Create more good jobs - Small local businesses are the
largest employer nationally, and in our community, provide
the most jobs to residents.
Get Better Service - Local businesses often hire people with
a better understanding of the products they are selling and
take more time to get to know customers.
Invest In Community - Local businesses are owned by
people who live in this community, are less likely to leave,
and are more invested in the community’s future.
Put Your Taxes To Good Use - Local businesses in town
centers require comparatively little infrastructure investment
and make more efficient use of public services as compared
to nationally- owned stores entering the community.

Next Membership Meeting
Due to the annual Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic,
we will not have a monthly membership meeting in September. We
invite our members and guests to join us at our golf tournament,
Thursday, September 15th, at Mystic Oak for a day of golf, followed
by dinner.
The chamber’s golf tournament is one of the oldest in the county,
and is our largest fund-raiser. This is a great opportunity to spend the
day networking!
For the full details, please see the Golf Classic registration form in
this e-magazine.
Not a golfer? You can still join us for dinner! Cost: $15
Contact the chamber at 939-5300 for more information.

Waterloo’s New City Street Maps Are In!
After months of work with Town Square Publications, the Waterloo
Chamber of Commerce is happy to report that the 2016 City of
Waterloo Street Maps have arrived! Special thanks to all of our
sponsors, who are displayed on the map. Without their financial
support, the map would not have been possible. These maps will be
available at a variety of locations, for distribution to the public. They
will also be included in all of the Welcome and Visitor packets.
If you would like to have maps available at your business, please
contact the chamber office.
Waterloo Chamber Makes Donation to Prairie du Rocher Levee Fund
The Waterloo Chamber of Commerce recently donated $500 to Prairie du Rocher towards payment for
their levee’s certification process. Currently, a balance of approximately $60,000 remains and must be paid
before the work can begin. Several chambers within the Chamber UNIFY group have decided to help
with similar donations to our Randolph County neighbor.
If the levee loses its certification, the FEMA will require property owners to purchase flood insurance on
all mortgaged property. For modest real estate mortgages, flood insurance costs could approach or exceed
the principal mortgage amount.
Unfortunately, the deadline to have the certification completed is quickly approaching.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up with more information about their need. To read more, you can visit
their Go Fund Me page at www.GoFundMe.com/SavePDRlevees.

Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Announces New
Youth Community Service Award
The Waterloo Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a new youth recognition program, to honor
our young citizens for their community service and volunteer work.
This independent community service award is designed to encourage our next generation to be involved
with our local service groups, churches, schools, and other non-profits to serve others. We acknowledge
that the majority of our most active volunteers within the community are aging, and this award is one way
to thank our young volunteers.
Here are a few guidelines for the Youth Community Service Award:
1. Nominee must be a youth enrolled in junior high or high school
2. Nominees must be a resident within the Waterloo School District (includes home and private schooled
students)
3. The award is not limited to one recipient. We anticipate recognizing several youth each year.
The nomination form is available on our website, under the forms section.
(http://www.enjoywaterloo.com). Anyone may submit a nomination, but we ask that nominations come
from non-relatives of the nominee.
Winners will receive a certificate and a monetary prize, and will be recognized at the May Music &
Market Festival, which takes place on the first Saturday in May in downtown Waterloo.
The service time period for the award is April 1, 2016 – March 31, 2017. All nominations are due by April
1 of each year.
Please share the details of this recognition program with all within your business or organization who
work with the youth and would have knowledge of specific individuals’ service. If you have any
questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce at 939-5300.
Special thanks to our sponsors: Carol Vogt Insurance, Century 21-Amy Hank, George Obernagel,
LifechurchX, Midland States Bank, and Republic-Times.
Would Your Business or Organization be Willing to Sponsor the
Youth Community Service Award program?
Because we anticipate awarding multiple awards to youth each year, we are in need of multiple sponsors.
Each sponsor agrees to donate $100 to the program annually. The entire amount of your sponsorship will
be used as a monetary award to the youth who are recognized. If the situation occurs that there are more
sponsors than recipients, we will simply save the additional sponsorship funds for future awards.
Please contact the Waterloo Chamber for more information on sponsoring this new program. Thank you!

