For the month of August we are
going to explore The Arts. To start the
month off we will be learning about music
and dancing. The children will get to
explore different types of music to include
classical, jazz, and classic rock. We also
have different performers who will play
music for the children. If anyone is
interested in coming and playing an
instrument for the children please let us
know. The following week we will be
learning about the Fine Arts. During this
week we will see several different famous
paintings during circle time and the
children will be given many different open
ended materials so they can create their
own masterpieces. We will also learn about
colors throughout the week. The third week
we will be focusing on Architecture. The
children will get to be architects and
builders by building with many different
types of materials. The last week of the
month we will be Actors! The children will
have many opportunities to act by using
puppets, costumes, props, etc.
Also, we are very excited to
welcome Ms. Rose to our room. We look
forward to getting to know her better!

Infant A News
This month our focus is animals. We will be imitating animal sounds and movements, feeling
different textures of fur, basing our art projects on animal shapes, and enjoying books and songs
about animals. Our baby sign this month is "Thank You" and we will be practicing this often,
especially at meal times. We are very happy to welcome Ms. Daquelle as part of our Infant A
teaching team! In the short time she has been with us she has proven to be a calming and loving
presence for our infants. Later this month we will begin to transition some of our older infants to
eating meals at a table. It's hard to believe how quickly they are growing! Enjoy this last month of
summer!

Toddler B News
Toddler B is going to the beach! August will be full of fun in the sun, sand between our toes, lots of water play
and learning all about the beach. We're excited to deck out our room to an underwater world! We'll explore
sea creatures, shells, beach balls, surfing and so much more. We even have a beach themed day in stored,
where we all wear our best beach gear! Be on the lookout for more details soon.
Ms. Jessica has decided to go back to school at GVSU to pursue a degree in Phycology start August 31st. She has
morning classes until 9:45am on Tuesdays and Thursdays so Ms. Cassie has kindly offered to come in early
those days. Other than those two days there are no other changes.
We'd also like to wish happy birthdays to Alex (August 15th) and Landri (August 25th).

Summer Fun Club News
August is here and soon school will be starting. We have had so much fun
in summer fun club this year and have really had some fun trips this past
month. Some of our up and coming trips include, Binder Park Zoo,
Holland Aquatics Center and Soccer Buddies(Jenison Soccer Zone) just to
name a few. We are said to be saying good bye to some of our support
staff as they get ready to head off back to school. If you get the chance
please make sure to say an extra thank you to Rae, Rachel, Kaitlyn and
Courtney as they head back to school over the next few weeks. They
have all been such an awesome addition to our program and have made
this summer really a great one for your children. We also want to say a
special thank you to Ronda for driving us around to these trips we get to
take on a daily basis. Ronda will be leaving us Friday, August 7th. Without
this awesome group of support staff we wouldn't have the program we
have! Here's to a great month of SFC!!!
