ACADEMICS
Our focus on academic excellence reflects our deep desire to equip our students with the required
knowledge and skills to be global citizens. With a student- teacher ratio of 1:4, we are able to work to
perfection producing excellent results in the academic arena. The multi-cultural environment fosters
understanding, tolerance and respect for individuals irrespective of caste, colour and creed. The teachers
who prove to be favcilitators hail from various parts of India and other countries. They enrich the
learners’ experience with their proficiency and knowledge. Students work with well- designed routines
with equal importance being given to play, study and prep time. The students’ emotional and
psychological concerns are taken care of by the counselling department that works in tandem with the
other staff and mentors.
The variety of national and international curricula followed is perhaps the most unique feature of the
institution. We prepare the students for the CIPP, CLSP, ICSE, IGCSE, ISC and IB examinations. The school
is also an accredited centre for SAT and IELTS providing coaching for these tests.
The methods of instruction are constantly upgraded to follow the latest acceptable trends in the field of
education. The congenial atmosphere that is created taking into consideration the different learning
styles of every child includes the use of technology in the classrooms (SMART boards, laptops, Wi- fi
connectivity, fully equipped Computer, Science and Language labs) and employment of differentiated

CHARACTER BUILDING
Developing a complete and balanced individual involves character building.
Our young minds that are in need of positive re-inforcement, are provided
with the required guidance and favourable occasions to be able to relate to global
issues, offer solutions and take action. Opportunities for gaining membership
in Interact and Rotaract clubs, cadetship in the Sea Cadet Corps, participation
in debates, declamations, quiz shows, essay writing competitions and
involvement in spiritual development sessions undoubtedly prepare every
student to exercise his / her sense of judgement and reasoning abilities.
FINE ARTS
Music and dance that play a vital role in empowering one with imaginative
capabilities are taught at the school from the lower grades. The department
of Fine Arts trains students in eastern, western, classical, instrumental and
vocal music and Indian, contemporary and western forms of dance. Visiting
trainers conduct sessions that involve large groups of students in mega
performances to instil in them the need for teamwork and spirit of camaraderie.

CO-CURRICULAR FACILITIES
The school has always identified the need for co-curricular activities to
develop in the students a sense of leadership, self-confidence and healthy
competition. The experienced coaches and the students form a ratio of 1:37.
With 11 basketball courts, 1 football ground, 2 athletic grounds, 1 * 400m 8-lane
track and 1 * 200m 6-lane track, 10 tennis courts, 1 heated swimming pool,
6 volleyball courts, 2 rifle shooting ranges, 9 hole golf course, 30 horses
with 2 riding instructors, mountaineering courses, yoga classes and camping
expeditions and locations, Good Shepherd International School could with
pride declare herself to be conscious of the need of every child to be prepared
for life and be provided with rights and opportunities to be multi-talented.
FOOD
The school serves a blend of Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisine in
separate vegetarian and non- vegetarian dining- halls. The refectory has its
own baking unit and chocolatier. Students enjoy eating outdoors and having
barbeque parties on the lawns on special days. The school’s need for chicken,
eggs, milk and vegetables are met by the school farm located at Gudalur.

HOSPITAL
Our greatest priority is perhaps the safety of all on the campus.
To be well prepared for any kind of emergency, a hospital with resident
doctors and nurses is functional. The hospital has a boys’ and girls’ ward,
an isolation ward and an intensive care unit. Two ambulances are always
available on campus. The dental clinic is equipped with two modern dentist
chairs, and the dental problems are taken care of by a visiting orthodontist.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT
Disaster management classes are conducted at regular intervals to create
a sense of awareness of the possible dangers and disaster preparedness
among the members of the school community. There is a fully functional
fire engine on campus to assist in disaster management
MOTOR TRANSPORT POOL
An adequate number of buses, cars, trucks, multi-utility vehicles, tractors,
tippers and two-wheelers ply for the smooth and quick functioning of
the administrative needs of the school. The service-station checks
the road-worthiness of the vehicles and ensures that they are fit for
safe journeys.
ESCORT TRIPS
On escort trips, assigned teachers accompany students to various locations.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
The G.S.I.S alumni comprising 2750 old students placed in 40 countries meet
often as a batch in various cities both in India and abroad and as a body in
school once a year (Back 2 Roots), providing valuable inputs regarding
methods to be adopted for the growth of the school.
With the motive of assisting their alma mater make headway in the field
of education and meet the challenges offered in an ever-changing global
society, the alumni of GSIS constantly provides invaluable counsel and
propositions to further her plans for continual upgrading and advancement.
BACK 2 ROOTS
The reunion of the Alumni of the Good Shepherd International School,
the erstwhile Good Shepherd Public School and also of the pre-eminent
faculty that was associated with the institution during her formative years
was christened as the “Back 2 Roots” on 18th April 2009 at the Fernhill Campus.
It has been decided to mark the weekend around 20th April as the
Annual get-together - Back 2 Roots at the Good Shepherd International School
to bring the Shepherdians to relive the memories and strengthen the roots
with their alma mater and fellow Shepherdians.
