Find Your Style - Widmer Brothers Brewing
THE HISTORY OF WIDMER BROTHERS
In 1984, Kurt and Rob Widmer took their homebrewing hobby, turned it into a vocation and founded
Widmer Brothers Brewing Company in Portland, Oregon. Ever since, the Widmer brothers have created
deliciously original American- and European-style beers and have overseen the entire brewing process,
from fresh grains to finished beers in the proud tradition of craft brewing.
What’s a Hefeweizen?
Pronounced “heh-fe-wei-zen,” this south German-style beer is made with 50% wheat and contains yeast that produces flavors of banana
and cloves, as well as a little hop bitterness, a dry, tart edge, some spiciness and notes of apples. In 1986, Kurt and Rob Widmer created
their own version of this classic German favorite, and the American-style Hefeweizen was born.
WIDMER BROTHERS HEFEWEIZEN
HEFEWEIZEN
Meet the beer that started it all. Our naturally cloudy flagship brew starts with the highest-quality Pacific Northwest wheat. Its bold, clean
flavor and pronounced citrus and floral aromas are what define American-style Hefeweizen.

other very light desserts like key lime pie.

American-Style India Black Ale
Most American-style India Black Ales are known for their moderate degree of caramel malt character and medium
to strong dark-roasted malt flavor and aroma, and bold hop flavor.
PITCH BLACK IPA
Pitch Black takes you to the dark side with our take on Cascadian Dark Ale, or India Black Ale. Debittered black malt lends a
midnight hue, along with a rich, toasty malt flavor. Generous doses of Alchemy and Cascade hops provide a complex herbal aroma
and subtle citrus notes, balanced by a smooth finish.
Food Pairings: Strong, spicy food, such as curry; bold, sweet desserts like carrot cake.
ABV: 6.5%

American Pale Ale (APA)
Different than their English cousins, American Pale Ales range from deep golden to copper in color. The style is characterized by floral and
citrus-like American-variety hop characters producing moderate hop bitterness, flavor, and aroma.
DRIFTER PALE ALE
ALE
Kurt and Rob Widmer have never been known to “follow the leader.” Their take on a Pale Ale is not different. With its unique
citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive combo of hops and malts, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original.

Imperial India Pale Ale
This robust style of beer is exceptionally malty with a hop profile. Also known as Double IPA, this strong style of beer was originally
brewed in England for the Russian Imperial Court of the late 1700s.
NELSON IMPERIAL IPA
IPA
Take your taste buds on a journey to the far side of the world. New Zealand’s Nelson Sauvin hop gives this beer a powerful, berry-like hop
flavor, but none of the heaviness found in other Imperial IPAs. The result is a hoppy brew with a sweet, malty character.
Food Pairings: Smoked beef brisket, grilled lamb, southern chicken-fried steak and with very sweet
desserts like carrot cake, caramel cheesecake or crème brulée.
ABV: 8.6%
IBU: 70
ROTATOR IPA SERIES
Our Rotator IPA Series is a collection of limited-time runs, featuring some of our favorite experiments in the art of IPA. Totally Widmer
Brothers, utterly unique, these beers are here today and gone tomorrow.
Double Red Ale
Double Red Ales are deep amber to dark copper in color with smooth malty flavors and fruity esters. The citrusy hop
characteristics cut through sharply but pleasantly. An alcohol complexity helps to balance out the intense flavors.
BRRR
Warm up with a cold one, or two. Our winter red ale is the perfect treat, naughty or nice. The deep red body fills your glass and a citrusy hop
aroma fills your nose. Then caramel and chocolate malts reward you with a perfectly balanced, candy-sweet flavor and velvety finish.
ABV: 7.2%
Food Pairings: Hearty holiday meals, roasted turkey, honey glazed ham, yams, sharp cheddar and blue cheeses
IBU: 50
