Explore the fascinating fusion between the virtual and the real.
The GOLDWELL Futuretec Collection reflects visions of the future, underlining two very different
influences: virtual architecture and ecological involvement. The Futuretec Collection is about new ways
of thinking that are consequently revealed in two new trends with progressive designer looks.
The fusion of virtual worlds and reality creates a fascinating look inspired by modern technology and medieval spirituality. Vibrant colors
of silver-grey, pastel violet, ice blue and subtle metallic effects upgrade every hairstyle and add a mystical touch to the here and now.
The influence of virtual worlds is also expressed in metallic make-up and high tech clothing materials.

The ingenious mixture of an ecological statement with a cosmopolitan lifestyle reveals an unconventional urban look.
Modern natural shades, which are intensive and vivid, are inspired by Mother Earth. Characteristic colors are rich, earthy
browns, multi-dimensional copper and powdery sandalwood tones. These shades combine the desire for making a fashion
statement, while maintaining a natural appeal.
The color intensity of the make-up and the visionary design of the clothing express a connection with nature coupled with
a cosmopolitan style.
In the Futuretec Collection – pure and virtual as well as authentic and natural color schemes have been used.
Virtualist
Color shades that have been especially designed for the Virtualist
trend show a high quality and pure, clear background foundation
color with virtual, translucent accents. Pastel color graduations of
smokey grey and progressive silver, soft violet tones through to ice
blue shimmers give blonde and brown backgrounds a mystical,
virtual haze with a new metallic touch.
Ecopolitan
A colorful, rich and yet natural color play made up of warm and
cool natural tones. Earthy brown, intensive gold, multi-dimensional
copper and sandalwood characterize this trend. The strong and
authentic background foundation color is portrayed by the skillful
placement of color details, especially developed for this trend. The
result is a combination of cosmopolitan style with
confident casualness and positive spirit.

The Futuretec Collection shows the perfect interplay between color and cut.
The key to this concept, inspired by armors and helmets is clear,
round forms – precise, compact, perfectly smooth and polished.
Important characteristics are:
• individual, disconnected sections
• round, organic silhouettes with architectural geometric exteriors.
The color concept, color schemes and techniques underline and support
these compact and marvelous styles.
08
09
These styles reflect the naturalness and texture in a dynamic movement. Focus is
on customized, individual styles created through a newly-developed, graduated
cutting technique – the 70/30 cutting method.
This technique involves the point-cut-technique. Point-cut 70% of the hair in one
section and leave the remaining 30% of the hair the same length in the same section. This ratio can also be reversed where 30% of the hair is cut much shorter and
70% is only cut slightly.
The Trend Zoom 2009 collection was created for the first time by GOLDWELL‘s
Trend Zoom 09 Master Team together with last year‘s Color Challenge Winner Team.
All stylists greatly appreciated this inspirational experience and learned a lot from
each other! To create a global collection for a well-known international hairdressing
brand enabled them to grow and develop.
“I learned to think globally,” said Ilze Eglite, a winner from Latvia.
“I never realized you have to plan every detail at such a complex photo shoot,”
said Cindy Hudson, winner from Canada.

Sectioning and Color Application
1
Use the classic cross parting and apply formula (a) Topchic 11N to
pre-lighten the re-growth throughout. Start at the back of the head
first (darkest part) and process for 45 minutes without heat; when
10-15 minutes remain, apply remaining color to the fine hair around
the hairline.
Rinse and shampoo with Colorglow [IQ] Color Cleanse SHAMPOO, and
evenly dry.
1
Section a triangle shaped fringe starting and finishing
at the recession areas, extending to the highest point
of the head, clip away. Divide the front from the back
vertically from ear to ear. Using upward curving
partings, section the nape from ear to ear around the
head. Make a second curved parting approx. 1-2 inches
parallel above.
12
13
2
3
Section the Eyelets (1 to 3) as shown in the diagram.
Start in Eyelet 1 using the back-to-back foiling
technique. Slice slightly diagonally and apply
alternating formulas (b) Colorance 9PV + Colorance
Clear and (c) Colorance 9BN + GG Mix.
2
Start in the center back section, cut an upward
curved guideline with the longest points behind
the ears. Graduate the hair in this section by
elevating very slightly to the guideline.
Clean up the hairline.
3
Cut the hair of section above by directing to the
guideline to create a soft bob-line, elevating only slightly. Connect the sides allowing the curvature
to become longer at the front.
4
Adjust all hair at the back and sides to the curved
guideline shape. The elevation determines the
amount of graduation.
5
Blow-dry completely. Take fine sections and cut the
fringe into an organic, asymmetric shape. Start at
eye-level and continue longer at the side. Do not
connect the long end with the side. Then start with a
vertical section at the back to connect the graduation,
work parallel to the head shape radiating around the
head and pivoting from the top of the head.
6
Finally connect the length at the back with the fringe. Work from the
shortest to the longest point at the front. Work all sections by radiating
and pivoting from the top of the head and over-direct all sections to the
short guideline maintaining length and asymmetrical shape. Cross check.

Repeat the alternating pattern in Eyelet 3. Place a
connecting slice between Eyelet 1 and 3 and apply
formula (b) Colorance 9PV + Colorance Clear to it.
Apply the background foundation formula (d)
Colorance 10GN to the rest of the hair. Process for

1
Create the first chain of four Eyelets (1a to 4a) as shown in the diagram.

ending at the recession areas running to the crown.
Place the second section, in a round shape at the

formula (a) Topchic 8GG to mid-lengths and ends.
2
Cut the first section in the 70/30 cutting technique.
Start vertically in the neck area and gradually shift
to diagonal sectioning in the sides. Use the 70/30
technique on both sides and work parallel to the
head shape.
3
Cut the back section with the 70/30 technique. Start at
the center and cut parallel to the head shape. Continue
this cutting technique by traveling around the head and
pivoting from the top of the head.
4
Determine the length of the fringe using the pointcutting technique.
5
Connect the fringe with the shortest point of the back
while using the 70/30 cutting technique, keeping volume
in the fringe area. Cross check.
Finish Eyelets 2a – 4a in the same manner.
3
Create a second chain of four Eyelets (1b to 4b) approx.
1/2 - 3/4 inch parallel to and behind the first chain.
Clip away the hair between both Eyelet chains.
4
Proceed with Eyelet 1b in the same slicing pattern as
before applying formula (b) Colorance 6SB + GG Mix to
the roots and formula (a) Topchic 8GG to mid-lengths
and ends.
Finish Eyelets 2b – 4b in the same manner.
5
Apply background foundation formula (b) Colorance 6SB

minutes without heat (15-20 minutes with heat). Rinse,
shampoo and condition with Colorglow [IQ] Color Finish
