WELCOME TO NAPLES!
This “Mini-Guide” provides our convention attendees the latest
Convention Schedule and diagrams of the facilities at the Naples
Beach Hotel and Golf Club. The AHCA has enjoyed this site for two
full decades and looks forward to coming back each year. Let’s go
over some of the procedures, events and expectations of our 2014
AHCA Convention.
ID BADGES: Gotta have ‘em. Most convention events require
proof that you have paid your membership dues and convention
fee. Without having done so, you do not get a badge and you do not
get into certain key events. Badges are obtained when you register.
Badges are available for certain “guests” (family) but anyone who
is part of the hockey community must be a paid member to attend.
These badges (sponsored by CCM) will be checked starting with
Thursday night’s events.

WHICH EVENTS HAVE COSTS?: Your convention fee gets
you into all convention sessions with the following exceptions:
• Coach of the Year Celebrations (Women on Friday and Men
on Saturday) — Active Members (NCAA coaches) can attend at no
aditional costs. Their guests and all AHCA members in the Allied
or Youth-Amateur-High School classifications must pay $45 per
person for these events. ACHA (non-varsity) Members are charged
a negotiated rate through the ACHA Officers.
We accept cash, checks (payable to “AHCA”)and credit cards.
There will be receipts available for anyone who needs them.
WHAT “GOODIES” ARE GIVEN OUT?: Everyone likes
REGISTRATION OPPORTUNITIES: NCAA Division I
conferences will get a chance to receive badges at their early-week meetings. Others can take care of properly registering at
the women’s Wednesday night event (sponsored by the AWHCA
and JWHL), at Thursday morning’s Early Registration (sponsored
by Bauer) in the main lobby, or in the newer building before/during
any of the Exhibitor Socials. Non-varsity members (ACHA) should
seek out their officers for badges.
Note: Convention Fee is $175 (after March 1); dues remain:
$340 for a program’s NCAA Division I Staff (men or women)
$210 for a program’s NCAA Division II-III Staff (men or women)
$80 for an “Allied” member (someone employed in ice hockey)
$25 for a Youth - Amateur - High School member
Note: YOU MUST PAY TO GET YOUR ID BADGE! No one will be
allowed to be billed later.

gifts. We have a few items for attendees that are available
only at the Exhibitor Socials. On Thursday night, all of the speaker handouts will be distributed via a flash drive sponsored by
flexxCOACH. At Friday’s Exhibitor Social, the Convention Gift
will be distributed. This is a nice tee-shirt produced by Turfer and
sponsored by both Squad Locker and Gladiator. At Saturday’s final
Exhibitor Social, a few items will be raffled off. There will also be
a few “give-aways” at the Hockey Coaches Care Reception, sponsored by Team USA Sport Tours, Principal Financial Group and
Warrior, on Thursday night.
IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION…
The AHCA Officers and Governors are prepared to answer
any questions that you might have. Look for the “OFFICER” badge
worn by the AHCA staff.

The agenda features a number of keynote speakers and panels. Note the sessions titled, “Hot Stove Talks”: these are multiple
sessions going on at the same time in different rooms for about 20 minutes each. The speaker will repeat his or her presentation
two or perhaps three times. Members choose which session or sessions they wish to attend. The men’s coaches giving these talks have
not identified specific topics as the women’s speakers have. the men will discuss their seasons and field questions.
Please consider a donation
to “Hockey Coaches Care”
when you attend Thursday’s
reception. This fund helps
members of the amateur
hockey community in times
of need. Please buy a raffle
ticket when AHCA officers
offer them to attendees.
The varsity (NCAA) and non-varsity (ACHA)
Coach of the Year Awards will be presented on
Friday night for the women and Saturday night
for the men. Serving as emcees at the respective
dinners are Olympian Julie Chu and former
St. Lawrence head coach Joe Marsh.
Thursday’s agenda devotes a significant amount of time to NCAA
issues. For each NCAA constituency, there will be time devoted to
NCAA Playing Rules, the respective NCAA Tournament and general
issues. Also, Jack Britton and Matt Marz from the NCAA Eligibility
Center will be on site Wednesday night and all day Thursday to
answer any questions that members may have for them.

Officers and Governors strongly encourage all AHCA
Convention attendees to frequent the Trade Show

Thursday, May 1, 8:00-10:30 p.m.
Friday, May 2, 3:00-5:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
If you were unable to register at any of the early
registration opportunities, you can pick up your ID
badge and register for events such as the women’s

The official convention handouts, which contains
all the outlines from the various speakers and is
sponsored by flexxCOACH will be given out in the
form of a flash drive during Thursday night’s session.
The official convention gift, a tee-shirt provided by
SQUAD LOCKER and GLADIATOR will be given out
during Friday afternoon’s session.
Select raffle items provided by vendors will be
given out at the final session on Saturday. You must
be there to win.
IMPORTANT: Our official vendors support the
AHCA and go to great lengths and great expense to
do so. If you are approached by representatives of
businesses who are not attending the Convention as
a paid vendor, we ask that you politely refrain from
conducting on-site business with them. Many
companies will try to conduct business at the
convention without going through proper channels.
This is not fair to those that do.
Please support our vendors
