and enjoy the new spray park slated for completion this
summer . Adjacent to the skate park at Callingwood the
City of Edmonton is building a fantastic spray park . The

Playground Update
The formal Project Request Form was submitted
to the City of Edmonton early January . Presently
we are at the Concept Phase . Landscape Architect,
Site Development Officer Frank Gasparik
from the City of Edmonton meet with the
redevelopment group early February . Frank
has taken data from our needs assessment and
the original project idea to use as a reference
for the creation of our concept design . He is
currently in the process of creating this plan . It is
our hope to have the concept plan available for
viewing at our AGM . Once the concept plan is
signed off the project plan is developed . October
will see application for grants and completion
of the financial strategy . We will apply for our
Neighbourhood Park Redevelopment Program
(NDPD) grant in October . The community league
has already committed $200,000 to this project .
Our Playground Project Manager had indicated
we are in a queue for development . Two reasons
are given for this . The NDPD program has been
oversubscribed in recent years and there are
already 20 playground projects deferred from last
year . Second issue is there are a limited number of
project managers to oversee these projects and the
bottom line is that it is a City fiscal management
issue . Wedgewood is ahead of some communities
as our funding is committed and there should
be no substantial change to our footprint of our
play area . We are hopeful for 2012, but prepared
for 2013 . Wedgewood appreciates the City of
Edmonton staffs that are guiding, facilitating and
supporting the redevelopment of our park . The
park redevelopment committee believes building a
great playground also builds a great neighborhood .
Casino
Wedgewood Ravine Community League is
hosting a casino Wednesday August 17, 2011 and
Thursday August 18, 2011 at the Palace Casino
West Edmonton Mall . The casino is the only
fundraising event for our community . These
funds are redeveloping the playground . The
funds also help to maintain the park area, tennis,
and basketball courts . Please support this future
playground redevelopment . As some funding for
the playground is contingent on grant applications
proceeds from this casino are vital .
Please fill out the form on the community
league page enclosed in this newsletter . Dave
Eymundson has again offered to co-ordinate the
volunteers . Please drop off the completed form to
115 Weaver Drive or mail to:
101 Wedgewood Blvd
Edmonton, Alberta T6M 2L5 .

Guidelines and Caveats
We remind all residents of the guidelines that have
been established for the benefit of our community
and which are protected by caveat . These guidelines
help maintain the integrity of our neighborhood .
Adherence to these guidelines by all members ensures
that Wedgewood Ravine maintains its visual appeal
which in turn contributes to thea value of our
properties . We specifically ask those with Recreational
Equipment and Commercial Vehicles to respect and
maintain the spirit of the guidelines with respect to
long-term parking within the community . We also ask
those replacing roofing materials to ensure they review
the guidelines as to the accepted materials . We receive
many complaints and concerns to these issues . Further
to this as discussed at the last AGM we have retained
WITTEN LLP to set out how we can make changes to
the Guidelines to allow for new roofing/construction
materials and to help us all with the enforcement of
all items within the guidelines . We will have more to
report on this progress at the AGM .
