CARYLE'S COMMENTS
On Saturday, March 19, 2011, just when you thought
there couldn't be a more exciting time than a day featuring a
Super Full Moon that happens once every 18 years, or the
first day of Spring, or the Feast of St .Joseph, nineteen
Keystone members converged onto the Downingtown Old
Country Buffet Restaurant ready to party -- an Everybody's
Birthday Party! Lyn Ramsey certainly selected our
restaurant site very well. This particular dining
establishment had a far greater array of menu items than any
other Old Country Buffet I have experienced. Our nineteen
hungry, fun seekers included the usual suspects: Emil and Audrey Schultheisz,
Wayne and Ellen Vliet, Sue and Jody Dietz, Harvey Arter, Steve and Marty Loden,
Bea and John Buscaglia, Peg and George Spahn, Elaine and Phil Fling, Joan and Don
Weaver, and substitute hosts Vaughn and Caryle Brayton. The only stain of
disappointment on the fabric of the day was the absence of Lynn Ramsey and Tim
Bell due to the death of Mom Ramsey. Our hearts go out to the Ramsey-Bell family on
their loss of a sweet lady. Keep them in your thoughts as we approach Mother's Day.
Also, we missed Alan Kenney, who was ill that day.
The highlight of the day had to be our attendees having the thrill of being first to
see the 2011 unveiling of Emil Schultheisz's Keystone Bulletin Board masterpiece, our
entry for International's competition. Emil's labor of love involves hours of research
and thought to create the most beautiful, artistic rendering yet! The cardinal, Illinois'
state bird, sports a perky WBCCI beret as one of the focal points of the piece. As you
study our bulletin board you are rewarded with the discovery of several subtle,
humorous aspects of Emil's playful wit. Yet, his brilliance is readily and clearly
evident. All who see it are mesmerized by this end result of his efforts. Your
impressions and comments of appreciation would be welcomed by Emil, I am certain.
We are blessed with your talents, Emil.
Our luncheon group was also first to receive the most attractive, readable, and up
to date mem bership directory yet! This was courtesy of Ellen Vliet's endeavors based
on input from Alan Kenney. If there are any additions or corrections, we would be
most grateful to hear from you. What a delightful birthday surprise gift for us all--fits
all sizes, too. Thanks lots, Ellen; great job. I think kindly of you each time I use it.
Despite health challenges recently experienced by Buscaglias, Lodens, Flings,
and Weavers, they and everyone else, glowed complete with merry twinkles in their
eyes, and radiant smiles. Our Peg Spahn lived up to her title of Sunshine Chairman in
more ways than one. She lovingly gave updates about some of our other absent
members with additional help from our group. This was all the more remarkable,
since she and George were away for two months. If you are one of our members who
haven't been able to attend our events for awhile, we would love to hear from you.
We think of you, miss you, but we are mindful to not be a bother, either. Call us and
let us know how you are doing.
(Continued on next page)
(Pres Message continued from Front Page)
Steve Loden used his amazing new state of the art Apple
ipad to be our impromptu photographer. He very
graciously gave us some hands-on experience and
demonstration of what it can do. Wouldn't it be neat to
hear and see more about this from Steve and our other
"gifted techies" at future get-togethers? Let us know your
thoughts about this.
Our Everybody's Birthday Party activities included
literally a "birthday blowout". Lit candles were placed in
each one's favorite dessert and wishes were made after
the birthday song. No part of the restaurant was singed.
Several activities followed, focusing on mixing,
merriment, and the lighter side of birthday bliss.
Each attendee added a "special flavor" to our gettogether luncheon. For those we hadn't seen for a bit, it
felt more like a warm homecoming. See you down the
road, I hope.

Our Deepest Sympathy
Those of us that are able to attend the dinners in PA will
remember Lyn Ramsey’s mother, Nancy. Respectfully
known to many of us a Mom Ramsey. I received this
message mid March from Lyn.
As many of you know, my Mom fell and broke her left
hip on Thursday, 3/4. It was repaired on the 5th, but she
suffered a stroke on the 6th. It progressed and I took her
home on hospice on the 9th. She died on the 11th, in her
own bed with Tina, Pretty Girl and I there. It was very
peaceful for her. She had just turned 84 on March 7th.
Thank you. Lyn

From the Editor’s Desk
One down and more to come. Last weekend was the
maintenance rally with the Del-Mar-Va unit at the 4-H
park in Centerville MD. What a nice stretch of road
traveling through DE and MD on 301.
Felt good to finally hitch up and pull her down the
road. Even though before we left I made sure the rig was
in good shape for the trip, it makes you just a little
nervous when being checked in and your rig get a good
going over. Whew, it passed with flying colors. Only an
Airstream could do that at 36 years old.
While we were there Sue and I took a road trip
Saturday eve, to Annapolis to have dinner with Kyle, our
2nd son and his girlfriend. Annapolis was only about 30
minutes away and a really cool, bustling, city with old
world charm. Worth another visit for sure.
Keep an eye on the schedule and take advantage of
the rallies and events planned. After 11 years in the unit
it never amazes me how much fun, fellowship, and
different things to do you will encounter.
May the peace which comes from the
memories of love shared, comfort you
now and in the days ahead.
We’ll miss the R-2 rally because of our oldest
son’s wedding, but our rally schedule is full the rest of
the year. See you then.

