CATV / Satcom Overview
CATV / Satcom Overview
Cable television (CATV) and consumer satellite
communications (Satcom) have undergone a major transition
from what was initially a point-to-multipoint distribution
system primarily for analog video programming to two-way
communications systems supporting complex data, voice,
and analog communications. The ever-increasing demand
for higher data rates, improved quality of service and greater
reliability have spurred performance improvements in the
components which comprise these systems. Fiber to the
Home (FTTH), the Multimedia over Coax, promoted by
the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA®), RF over Glass
(RFOG), and other systems have addressed this demand for
improved end user experience.
Skyworks Solutions is pleased to offer components for these
systems, ranging from PIN switching diodes to sophisticated,
DiSEqC™-compatible multi-pole, multi-throw matrix switches,
variable attenuators, low noise amplifiers and gain blocks,
which produce high-level performance while enabling simple
circuit designs.
