through the entire process. When the setup
navigator is activated, a series of questions appear on the
screen. Just provide the answers and the RT-10 configures
itself automatically to output the correct audio signals,
video signals, and language settings. For more in-depth
configuration, the menu can be set to the expert mode,
which provides access to all of the RT-10 features and
options. The RT-10 will also allow you to designate
frequently used features into a favorite memory location
that allows access without having to enter the menu.
At the touch of a button, the video outputs can be turned
off, eliminating any possible interference to provide the
cleanest possible audio signals.The back panel of the RT-10
has a trigger input, allowing it to be powered on and off by
an MC-12 or MC-8 digital controller. The back panel also
features an IR input, so the RT-10 can be easily integrated
into an IR-based control system without an IR repeater
attached to the front panel.

MC-12 Digital Controller

The MC-12 Digital Controller is a reference-quality,
12-channel digital control center with built-in digital audio
processing, 12 configurable inputs, and 3 zones. It is
available in balanced and unbalanced versions and an
optional rack mount kit is available.
To preserve the accuracy of the input and processing stages,
each of the 12 main audio outputs incorporates 24bit/
192kHz digital-to-analog converters operating in dual
differential mode. This design extends the signal-to-noise
ratio and dynamic range, ensuring the highest quality audio
performance. Digitally controlled analog level controls,
adjustable in .5dB increments, ensure that precise output
levels are achieved. These features enable the MC-12 to
reproduce the subtlest sonic details with stunning accuracy.
Powerful
Equipped with five digital signal processing (DSP) engines,
the MC-12 has enormous processing power. Incoming
Dolby Digital and dts signals are decoded by a Cirrus
Logic® DSP, then sent to four Analog Devices SHARC® 32bit floating-point DSPs. These extremely powerful
processors perform custom Lexicon processing including
LOGIC 7, bass enhancement, dialog enhancement, auto
azimuth, 5-speaker enhancement, bass management,
listening modes, crossovers, and tone controls. These
features are all processed in 32-bit floating-point format, at
up to 96kHz, retaining top performance from any input
source. Although the MC-12 includes tremendous
processing capabilities, three internal expansion slots make
it possible to more than quadruple its processing power.
Complementing its audio performance, the MC-12 features
two broadcast-quality video switchers. An ultra-wide
bandwidth component video switcher accepts any analog
component video input signal. An additional switcher
accommodates high-quality NTSC, PAL, or SECAM
composite and S-video input signals. Both switchers are

The MC-12 is the most accurate audio and video control
center available. Analog audio inputs are converted to
digital audio signals using high-precision 24-bit/96kHz
analog-to-digital converters, then processed internally at
96kHz. This allows analog audio inputs to access the
benefits of digital signal processing without sacrificing
sound quality. Alternatively, analog audio inputs can bypass
analog-to-digital conversion and internal processing to
remain in the analog domain all the way to the outputs.
Digital audio inputs use a two-stage phase lock loop for
extremely low intrinsic jitter with high rejection, and are
processed at their native sampling rate to eliminate the
performance trade-off of sample rate conversion. Lexicon’s
proprietary auto-azimuth technology corrects timing and
level imbalances at the input, allowing for extremely
accurate playback of surround-encoded sources. The
MC-12 includes exceptionally precise crossovers and tone
controls, which operate in the digital domain to reduce
sonic degradations. Analog crossovers and tone controls
often introduce noise and other distortions that
compromise the integrity of the signal passing through
them. Analog components also change as they age
introducing further inaccuracies not present when the
product was new. Digital processing minimizes these
anomalies and maintains performance over time. As a

