December 2015 - Absolute Fitness Goulburn
What a sensational year we have had at Absolute Fitness Goulburn. I would like to start by thanking my amazing Tem of staff and first and
foremost YOU; our amazing clients. Without your continued support and feedback we would not have reached the milestones. We have
reached.
December will see us being in our great new facilities for 3 years and with that there has been plenty of hard work, sweat, tears and yes who
would have thought water damage. Our Team has participated in numerous events throughout the year including: taking a bus load of participants to Miss Muddy in Canberra, Operation Black Hawk in Canberra, Goulburn Fun Run, Tarago Run with the Wind and Relay for Life; where
Fran and Belinda put in a massive effort and walked for 24 hours and raised $1200.
2015 has also seen Absolute Fitness become an Official Campus for AIPT (Australian Institute of Personal Trainers) and we have run three
successful intakes; all of which involved eight week blocks of practical training. If you are interested in a career in Fitness enrol now for our
February intake where you get to experience real training, in a real facility, with trainers who have current industry experience. A special
thankyou goes out to Helen, a lady who most of you might not see. She works very quietly and hard behind the scenes to ensure that all of
our book work and accounting etc. is up to date. Without Helen I would be totally lost.
Absolute Fitness has also been involved in sponsoring some Local Sporting Teams and Organisations including: Wollondilly Public School, The
Junior Stockman, Goulburn Swans, Drifters Hockey Club and the Lions Club 100 year Gallopil Row along with sponsoring and supplying Local
Schools and Businesses with Vouchers and Prizes.
Staff have continued to strive to reach personal best and with this comes change. This has seen some staff venture in to other roles including
permanent work and also seen some identify this industry is harder than what they thought and not quiet for them… early starts and late
finishes taking their toll. Our staff members strive to increase their skills to ensure you achieve the very best services possible here at Absolute Fitness. Staff regularly attend Professional Development Days and courses that are of interest to them and their profession. For example,
Bob completed an oncology massage course and introduced HICAPS to the facility . Fran start her Certificate 4 in Personal Training Brooke
and Bob completed their Certificate 4 in Training and assessment. All staff updated their First Aid Certificates. Swimming lesson demands has
also seen us put on to more instructors with hope of bigger things for this 2016. In saying this, I would like to thank our Team, past and present for all the Hard Work and Commitment they put in towards making us Goulburn’s BEST Small Business.
This year has seen Absolute Fitness Recognised for numerous Business Awards. Starting in August, Absolute Fitness was nominated for; Best
Small Business Employing 10 or less Employees, Young Entrepreneur and Excellence in Customer Service through Goulburn’s Chamber of
Commerce. Reluctantly we accepted these nominations and started the process of Elimination. Feeling honoured just be nominated was one
thing but then we made the Finals in all THREE categories: Coming first out of 29 other nominations in Excellence in Customer Service, Fiirst
out of seventeen nominations in Excellence in Small Business and first out of nine nominations for young entrepreneur The Team from
Absolute Fitness attended the Awards Night in September and cleaned up in ALL three categories. This was an amazing event and congratulations goes out to Goulburn’s Chamber of Commerce for organising such a Spectacular to recognise Local Business in our Area. Totally unaware
that this accomplishment was to be followed to a next level; Regional saw us being judged yet again; we thought this was just a Goulburn
Awards Night, no concept of how BIG these awards actually were. We received a phone call in early October announcing that we were runner
up in our Region for Young Entrepreneur and WON Best Small Business. At this point I must admit I was feeling quiet chuffed, not expecting
any of this. I work in an industry I love and am passionate about and this job is not something I do for business or personal accolade, but it
starting to show that my 14years in Business has been well worth it . So, winning the Best Small Business in the Region meant we were off to
the State Business Awards which were held at The Pavilion on Darling Harbour. From Regional to State we were culled from 174 businesses to
make the Top 15 in our State. Although we did not walk away with a trophy and don’t get me wrong I would have loved this, the whole experience has been out of this world and I’m extremely excited for next year to take Absolute Fitness to the next level.
Please note we will be closed from Wednesday 23rd December and will be re-opened on Monday 4th January, with classes re commencing on
Monday 18th January ……however just because we are not staffed doesn’t mean you can’t train. If you have reason to believe your membership may expire in this time frame, please contact us so you don’t get locked out during this time frame. We appreciate that you, our clients
also look out for the wellbeing of the Gym and others are doing the right thing and following Gym protocol. If at any time you see or feel this
is not the case please inform one of the Team.
Be sure to keep an eye out on Facebook and for flyers on upcoming events for 2016.
Again, thank you for your support and from all the Team at Absolute Fitness, may Santa be good to you and you revel in Beer, wine and good
food over Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in 2016. Merry Fitness
Paul Murdoch received his 6th Dan Black Belt on Sunday 16th August at the Zanshin Martial Arts
Dan grading at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
Paul started the Zanshin Martial Arts club in Canberra last year, after successfully running other
martial arts clubs in the area for 15 years. Zanshin has 22 locations in Canberra and Queanbeyan
with 18 instructors. It's a very popular martial art in Canberra with kids and families of all ages
training.
In the 12 months since starting Zanshin he has demonstrated an exceptional working knowledge
of martial arts techniques at all grades. Developing and teaching the curriculum and kata for
Zanshin, he has had to show a remarkable level of understanding not just of the techniques themselves, but of what best suits students at each level of training from junior white belt up to black
belt grades.
Paul's new rank as a 6th degree black belt represents that he is an elite martial artist and an experienced instructor with an impressive level of skill to pass on to his students.
He has been training in various martial arts starting as a kid in Goulburn. He has a lifelong love of
martial arts and an awe inspiring level of skill. He has always strived to maintain himself at peak
fitness and is an active and outgoing person.
Paul's students at Zanshin Martial Arts presented him with a custom made 6th Dan Black Belt
made in the USA by Eosin
Panther, world leaders in martial arts belt craftsmanship, to show
their appreciation for the work he has done building and growing a successful martial arts club.
3 other black belt students applied at the Zanshin Dan Grading to be tested for higher black belt
dan grades. It was a highly intense and challenging day for all applicants and an exciting event
for hundreds of spectators who attended to support them.
