President’s Message
I am pleased to welcome you to the 2015
RNFOO Gala! Thanks for joining us to celebrate
not only this year's RNFOO award winners, but
also the first 43 years of RNFOO. We are very
excited to have our Special Guest of Honour,
Stephen Lewis part of our celebration tonight.
In the last 12 months, RNFOO has awarded more
than $114,000 to 86 recipients. For the first time
ever, our Annual Award Process distributed
every award available, with a total value of
$102,000. Combined with all of the awards distributed over the previous
forty-plus years, RNFOO has assisted hundreds of nurses and nursing
students with more than a million dollars, all in support of RNFOO's mission
of enhancing and advancing nursing practice and contributing to the health
of individuals in Ontario.
I would like to thank all of you who support RNFOO - our donors, our
award sponsors, committee members and board members. Your
contributions of time and money are making a significant impact on nursing
education in our province. I hope that you will continue your connection,
and that you will share the good news about what RNFOO is
accomplishing, so we can meet even more of the need for support for
nurses and nursing students. We are doing important work.
We are excited this year to be celebrating the first winners of the RNFOO
Tribute Award. BScN student Andra Jejeran, and PN student Alexandra
Lucas, College, are the applicants selected because they "demonstrate
excellence in clinical nursing care, and describe a strong commitment to
their future professional goals". Please take a moment to read the names
of the people who have been honoured or remembered through donations
to our Tribute Fund listed in this booklet. I encourage you to think of
RNFOO as your charity of choice when you are looking to celebrate a
milestone in a friend's life, or remember a colleague who has passed away.
Your donations to the RNFOO Tribute Fund will help to keep the
contributions and accomplishments of nurses alive in our collective
consciousness and make them a part of our ongoing celebration of nurses
and nursing.
I hope you enjoy the evening, and I hope that we'll meet up here again
next year!