The MC-12 serves as the control center for any highquality home system. More than just a audio and video
preamplifier, the MC-12 provides Dolby Digital EX™, Dolby
Pro Logic II™, dts-ES™, dts Neo:6™, and THX Surround EX™
decoding. The MC-12 also includes updated versions of
Nightclub, Concert Hall, Church, and Cathedral. THX®
Ultra certification ensures that the MC-12 meets the
performance standards set forth by Lucasfilm’s Home THX
division.
The latest version of Lexicon’s critically acclaimed
LOGIC 7 decoding is also included in a 32-bit/96kHz

floating-point implementation. LOGIC 7 creates a 7.1channel output from any 2, 5.1, or 6.1-channel input source.
Unlike other decoders, it requires no special encoding for
playback. For music recordings, LOGIC 7 increases the
sense of spaciousness in the listening room without
altering the front soundstage, providing a more realistic
recreation of the original musical event.When LOGIC 7 is
applied, two-channel film soundtracks are expanded to 7.1channels, resulting in a performance that rivals discrete
multi-channel sources. When applied to 5.1-channel
soundtracks, two additional channels are derived, delivering
a more enveloping listening experience. Because the
improvement LOGIC 7 provides is clearly audible when
compared to other decoders, it is widely recognized as the
finest surround decoder available.

Digital audio inputs accept signals that range from 16-bit/
44.1kHz to 24-bit/96kHz. An AES/EBU and an optical mini
jack connector are available to accommodate sources with
those connector types. The MC-12 is also capable of
accepting 5.1-channel and stereo analog inputs. The
5.1-channel analog input is ideal for connecting the RT-10
disc player. In addition, the balanced version includes XLR
connectors for all main and second zone audio outputs.
These are useful for applications requiring longer cable
runs and for installations susceptible to noise. To ensure
complete integration, the remote control provides several
banks of IR commands for teaching other system
controllers.The rear panel includes an IR input that allows
the MC-12 to receive commands without an IR repeater

Three DC trigger outputs are also available for control of
external devices.
The MC-12 can adapt to any listening environment, and can
be configured for any type of application. Each of the three

satellite to the VCR. The record zone can also be used to
control audio and video in a third zone if recording is not
necessary. Extensive input and speaker configuration
options introduce a wide range of possibilities. Any digital
audio, analog audio, and video input connector can be
assigned to any input. Analog audio inputs can also be
converted to digital audio signals, providing access to
digital crossovers, bass management, and tone controls.
Independent digital crossovers are available in 10Hz
increments from 30Hz to 120Hz, making it easy to choose
the appropriate crossover setting for all speakers in the
system. Three independent subwoofer outputs and
sophisticated routing provide multiple subwoofer setup
options and comprehensive bass management. For the
purist, an analog bypass option allows analog audio signals
to bypass analog-to-digital conversion and internal
processing altogether.
An intuitive user-interface with an on-screen display
provides quick access to the mode adjust, audio controls,
and setup menus. The mode adjust and audio controls
menus allow listening modes and tone controls to be
customized to suit individual preferences. The setup menu
allows the unit to be configured for optimal performance
in any system. Comprehensive bass management
automatically routes low-frequency signals to the speakers
most capable of reproducing them. The speaker distance
menu provides precise adjustment of all speaker signal
arrival times at the listening position, minimizing sonic
deficiencies that arise from less than ideal speaker
placement.

The MC-12 development team faced a formidable
challenge: Create the finest possible audio and video

soundtracks – and make it as impressive to see as it is to
hear and use. Each design element was carefully crafted to
convey a sense of elegance and strength, including the
machined aluminum front panel and volume knob, as well
as the thick aluminum chassis cover. The balanced version
also features an attractive cast aluminum base. These
elements were thoughtfully integrated into a package that
is simple to use.Three separate banks of input buttons on
the front panel provide access to all 12 inputs for each

outputs.While most other manufacturers are still working
to achieve this capability, Lexicon is looking beyond eight
channels. The MC-12 features a forward-looking
complement of twelve channels that includes seven main
audio outputs, three subwoofer outputs, and two auxiliary
outputs for expansion. In addition, four microphone inputs
are included to support future upgrade possibilities.

