Lindsey case goes to grand jury
Felony charges brought against James Lindsey
by state investigators in April will go before a
Henderson County Grand Jury.
Court officials said the case was passed on to
the grand jury at Lindsey’s request during a
General Sessions court appearance yesterday.
In April, Tennessee Department of Agriculture
Public Information Officer Tom Womack confirmed that investigators with the department’s
Agricultural Crime Unit arrested James H. Lindsey, 59, of 340 Lindsey Cemetery Road, Lexington and charged him with vandalism over
$1,000, a Class D felony.
Womack said the arrest was the result of an
investigation into the clearing of an area of
Natchez Trace State Forest in the TimberlakeWildersville Road area.
Lindsey has made multiple headlines this year,
first as a potential challenger to the tenure of
incumbent County Highway Superintendent

worked on agility, ballhandling and shooting drills during the 2008 LHS Big Red Basketball camp, under the direction of LHS head coaches Terry Clement and Jeremy

Seven local youth baseball teams have earned
their shot at a state championship title.
The Dixie Youth 7/8year-old American AllStars begin playing for the
Dixie Youth state title in
that age group beginning
this week. The American
All-Stars earned their
state berth by winning the
subdistrict title and placing runner-up in their district tournament.
All three Lexington Little
League All-Star teams
have punched their tickets
to state tournament play.
The 9/10-year-olds won
their first state tournament game Sunday in
Huntingdon (see related
story, page 9). They continued state tourney play
last night against Columbia.
The 11-year-old AllStars begin state tournament action at 10:30 a.m.

board that the new Parsons substation is tentatively scheduled to be
operational by April of
next year. But Ujcich
said that date could be
moved back by TVA.

October what TVA’s
schedule is for acquiring the right-of-way
that they will need to
supply the substation,
and that could push
our completion date
back as far as 180
days,” Ujcich told the

Arnold, of Memphis,

the Infantry Basic Officer Leader
Course, Fort Benning, Georgia.
The mission of the IBOLC is to
prepare Infantry lieutenants to train
and lead Infantry platoons to fight
and win in combat.
Dams graduated in the top 20 percent of his class, making the Com-
mandant’s List, and placed 10th in
the class of 144 graduating U.S.
Army officers. Dams already has
completed his Airborne training and
is currently continuing with additional training at Ft. Benning, Ga.
He has been assigned to the 10th
Mountain Division and will be stationed at Fort Drum, N.Y. once all
Georgia-based training is completed

facility sent a representative to stay with
the youth until he was
released from the hospital

returned to the center.
Investigators also are
trying to find the person or people who
made entry into Lexington Middle School
on Monday.
Middleton said at

person

through an open window, but an inspection
of the building by

revealed that no items
appear to have been

Middleton said investigators found handprints and footprints

and inside the classroom, but the intruders have not yet been
identified.

A Message From God
Isaiah 66:1-4: Thus says God: “With heaven my throne and earth my footstool,
what house could you build me, what place could you make for my rest? All of this
(the universe) was made by my hand and all of this is mine – it is God who speaks.
But my eyes are drawn to the man of humbled and contrite spirit, who trembles at my
word. Some immolate an ox, some slaughter a man, some sacrifice a lamb, and some
strangle a dog. Some offer oblations of pig’s blood, some burn memorial incense,
and some consecrate idols. Since they elect to follow their own ways, and their souls
delight in their abominations, I in my turn will select hardships for them and bring
them what they dread; for I called and no one would answer. I spoke and they would
not listen. They did what I considered evil; they chose to do what displeases me.”
Isaiah 66:16-17: For by fire will God execute judgment, and by His sword, against
all mankind, the victims of God will be many. As for these who sanctify themselves
and purify themselves to enter the gardens, following the one in the center, who eat
the flesh of pigs, reptiles, and rats: their deeds and their thoughts shall end all at once
– it is God who speaks.
Isaiah 66:22-23: “For as the new heavens and the new earth I shall make will
endure before me – it is God who speaks – so will your name and your race endure.”

9/10s take first step toward state title

The 2008 Little League 9/10-yearold State Tournament began Friday
with a picnic for all the teams and
opening ceremonies following the
next morning. Lexington played their
first game on Sunday against
Maryville in Huntingdon.
Colin Meyer gave a stellar performance on the mound and picked up
the 11-3 win. Colby Lipscomb, Jacob
Smith and Clay Allen each went 1-1.
Tylan Johnson, Justin Blankenship
and Tyler Anderson were all 1-3.
Lexington will continue state
tournament action throughout the
remainder of the week in hopes of
maintaining their perfect record.
The 9/10s swept district touurnament play a week ago in Huntingdon. Lexington’s wins included a
10-0 shutout against Decatur Co., a
12-2 victory over Humboldt and a
16-6 win over Decatur Co. for the
district title.