Business Spotlight
Little Caesars Pizza
Family Owned & Operated –We are a family owned and operated business with 8 locations in the Illinois
Metro East area: Waterloo, Highland, Edwardsville, Troy, Granite City, Alton, Collinsville and Shiloh,
IL. My father and Owner, Bab Njai first started with Little Caesars Pizza in 1987 as an Assistant
Manager. He worked his way up to become a District Manager supervising 5 Locations. In 1996 he
purchased his first Little Caesars Pizza in Troy, IL and eventually grew to the 8 Locations he owns today.
He instilled the values of hard work, dedication and integrity into all of his children. My brother, Bobby
and I work with him to help run the family business today. He taught us to treat every customer like you
would your family and that is what we continue to do every day. We really enjoy being part of this
community and welcoming every one of you as family. We opened up our Waterloo location in December
2013 and were very pleased with the open arms and welcoming spirits we received from this community.
We too are from a small town of Glen Carbon, IL and appreciate the genuineness and support that small
towns have to offer.
Supporting Local - We believe that giving back to the communities in which we do business is very
important and take pride in patronizing and sponsoring the many organizations that make up the
Waterloo Community. We would like to thank everyone for supporting us and offer you one of our brand
new menu items, a Free Loaded Crazy Bread Bites. (Coupon Below!)
Our Brand- Little Caesars was founded in 1959 by Mike and Marian Ilitch in Garden City, Michigan.
Today they operate in 14 countries and are one of the world’s largest pizza chains. Little Caesars has
always offered a tremendous value to its customers and was Voted “Best Value in America” for 6
consecutive years. In 2005 Little Caesars switched to Hot N’ Ready, a concept that would change the
pizza industry forever.
Hot N’ Ready – Hot N’ Ready is a concept that focuses on quality and convenience. QUALITY- Little
Caesars is very proud of the ingredients that we use. Our dough and sauce are both made fresh every day
in our stores. Our cheese contains no added preservatives and is 100% Mozzarella and Muenster cheese.
Additionally our products contain 27-41% less sodium than other national chains. CONVENIENCE -We
offer Large 14” Pepperoni Pizzas, HOT out of the oven READY when you are, ALL DAY, EVERY
DAY for just $5. We offer a variety of other Hot N’Ready products from 4-8pm including Caesar Wings,
Italian Cheese Bread, Crazy Bread and our Detroit Style Deep Dish Pizza.
Menu Items- Outside of Hot N’ Ready, we offer a variety of other pizza options including your choice of 3
different crusts, Original Round, Detroit Style Deep Dish and Thin Crust. Your choice of toppings
includes Pepperoni, Sausage, Cheese, Beef, Bacon, Ham, Onion, Green Peppers, Mushrooms Black
Olives, Banana Peppers and Jalapenos.
Hours & Location - We are located at 933 Illinois State Route 3, Waterloo, IL 62298 in front of Walmart
in the Maurices’ Shopping Center. Open 7 days a week: Sunday – Thursday 11am – 9pm; Friday and

