Thank you for your interest in raising funds
for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario
Foundation (CHEO Foundation). CHEO is very
fortunate to have the support of a loving
and caring community. The money you raise
will help fund research, buy equipment,
train staff, and add to the paediatric nature
of the hospital.
Below we have outlined some fundraising
quidelines to help make your fundraising
experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.
Special events are the responsibility of the
third party but we are available for questions
and guidance.
Guidelines and helpful tips
• Please fill out the attached form and submit to the CHEO
Foundation 415 Smyth Road Ottawa, ON K1H 8M8.
• Plan well ahead to ensure your fundraiser is successful.
• If you are holding an event, form a committee to help.
• Be aware of your audience. Who will be interested?
Tips on planning a fun and
successful fundraiser for CHEO
Application Form
• If you are fundraising in a public building be sure to get
proper clearance.
• Make sure your event is well promoted—plenty of
promotion ensures people come to your event.
• Inform the local media.
• The Foundation will offer guidance for publicity and will
help by adding your event to our special events calendar
and special events section of our Web site.
• When available, the Foundation will provide promotional
materials upon request.
• Any organization wishing to use the Foundation logo or the
Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) logo must have prior
approval from the Foundation office. The logos cannot be
altered in any way. As well, promotional materials must be
reviewed by Foundation staff before use.
• If planning to use the Foundation mascot (CHEO Bear)
please allow ample time to confirm availability.
• The CHEO Foundation is identified by the Canada
Revenue Agency as a registered charitable organization.
As a result, the CHEO Foundation may issue official tax
receipts for income purposes for donations that legally
qualify as gifts. Please consult with our staff to ensure
that your event complies with the official regulations with
respect to the issuance of tax receipts.
Lottery Services Branch. For lotteries and raffles with a
total prize value over $20,000 and all social gaming
events, the licence is issued by the Alcohol and Gaming
Commission in Toronto. In order to obtain such a licence
number, an application form must be completed by the
CHEO Foundation. Allow 4-6 weeks after the submission
of the application for final approval from the licensing
officer. No tickets are to be sold without the licence being
available for inspection. Following the event, a financial
report is required by the licensing body within 30 days.
