Summary:
Responsible for the daily activities required to run, maintain, and service the Canalta Centre and
its events. The Custodial Attendant is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the ice
surface, ice plant and arena building as well as the set up and tearing down of public and
private functions in the building The physical capability to do the work, including, but not limited
to: sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, working in cold arenas, bending, kneeling,
reaching and squatting.
Facility Cleaning, Primary Responsibilities:

General everyday cleaning and sanitation of the facility inside and out
Empty garbage receptacles trash and recyclable containers
Clean and sanitize restrooms, player’s benches, penalty box, bleachers, locker rooms,
and showers
Sweep/mop/ vacuum floors, and stairwells
Clean glass doors and windows
Restock paper towels, toilet paper, and soap dispensers regularly
Any other arena related duties to maintain a safe and clean facility

Performance of ice maintenance
Event setup and tear down
Building maintenance
Grounds maintenance
Custodial duties
Snow Removal during winter months
The safe and effective change over (Conversion) from one event to the next
Perform building opening and closing procedures; assist in providing facility security and
ensuring procedures are followed in the event of evacuation, fire alarms, injuries, etc.
Monitor the refrigeration plant in accordance with legal requirements
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skill Requirements:

High School diploma or G.E.D.
Related work experience an asset
Ability to do heavy lifting and ability to work at heights
Demonstrated familiarity with tools and maintenance equipment
Ability to develop good rapport with management, tenants, fellow employees and the
general public
Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously, working under tight
deadlines
Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic
Basic computer skills
Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member
Requires ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in
addition to normal business hours
Reliability and dependability
Adaptability; able to adapt to changes in the workplace