Hospice of Southern Illinois Announces Pharmacy Residency Program
Hospice of Southern Illinois is very proud to have the honor of hosting the only PGY-2 (post-graduate, year 2)
in Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacy Residency Program housed in a hospice, in the United States. We are
pleased to introduce and welcome the full-time, on-staff, PGY-2 Pharmacy Resident, Brad Rea, PharmD. Our
patients, families and organization will directly benefit from this very special program, which is 1 of 15 in the
country and the only 1 fully funded by a hospice. Dr. Rea will play a critical role in delivering the highest
quality end-of-life care to patients and families we serve. He will also help us grow and continue providing topnotch, end-of-life care as your local, not-for-profit hospice. Brad shares in our excitement, “I am so fortunate to
be the first pharmacist employed by Hospice of Southern Illinois. Passion and empathy are two words I have
found to be excellent descriptors of the employees at this organization. This innovative position, in addition to
Hospice of Southern Illinois’ mission, to enhance the quality of life of individuals and their loved ones touched
by a terminal illness, helps to ensure patients are treated with the highest level of care. Hospice is a program
that changes the lives for all parties involved and I am ecstatic to be a part of the hospice family.”
“We have collaborated with Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville’s School of Pharmacy to implement a
niched program to benefit Hospice of Southern Illinois’ patients and organization; additionally, the experience,
knowledge and education our Pharmacist will receive has been customized to provide a genuine learning
experience and specific end-of-life care training to implement into future programs or settings,” shares Dr.
Ellen Middendorf, Medical Director of Hospice of Southern Illinois. The specialized support this program
offers to Hospice of Southern Illinois includes direct patient benefits by ensuring safe and effective medication
use, cost containment and education to our staff, patients, and families. Our pharmacist will help manage patient
profiles for streamlined symptom management to reduce side effects and control medication interactions; offer
expertise from the pharmacy field to improve our ability to reduce medication costs, including monitoring
regulation changes and determining “related” and “unrelated” medications; and finally, the access to one-on-one
education for staff, patients and families, and healthcare professionals is invaluable.
Chris Herndon, PharmD., associate professor at the SIUE School of Pharmacy, and PGY-2 Residency Program
Director added, “this novel training program will prepare pharmacists to integrate seamlessly into the hospice
interdisciplinary team and directly impact the care of those at the end of life. As medication regimens become
more complex, it makes perfect sense to add the pharmacist to the
hospice clinical team.”
Hospice of Southern Illinois is
your community not-for-profit
hospice program serving 27
counties in southern Illinois
since 1981. Our commitment at
Hospice of Southern Illinois is
to be with our patients and their
loved ones through the changing
needs of the end-of-life process
and the grief experience. For
more information about Hospice
of Southern Illinois, visit our
website, www.hospice.org, or

Scott Credit Union Donates Over $28,000 to United Way
Representatives from Scott Credit Union presented a check recently for over $28,000 to Jay Korte,
this year’s Campaign Chair for the Southwest Illinois Division of the United Way of Greater St.
Louis. The money was raised during Scott Credit Union’s 10th annual golf tournament fundraiser
held in May at The Orchards Golf Course in Belleville.
More than 100 golfers and dozens of area sponsors turned out for the golf event that raised over
$28,000. Scott Credit Union has held the tournament each year since 2007 to raise money for United
Way. For information about the 2017 tournament, contact Community Relations Supervisor Jennifer
Hess at 618-345-1111. Scott Credit Union’s annual golf tournament has raised over $165,000 in the
past 10 years.
“We were excited about the opportunity to help United Way in its efforts to help people from
throughout our area with our golf tournament and our employee campaign which will take place later
in the year,” Hess said. “This is our way of showing our support for what United Way does in our
area.”
“Credit unions are really about helping people and this is a perfect way for us to take that even a step
further,” she added.
The United Way funds nearly 200 health and human service agencies located throughout a 16-county
area in Missouri and Illinois. More than one million people in our bi-state community receive
services that strengthen families, help the elderly, keep children healthy and safe, and build stronger
neighborhoods. For more information about United Way, visit their web site at www.stl.unitedway.org.
Scott Credit Union has made giving back to its communities a major priority. The local credit union
contributed about $370,000 and its employees volunteered more than 2,400 hours to a variety of local
civic efforts throughout the region in 2015.
Scott Credit Union is open to anyone who lives or works in an 17 county area, including Madison, St.
Clair, Monroe, Randolph, Perry, Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Clinton, Marion, Bond, Macoupin,
Montgomery, Fayette, Effingham, Williamson, and Jackson counties. Anyone who lives or works in
St. Louis County, Mo., also can open accounts with SCU. Additionally, any active or retired military
also can have accounts with Scott Credit Union. Scott Credit Union currently has 15 area locations:
Scott Air Force Base, East Belleville, Fairview Heights, Collinsville, O’Fallon, Edwardsville, Waterloo,
Highland, Caseyville, West Belleville, Millstadt, Mascoutah, Troy, Wood River and its Home Office in
Edwardsville. For details on opening accounts at Scott Credit Union, visit www.scu.org.
