Starting at 7’30PM, Max & Sabatino MAZZIOTTI invite all of PASTA PLUS’s
interested friends to enjoy a nice aperitivo and glass of vino, along with
the chance to mingle before a detailed briefing on this year’s trip to
Abruzzo and Le Marche. Tour escort Guido ADELFIO, president of Bethesda Travel Center LLC,
will answer all of your questions. Let’s start building the excitement!

SAVE THE DATE! All participants will be invited to lift a glass in welcome at this evening’s pretrip briefing hosted by Max & Sabatino at PASTA PLUS!! Guido will be on hand to describe the
itinerary in detail and answer all of your questions about everything from electricity to passports
to climate to wardrobe to packing advice and much more!

Thursday 11 Sept 2014
Laurel – Dulles [IAD]
Meet at PASTA PLUS today at 13h45 for a greeting from Max & Rosa, Sabatino & Antonietta
before the quick ride by motorcoach to Dulles for our check in formalities. We will fly by United
966, overnight non-stop service to Rome, ETD 17h40, movie & dinner aloft!
Friday 12 Sept
Rome [FCO] – Rosciano - Pescara
ETA in Rome [FCO Airport] 08h30, with time for a quick cappu before
boarding our motorcoach for the ride crossing the Italian peninsula west-toeast, entering the region of Abruzzo. Our first stop will be Rosciano, visiting
Cantina Marramiero for a tour, degustazione wine tasting, and welcoming
lunch.
Continue then to Pescara on the Adriatic Sea, and our
lunch
accommodations at the waterfront Hotel Carlton (4-stars, 3 nights). Time
for a rest before we walk to dinner this evening. (Lunch,Dinner)
Saturday 13 Sept
Pescara – Vasto - Orsogna – Pescara
Daily hotel breakfasts each morning. Plans are being formulated for today’s excursion, which
will take us to lovely Vasto for a visit to the local town center and market. Head then to the
scenic area characterized by the Ventricina Vastese, a unique style of sausage that is only
produced in the immediate surroundings! Lunch before a to visit to Il Feuduccio winery in
Orsogna before heading back to Pescara for welcoming dinner at da
Franco. Seafood is their specialty - the restaurant is located directly
on a marina facing the Adriatic! (Breakfast,L,D)

Sunday 14 Sept
Pescara – Lanciano – Masciarelli – Civitella Casanova - Pescara
Visit the medieval town of Lanciano this morning, known for its religious shrine and the annual
flag waver’s competition in the town square. A degustazione of Masciarelli wines, plus the
famous Marina Cvetic olive oil line will follow with lunch and a tour of the remarkable Castello
Semivicoli. Time to shop or freshen up before this evening’s
ride to Civitella Casanova for dinner at La Bandiera. (B,L,D)
Monday 15 Sept
Pescara – Torano Nuovo - Jesi
Heading out this morning, plans call for a visit to the
spectacular setting and wonderful hospitality of Cantine Pepe.
Emidio Pepe was an innovator in the landscape of Abruzzo
wines since he was among the first enologists to begin
crafting his own boutique production, rather than selling
grapes in bulk. Subsequently, he pioneered “bio” or organic
production methods still in use today! Homemade lunch carefully prepared by the Pepe family
(and yes, la nonna Pepe is still in the cucina!!). We then proceed into Le Marche region for our
stay at Hotel Federico II (2 ntx). The Italian word for “fun” is “divertimento”! (B,L,D)

Jesi – Carpegna - San Marino - Jesi
A relaxing morning today with a visit to Carpegna, famous for its delectable prosciutto, and
charming historic San Marino. Free time for lunch before
returning to our resort to relax (swimming pool!) before dinner
tonight. (B,D)
Wednesday 17 Sept
Jesi - Cupramontana - Ascoli Piceno
An enjoyable day exploring the region of Le Marche, including
Cupramontana celebrated wine country. Afterwards, proceed to
the historical Ascoli Piceno for our stay at Hotel 100 Torri (3
ntx). Welcome-to-Ascoli pizza dinner this evening! (B,L,D)
Thursday / Friday 18 Sept / 19 Sept
Ascoli Piceno – Le Marche – Ascoli Piceno
The next two days’ program is being developed to highlight the best that Le Marche has to offer,
wonderful rugged mountain scenery contrasted against the Adriatic Coast, delectable olive oils
and a fabulous variety of wines! Ample free time to acquaint yourselves with Ascioli Piceno
(shopping, ladies!). Ascoli Piceno itself is a jewel of medieval urban planning with wonderful
piazzas and a Cathedral. Our itinerary will show us Ascoli in depth as
well as giving us a good look at the surrounding areas, its traditions and

Ascoli Piceno – Tivoli - Frascati – FCO
Heading off after breakfast,
breakfast we will retrace the Italian peninsula, this time east-to-west! Stops
will include Tivoli’s Villa d’Este and Hadrian’s Villa. Proceed then to the Frascati hills outside of
Rome for a pleasant wine tasting and early dinner at Pietra Porzia before heading to Fiumicino
Airport for the overnight – Hilton Fiumicino (1 ntx). (B,D)
Sunday 21 Sept
Rome [FCO] – Dulles [IAD] – Laurel
Farewell to Italy this morning as we proceed by hotel shuttle to T5 departure terminal for our
home-bound flight United 967 (ETD-ETA 10h50-15h05) After clearing immigration and customs
formalities, we will board our convenient motorcoach for the ride to Laurel for drop-off at PASTA

Max & Rosa Mazziotti on the 2014 PASTA PLUS trip to Abruzzo and Le
Marche???? This is designed as a small-group tour, very personalized
since we expect between 22-27 participants, not more than that!!
Max and Rosa are both natives of the Abruzzo Region, and as part of an annual tradition – a very
personalized look at the food & wine, scenery & culture, beaches & mountains of a distinct region of Italy
– they have decided to invite EVERYONE to central Italy (Regions of Abruzzo and Le Marche) this year in
mid-September.
TERMS & CONDITIONS [T&C]
The trip dates are 11-21 Sept and the per person cost of $4,488 (share basis, two to a room – single adds
$735) includes a lot! We will provide door-to-door transport from PASTA PLUS to convenient Dulles
Airport, non-stop economy class flights on United Airlines to and from Rome*! All local transport while in
Italy, carefully arranged and escorted by Guido Adelfio, President and owner of Bethesda Travel Center
LLC, four star hotel accommodations throughout, daily hotel breakfasts, lunches and dinners daily, as well
as all touring, winery (cantina), cheese production (caseificio), farm (azienda agricola) & olive press
(frantoio) visits and tastings, and all taxes and fees. (No hidden extras!) A current valid passport and
your deposit of $750 per person is all you need and our friend Guido will take care of the rest! Trip
insurance and Bethesda Travel’s “Reassurance” cancellation fee waiver will be offered to all participants
and is strongly recommended for your protection! Your balance will be due by check 01 August 2014.
