A word from the president
The Houston Community College Northeast cosmetology department has
expanded its program to offer a certificate course in hair weaving and braiding
at the Northline Campus, 8001 Fulton Road 77022. The 16-week program is
designed to prepare students for employment as a licensed Cosmetology Hair
Weaver/Braider. No prior experience with hair braiding or weaving is needed.
Students will learn the basic elements of design: weaving, braiding, sizing,
removal and texture as well as growth and health of virgin hair.

Participants must be 17 years of age and attend an enrollment session prior to
enrollment into the program. At the enrollment session, participants will have the

El Programa Intensivo de Inglés le ofrece a personas que no hablan Inglés un curso de
20 horas a la semana. Este curso sirve de preparación para que pueda trabajar hacia
un título universitario o para brindar oportunidades a nivel personal, profesional y las
actividades de la comunidad.
El programa ofrece cuatro niveles de enseñanza del idioma inglés en gramática,
conversación, lectura y escritura. Los estudiantes asisten a cuatro clases durante el día
y recibirán un Certificado de Finalización (Certificate of Completion) después de acabar,
con éxito, Nivel 4.

Follow these steps to get started on your career:
• Submit an application for admission at www.hccs.edu/application or at any
Admissions Center.
• Indicate on the application your “Military Status”. Visit www.hccs.edu/hccs/
future-students/veterans for detailed information on the veteran admissions
process.
• Apply for Financial Aid. Complete the free FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov to
see if you qualify to receive financial assistance.
• Send official transcripts of all previously attended colleges/universities to:
Office of Admissions & Records, P.O. Box 667517 – Houston, Texas 77266-7517
• Submit Meningitis documentation. All new students less than 30 years old are
required to show proof of receipt of bacterial meningitis vaccination dose or
booster within the last five years and at least 10 days to the start of your class.
• Attend New Student Pre-enrollment Session for students with less than 12
college level hours. Visit hccs.edu and click “Admissions/Registration Center”
to register for a session.
• Assessment testing is mandatory and must be completed prior to enrollment
for students who do not have prior college credit.
• Meet with HCC Northeast Counselor to determine testing outcomes,
prerequisite eligibility and career and program choices.

workers in the oil and gas industry. Employers find that Northeast College has been a great resource in finding skilled
workers and return to recruit students various times throughout the year.
The faculty at the HCC Northeast Energy Institute also have numerous years of experience in industry and have maintained
relationships with various industry partners who guide programs at the Energy Institute by serving as members of an
advisory committee. Students also benefit from these relationships and are able to gain industry experience through
internships, which often lead to employment at these companies.
