The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) is the largest
independent, professional and educational body within the cleaning
industry with over 10,000 individual and corporate members in the UK and
Internationally.
The Institute was formed in 1961 by a group of like-minded individuals
seeking to give the cleaning industry recognition. The Institute’s founder,
Mr Eric Hill, supported by a small network of men and women, initially set
up the Institute to raise the profile of the cleaning industry as a profession
and then went on to establish educational standards.

LYRECO & THE SCHOOLS
ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD
In 2008, Lyreco launched the Lyreco For Education programme which raises funds across the Lyreco Group to
give children living in poor conditions a better access to education.
In 2015 we started a 4-year project in Madagascar with the NGO CARE.
The aim is to support 32 schools and to give better access to education for 17,000 children, in the area of
Vatomandry. This area was badly hit by the cyclone Giovana in 2012 resulting in major damages for many schools.
The project is built around 4 objectives:
to rebuild and renovate school facilities with 26 cyclone resistant classrooms
to improve the quality of education by training 128 teachers and equipping 32 schools
to increase the awareness and involvement of parents regarding the importance of school,
and to help them save & manage money
to focus on disaster prevention for future cyclones
Part of the project goal is to collect €1,000,000 to finance the objectives.
3 WAYS TO COLLECT MONEY:

Internal events: various events have taken place from
raffles to cake sales and golf days to dress down days.
Employees across the Group have embraced the
programme and raised money to support children’s futures.
Donations: ad hoc or monthly ones.
The sums donated are then doubled by Lyreco.
Our final goal is to maintain our actions in a lifelong
perspective. For that, a local steering committee, with
teachers, chiefs of the villages & parents, is set up in
each village & they are responsible for their own
education project.
