PA’s Fresh Faces
Each season high school freshmen across Pennsylvania begin
their journey for supremacy against the top competition. In
2015 two rookies claimed the ultimate prize winning a PIAA
State Championship with Gavin Teasdale and Cole Matthews.
Teasdale was the #1 Top Incoming Freshman last season and
had no issues with the hype. Who will find themselves atop the
podium in 2016? Ahead is an in-depth look at the Top 75
Incoming Freshmen who will be competing this season in
addition to honorable mentions. The list includes wrestlers who
call Pennsylvania home and consists of freshmen that attend
National Prep Schools in addition to PIAA programs.
Who will be 2016’s Top Incoming Freshmen?
In 2015 a total of 45 freshmen qualified for the PIAA State Tournament
with 15 of those wrestlers earning a PIAA State Medal.
Introducing The All New Feature
From PA Power Wrestling…
PA Power Recruiting
2
Recruiting has never been easier with PA Power Wrestling’s all new PA Power Recruiting. Now wrestlers, coaches,
and parents have the ability to create Recruiting Profiles on PA Power Wrestling that can be shared on social media
and are distributed to our database of collegiate programs. This feature is designed for wrestlers of all skill levels,
whether a State Champion or first year Varsity starter, there is a collegiate program fit for you.
What sets Pennsylvania Wrestling apart from other States is the depth of talent found within the Keystone State.
Now every single college coach in the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, NCWA, plus women’s college programs, will have
free access to your Recruiting Profile. Not only are Recruiting Profiles free to view by coaches but we also send your
profile directly to head coaches in your selected Divisions.
Recruiting Profiles are easy to create and you can update the Profile at any time. Profiles include uploading a photo,
your projected college weight, your graduation year, career record, and an area for a short bio highlighting your
achievements. The most intriguing aspect of the Recruiting Profile is the opportunity for the user to upload a
highlight video directly to your Profile. Users are encouraged to create a highlight video or upload a notable match to
the Recruiting Profile. View an example Recruiting Profile below and start preparing for your college career!

It’s tough to follow up freshmen names like Pletcher, Lee, and Teasdale but Northampton Area’s Julian
Clebove will give it his best effort. Wrestling fans should be familiar with the name Chlebove as Julian’s
father is Ian “Whitey” Chlebove a District XI Hall of Famer. Whitey was a 4x District XI Champion, 4x
North East Regional Champion, 3x PIAA Medalist including a State Championship his senior season.
Whitey went on to compete for West Virginia University where he was a 3x EWL Champion and 2x
NCAA All-American for the Mountaineers. Julian is poised to match his father’s high school career and
has already reached impressive levels. At the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championships
Chlebove won his first PJW State Championship in 2015 at 117 lbs. in the Junior High Division. Julian
picked up three falls in the process including in the State Finals over #17 Dan Mancini.
Despite only making two appearances at the PJW State Tournament Chlebove has the most National
accomplishments of the TIF of 2016 list. In 2015 alone Chlebove captured National titles at the Reno
Worlds, Tulsa Nationals, Pop & Flo Mini Men Nationals, and Flo Nationals Championships. The
Koncrete Kid is most definitely peaking at the right time. While still in eighth grade Julian competed in the
Flo Nationals High School Division where he placed third calling the finish his most honored achievement
to date. There his only defeat was to the eventual Champion and Fargo National Champion Paul Konrath
(Indiana) and he finished higher than any other Pennsylvania wrestler including 2015 PIAA State Runnerup Aaron Burkett (Chestnut Ridge). In addition Julian owns Championships from the War at the Shore,
Nittany Lion Open, and the USA Wrestling Preseason Nationals. Not only has Chlebove succeeded in
Folkstyle but also the Freestyle circuit. He is a 2x PAWF State Freestyle Champion and 2x Northeast
Regional Freestyle Champion. Most recently Chlebove won the Super 32 Challenge qualifying tournament
held at Muhlenberg College at 120 lbs. in the high school division.
As you may expect Julian’s goals for his rookie season are lofty aspiring to go undefeated and win a PIAA
State Championship in Class AAA at 113 lbs. With an All-American father, Julian stated that having a
father like Whitey “brings nothing but good things to my life and wrestling career.” As a guiding figure
Julian stated his father helps him in a variety of ways including technique, weight management, and mental
preparation. The pair drill and workout together regularly which has and will continue to benefit Julian.