Healthy trailer Snack
Everyone craves an afternoon or evening snack
sometime. The problem In a rig is picking something
that is easy to sore, will not spoil, can be easily made,
and is at least sort of healthy. The Presto Power Pop
meets all of these requirements. The small and lightweight
popper (only a few ounces) can be stored almost
anywhere. A supply of pop corn is also easily stored and
will not go stale for a long time. Your microwave and
the special power cup concentrator that fits into the
bottom of the unit provide the power needed to heat the
pop corn. Yes it takes a little longer, (Do Not use the
pop corn setting) but the result is very satisfying. You
may have to experiment on a few batches to get the right
time but it’s worth it. Healthy – up to you! No oil or
butter is necessary and the amount of salt you use is up
to you. We tried lightly spraying the hot pop corn with
our canola oil cooking spray and then salting. OK but
just as good with light salt on the freshly popped corn.
The power popper costs around $15 and comes with
several power popper inserts. You can get an 8 pack
container of the power cup concentrators for about $2.50
but if you use no butter, each insert is good for about 20
batches of pop corn. So get ready to feed that snack
craving and do it in a healthy way.

WEAVERS CRUISE THE PANAMA CANAL
Continued
Our last port of call before entering the canal included
a night-time tour of Panama City since we were arrived
there at 6:00pm and were scheduled to depart at 4:00am.
After a bus ride to the city, we embarked on a walking
tour through the old city; it was very interesting and the
temperature was comfortable in the low 70’s. Our guide
told us that the lowest temperature he remembers was
68. We were escorted to the police station for a bathroom
break in their one stall lavatory before heading back to
our bus. While we were waiting for the others to finish
their break, Joan wanted her picture taken with the
handsome young policeman on his segway
After leaving the canal and a day’s sailing, we reached
our last port before heading home. Cartagena, Colombia
provided us with one last chance to see old cathedrals, a
castle/fort built to protect the city from pirates (Sir
Francis Drake in 1586 for one) coming to steal their
gold, and a shopping area called The Dungeons.
Cartagena’s ―best buys‖ were emeralds, gold jewelry,
leather goods, and handicrafts.
It was a great trip very educational, but very hot most of
the time when we were off the ship and out of our buses.
And, believe it or not, one can get tired of all that good
foodand fancy dining ; after 28 days of pampering, we
were ready to head for home.
Cindy and Wilson’s SW Caravan
Hey Guys,
From Bluff, UT enroute to Page, AZ. Elevation 3745 ft.
Page is a beautiful town with lots of surrounding
mountains. We stayed at Glen Canyon NP, our sites were
overlooking Lake Powell.
First day, we took a 50 mile boating cruise on Lake
Powell. The scenery was Awesome, the water is between
is between al these spectacular mountains of all different
colors. At the half way point we hiked 1 mile to
Rainbow bridge, the worlds largest natural bridge.
Native Americans living in the region have long held the
bridge sacred.
beautiful colors. With the sunlight and the sand blowing
down from the top it gave the appearance of a star trek
transporter beam between the narrow canyon walls. Desending sand was also covering us and reeked havoc
with our camera's causing many to malfunction. Later we
were able to clear the sand from the camera and our eyes
as our focus came back on both.
After Page AZ we headed to the Grand Canyon north
rim, Elevation 8860 ft. The temperature is dropping
rapidly and the roads are curving upward. We did arrive
safely. However, the rangers weren't to happy with us.
We had their roads into the park all tied up with our rigs.
They were glad to park our last RV and didn't hesitate to
tell us. Actually the problem was with them, there were 4
people ahead of Wilson and I in line and it took 30 mins.
just to check us in. No wonder we had a problem. We all
tried to space ourselves so we don't come in together, but
they were so slow we couldn't help all getting there at the
same time. Oh well, it all worked out.
After we parked we drove up to the lodge. The back of
the lodge has a porch that overlooks (here I go again) the
most awesome sight of the Grand Canyon. We stood in
awe at the magnificent creation God made.
Second day, we went rafting from the base of the Glen
Canyon dam to Lee's ferry (1880's ferry crossing of the
Colorado river), this is also Mile 0 of the beginning of
the Grand Canyon. It was a gentle float trip on pontoon
rafts, not as exciting as white water rafting.
Third day, Clyde, Claire, Wilson and I, went golfing. It
was a very different but beautiful golf course. Walking
was not an option. There was some vertical challenging
fairways. Several holes played along a ridge several
hundred feet above the rest of the course. Afterwards, we
went to dinner at a floating restaurant.
Fourth day, we toured Antelope Canyon. We boarded
open trucks in town and then headed down into the
Canyon, what a bumpy ride that was. We stopped and
entered on foot into the Canyon (which is a slot Canyon,
very narrow, only wide enough for 2 or 3 people
abreast). The sun was shining through reflecting
