The Basilica of St Patrick

Cnr Parry and Adelaide Streets, Fremantle
Directed by Nicholas Bannan, The Winthrop Singers of the University of
Western Australia (resident choir at St George’s College), make their Pipe
Organ Plus debut in Terræ, a concert in which the movements from Brumell’s
Mass for choir will alternate with Vierne’s 6th Organ Symphony. Surround
sound with a difference!
Due to public demand Dominic Perissinotto again presents two solo organ
concerts. Passion takes listeners through Christ’s life culminating in His death
and Resurrection at Easter. Remembrance concludes 2012 with a special
performance dedicated to those who have lost their lives at war.
Join in this musical celebration with some of the finest performers in WA, in
the glorious surroundings of Fremantle’s historic Basilica.

CONCERT ONE
CONCERT TWO
Paul Wright, violin, and Noeleen Wright, violoncello, mark their return in
a predominantly Romantic programme culminating in the stirring Suite
by Joseph Rheinberger, whilst saxophonist Matthew Styles and piano
accordionist Cathie Travers present a repeat performance of heart<BEAT>
written specifically for this ensemble, alongside an imaginative arrangement
of Debussy’s Children’s Corner Suite.
CONCERT THREE
2012 will see Pipe Organ Plus present five delightful Sunday afternoon
concerts between March and November. Spanning nearly 500 years, you
will revel in a breadth of music ranging from the Renaissance grandeur of
Nicolas Brumel’s soaring “Earthquake” Mass for 12-part choir, to the power
and spectacle of major organ works from Romantic virtuosos Franz Liszt and
Louis Vierne, whose music features throughout the year. Delicate nuances
of Claude Debussy and Gabriel Fauré contrast with the driving rhythms of
Western Australian composer Cathie Travers.
