A vibrant art gallery
Located in the heart of Double Bay, Art2Muse Gallery attracts locals, designers, national and
international art lovers who can also view and purchase artworks online. Established in 2001
by Katrina Hampton, Art2Muse Gallery represents a diverse range of artworks from 45
established artists at an affordable price. The gallery has been operating in Double Bay since
2008 with an exciting program of regular exhibitions and provides ongoing personalised
service. In November 2014 Art2Muse Gallery was the first Australian gallery to be invited to
participate in the Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair in Turkey.
We offer a home consultation service to advise on artworks. An initial visit to your home or
office will include photographing the space and discussing your preferences. We will then
produce a catalogue of recommended artworks superimposed on your walls as a preview
before trying the pieces in your home. The $150 consultation fee is then deducted from your
first art purchase.

Christine Webb
Christine Webb has had a career as a multidiscipline artist and published author.
Having studied at Sydney College of the Arts, Christine has forged a career as an art director
in advertising and publishing, Sydney and Bangkok, and as publisher and art director of Stiletto
Magazine, the cutting edge contemporary arts magazine of the '80's.
As a full time painter for the last 10 years, Christine also teaches at Culture at Work. Christine
has spent an extensive time living abroad in Italy and regularly revisits her studio there. The
ambiance of Christine's works has a direct correlation to her studies of art history.: Australian
women artists, Grace Cossington Smith, Margaret Preston and Clarice Beckett as well as
contemporary artists such as Elizabeth Cummings.
Recent investigation of the passage of light through transparent objects and the differing light
of Italy and Australia, continues my fascination of cast shadows, homage to the still life while
referencing Italian 20th century painter Giorgio Morandi.
My art practice is a core part of who I am, an extension of my environment and the various
places I embrace as part of my belonging. I feel comfortable in my skin, at ease with myself.
Knowing who I am within my family structure has enabled me to embrace various physical
structures as part of me. Found, borrowed and bought objects and homes of family and friends
are appropriated and become part of my visual world.
I divide my time between home in Australia and home in Italy, but always, home is home,
wherever it is. This is the constant. I feel centered about my work. The centre of the home,
evoking a pleasing calm to my images but clutter and chaos are just as real.
The window is important giving over to the passage of light, the changing spaces. Outside
there may be tiled roofs and steeples, or perhaps bars or a drawn blind have created an
enclosure. The stage is set, props, flats and backdrops present the players in frozen
anticipation. Household objects are arranged in companionable discussion, or found
abandoned. The domestic pet becomes another object, a figure lies, turning toward the light.
Chairs take on a personality of their own and Chinoiserie huddle in conspiratorial groups.
Native flora exclaim the robust attitude of Australian life while delicate, Italian garden roses
reflect fragility. The domestic environment is hero, the tabletop becoming an element of design
or a perilous platform where life can sometimes slide into oblivion.
From my early life I have been surrounded by art and artists. Australian women artists are
high on the list of my current studies. The two Graces ,Crowley and Cossington Smith, the
Margarets, Preston and Olley and Clarice Beckett as well as contemporary artists such as
Elizabeth Cummings. I have also been fortunate to have drunk heavily from the rich source of
inspiration in the museums of Europe.
I have always worked with Acrylic paint. Non allergic, speedy and I can work at the dining table
if wants be with little discomfort to my family. I alternate between calculated thought processes,
executed with some precision or when the mood takes me, fast flowing instinctive expression.
Colour, tone and composition are the pillars of my work, overtaking subject in importance. Christine Webb
