You cannot learn humility without
humilia!on.
Give !me to !me. This is useful for us when
we have wicked thoughts about others,
wicked feeling, when we have hos!lity,
hatred, to not allow it to grow, to stop it, to
give !me to !me. Time puts things in
harmony, and makes us see things in the
right light. But if you react in a moment of
anger, it is certain you will be unjust. You will
be unjust. And you will hurt yourself, too.
Here’s some advice: !me, !me in the
moment of tempta!on.
Pride of being first leads you to want to kill
others; humility, even humilia!on, leads you
to become like Jesus. And this is one thing
that we don’t think. In this moment in which
so many of our brothers and sisters are being
martyred for the sake of Jesus’ Name, they
are in this state, they have, in this moment,
the joy of having suffered dishonor, and even
death, for the Name of Jesus. To fly from the
pride of being first, there is only the path of
opening the heart to humility, to humility
that never arrives without humilia!on. This
is one thing that is not naturally understood.
It is a grace we must ask for.
And this is the sanc!ty of the Church, this joy
that humilia!on gives, not because
humilia!on is beau!ful, no, that would be
masochism, no: it is because with that
humilia!on, you imitate Jesus.
Two
a%tudes: that of closing what brings you to
hatred, to wrath, to want to kill others; and
that of being open to God on the path of
Jesus, that makes us accept humilia!ons,
even very serious humilia!ons, with that
interior joy that makes you of being on the
path set out by Jesus.

Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley is
proud to announce the public roll-out of its
expansion & renova"on capital campaign for a
new client day center & administra"ve office to
be located at 10 South 26th Street.
Family Promise is an organiza"on dedicated to
mee"ng the emergency needs and facilita"ng
the long-term rehabilita"on of families
experiencing homelessness. Comprised of 26
local congrega"ons - an interfaith hospitality
network - families are provided for as they work
toward independent living.