LX Power Amplifiers
The LX series power amplifiers are designed to deliver the
full impact of multi-channel soundtracks with exceptional
fidelity, combining tremendous dynamic range with

performance, essential qualities in today’s most advanced
multi-channel playback systems. The LX power amplifiers
are available in seven and five channel versions.
Powerful
amplifier card for each channel. These cards provide an
impressive 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Four cards
can be bridged, resulting in two astounding 400 watt
channels, in addition to the remaining 200 watt channels.
A massive toroidal power transformer and several
oversized capacitors provide ample power reserves, even
when all of the channels are delivering maximum output
simultaneously. The LX Power Amplifiers are capable of
delivering the extreme dynamics of the most demanding

Precise
The LX power amplifiers are designed to faithfully
reproduce every nuance of today’s soundtracks. Four
custom-designed, hand-graded output transistors for each
channel allow the LX power amplifiers to perform at their
best under conditions that would compromise lesser
designs. As a result, even under adverse conditions, these
amplifiers accurately reproduce the subtlest sonic details.
THX Ultra Certification ensures that the amplifiers meet
the rigorous performance standards set forth by THX’s
home division.

The LX Power Amplifiers feature Junction Temperature
Simulation advanced thermal protection. An internal
processor predicts internal transistor temperatures and
protects them from overheating, allowing the amplifiers to
achieve maximum performance with a minimum number of
very high-quality output transistors. This results in
increased performance and reliability. In addition, the LX
amplifiers feature thermal protection for each channel and
the main power transformer. The amplifiers provide DC
protection for each channel, preventing DC and
frequencies below 10Hz from damaging the speakers.All of
these technologies help to ensure maximum performance

without compromising the long-term reliability of the
product and its components. In addition, the amplifiers are
designed to protect themselves and other equipment in the
system by automatically shutting down if a short circuit,
device failure, improper wiring, or internal fault occurs.
Flexible
The LX Power Amplifiers are available in seven and five
channel versions, with outputs capable of driving 2Ω loads.
Bridgeable architecture allows the amplifiers to be
configured for as many as two 400 watt channels capable of
driving 4Ω loads. These 400 watt channels are in addition
to the remaining 200 watt channels. One application for
bridgeable architecture is for systems with less sensitive
front left and right loudspeakers. Providing more power to
these speakers can greatly enhance their performance,
especially if they are being asked to match the acoustic
output levels of more sensitive loudspeakers in the system.
Selectable balanced and unbalanced audio inputs are
available on all channels, ensuring compatibility with any
type of digital controller, such as the MC-12 or MC-8.

Heavy-duty, gold-plated speaker outputs accommodate a
wide variety of speaker wires and connectors.A rear panel
trigger input allows the LX Power Amplifiers to be
powered on and off by an external device. When this
trigger input is connected to a Lexicon digital controller,
both products will power on and off with the digital
controller power button for added convenience. The
amplifiers also feature a ground lift switch that helps
eliminate audible hum caused by multiple grounding paths
in the system.

unique industrial design that identifies the new line of
Lexicon home theater products, the MC-8 is available in
balanced and unbalanced versions and an optional rack
mounting kit is available.

The MC-8 Balanced includes balanced audio outputs for all
channels, including Zone 2. In many installations, the Digital
Controller is located in an equipment rack along with
tuners, satellite receivers, and so on which can introduce
audible interference into the system. By using balanced
audio connections between the digital controller and the
power amplifier, the potential for audio interference is
minimized. For systems utilizing amplified speakers,
balanced connections will eliminate noise introduced on
cables between the digital controller and speakers.

At the heart of the MC-8 are four Analog Devices SHARC
digital signal processing engines, one Cirrus Logic DSP
engine, and ten 24-bit/192kHz digital-to-analog converters

Connected
With formats such as DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Super
Audio CD, and High-Definition TV, the demand for input
connectors has grown. The MC-8 provides compatibility
with these formats, offering 3 component video inputs and
8 configurable analog inputs. The analog inputs can be
configured as; 8 stereo inputs, 5 stereo inputs plus one 5.1channel input, or 2 stereo inputs plus two 5.1-channel
inputs for separate DVD-A and SACD sources.
Like the MC-12, the MC-8 provides the ability to easily
upgrade its software via a rear panel RS-232 port. The
MC-8 also features 2 internal upgrade slots and 2 rear
panel access plates, which provide the ability to augment
the rear panel connections should upgrades be made
available by Lexicon.

The MC-8 uses the same intuitive on-screen menu system
and user interface as the MC-12 for navigation of the
set-up options and features. Both new users and those that
are familiar with Lexicon digital controllers will instantly
