We are The Hub of the North. Thompson is
Manitoba’s third-largest city and is known for its
beauty and diversity. The City offers a wonderful

Heritage North Museum
Discover a treasure of First Nations, fur trade, mining
and other historic artifacts inside two beautiful log
buildings. The museum also houses
a Visitor Information Center, gift
shop and local artist exhibitions.

Pisew Falls
A breathtaking sight year-round, these are Manitoba’s
highest road accessible waterfalls. A short boardwalk
leads to an observation platform overlooking the
spectacular 13-metre falls. A second trail leads to the
Rotary suspension bridge, which spans the Grass River
below the falls. The bridge also leads to a rigorous 22km return hiking trail to Manitoba’s highest accessible
waterfall, Kwasitchewan Falls. Pisew Falls is located
approximately 45 minutes south of Thompson on

Super Summer Activities!
Canoeing & Kayaking
Grass River Corridor is a well mapped route that leads
through road accessible entry and exit points close to
several communities. 1.800.665.0040.
McCreedy Campground
This beautiful campground is located across the
Burntwood River north of the City on PR #391. The full
–facility campground has firewood, bathrooms,
electricity and landscaped areas for the family. A boat
launching facility and great fishing are located nearby on
the Burntwood River. Storage facilities and a shuttle
service for those traveling on to Churchill can also be

Sightseeing by Air
View the Thompson area from a float plane or go to a
fly-out fishing location with Venture Air. Phone

Tennis Courts
Tennis courts are located at both Cliff Park and the
Norplex Pool. Call 677-7952 for more information.
Thompson Golf Course
Enjoy a round of golf on this
challenging nine-hole course. There
is a driving range, equipment rentals
and licensed clubhouse which
provides meals and snacks. Open
daily from 7 am until dark, from
mid-May to mid-October. The
course is located three km north of
Thompson on PR #391 on the

Wonderful Winter Activities!
Burntwood Curling Club
Check out some curling action or enjoy curling at the
Burntwood Curling Club. The Club includes six sheets
of ice, a concession, bar and rental shop. Call the club at
677-2580 for ice time or events.
Cross-Country Skiing
Glide across groomed trails ranging from one km to six
km, on the Jack Crolly trail. Located along PR # 391
just north of the Miles Hart Bridge across from Popeye’s
restaurant (seasonal).
Great Kids Slide
Dedicated to Rotarian Otto Bindle, this ‘winter slide’ for
kids of ‘all ages’ is located at the base of Highland Tower,
274 Princeton Drive. It’s great family fun with an
excellent view of Thompson.
Fishing/Ice Fishing
Several freshwater lakes surround Thompson with some
of the best fresh water fish—Northern Pike,
Pickerel/Walleye, Lake Trout and Rainbow Trout.
Mystery Mountain Winter Park
Experience the best skiing in Manitoba with 18 alpine
runs, 20 km of cross-country ski trails and snow tubing.
The park boasts a chalet with food concessions, lounge,
rentals shop and a certified Ski and snowboard school.
Open Saturday to Monday, December until mid-April.

Enjoy the newly renovated arena
for public skating, walking track,
racket ball and other activities
throughout the year. Lace up your
skates and try out one of three

Offering equipment rentals, snacks, a lounge and

which also features a lounge with an appetizer menu.

Norplex Pool
Have a splash at the pool, which also includes a

Millennium Trail
This scenic 15-km walking and hiking trail loops
around the city, winds through the boreal forest,
and showcases many of the city’s key attractions.
Trail maps and brochures are available at City
Hall, the Recreation Complex, and the Heritage
North Museum.
Paint Lake Provincial Park and Resort
This year-round playground extends over 56,000
acres of boreal forest. Summer offerings include
more than 160 campsites, several day picnic sites,
two boat launches, a marina, hiking trails, a
baseball diamond, fishing,
a beautiful beach area, and
interpretive programming.
In the winter, visitors have
access to a toboggan hill,
outdoor skating rink, warm
up shack, miles of
snowmobile trails,
cross
-country ski trails and ice
fishing.
The park is home to
Manitoba’s largest marinaPaint Lake Resort. Paint
Lake Resort offers boat or canoe rentals, cabin
rentals, a restaurant, a lounge, and a convenience
store. There is also a major cottage development.
The park is located 32 km south of Thompson on
PTH #6 onto PR 375. For information, phone