Arguably the most anticipated youth heavyweight since Solanco’s Thomas Haines is Kawaun DeBoe of
Cathedral Preparatory in Erie, PA. DeBoe is a 2x PJW State Champion and 2x PJW State runner-up in his
career and overall has placed five times at the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Tournament. In 2015
Kawaun blew through the PJW Junior High State Tournament at 252 lbs. recording four falls all in under
(1:30) to advance into his fourth PJW State Finals. There he won by tech-fall to earn his second straight
PJW State Championship. DeBoe is also a 2x Cliff Keen Kick-Off Classic Champion, a Northeast
Nationals Champion, and a Dixie Nationals Champion. As a freshman expect to see DeBoe in Hershey
come March 2016 and, if he adjusts to older competition, could find himself on the PIAA State Podium.

Ryan Vulakh is a strong middleweight who is North Penn’s most anticipated freshman since Zac Fryling
who went on to win two PIAA State Championships for the Knights. Last season Ryan attended
Germantown Academy as an eighth grader but returned to North Penn for his freshmen year. In his career
Vulakh has finished as a PJW State Runner-up twice and was a 2x District 1/SEPA Champion. At the
2014 PJW State Tournament Vulakh competed in a loaded 124 lbs. bracket that featured Carnell Andrews,
Andrew Wert, and Caden Mareno. Those wrestlers went on to succeed their freshmen seasons as Andrews
was a 2015 PIAA State Qualifier; Wert was a PIAA State Medalist; and Mareno was a National Prep
Tournament Qualifier. Vulakh ended up finishing as the PJW State Runner-up for the second year in a row
falling in the finals to Carnell Andrews. In the semifinals Vulakh did have an impressive (1-0) victory over
Andrew Wert. Vulakh also finished as the MAWA Eastern National Runner-up in 2013. Most recently
Ryan took park in the Super 32 Qualifier at Muhlenberg College where he competed at 138 lbs. and had
quite the showing. Ryan defeated four New Jersey wrestlers en route to the Championship title included a
(7-0) win in the finals against Chris Scorese (Cranford, NJ) who was a New Jersey State Qualifier last
season. What’s more is Vulakh finished higher than 2014 PIAA State Runner-up and 2x PIAA State
Medalist John Pipa (Bishop McDevitt) who placed third. Although the two did not meet head-to-head it is
clear Vulakh’s potential in his rookie season.

The most decorated wrestler of the 2016 Top Incoming Freshmen is undoubtedly Carter Starocci of
Cathedral Prep. The future at District 10’s Cathedral Prep looks bright having the #2 and #4 ranked
Freshmen of 2016. Starocci has won it all including a 2016 TIF leading four Pennsylvania Junior State
Championships. Overall Carter has placed a total of six times at the PJW State Tournament making seven

Another name that has been on the Pennsylvania Youth Wrestling scene for quite some time is Jameel
Coles of Philadelphia. Coles has the second most State Titles of the TIF of 2016 with a total of three PJW
State Championships in his career and a total of seven appearances at the PJW State Tournament. Jameel
is the younger brother of Hakim Coles who was a National Prep Tournament Qualifier last season for The
Hill School. Like his older brother Jameel will look to make an impact on the National Prep scene and will
have a talented workout partner in Zane Black. The former Wyoming Seminary Prep National Medalist
and Bishop McDevitt wrestler will be competing for The Phelps School in his junior season. Coles could
see action at both 220 lbs. and 285 lbs. his rookie season.

Pennsylvania Junior State Champion Shane Hanson-Ashworth will add yet another star in the lightweights
for Head Coach Nathan Lauter. As an eighth grader Hanson-Ashworth competed for the Malvern Prep
high school team where he went undefeated (28-0) and notched a (2-1) victory over 2015 National Prep
Champion Will Moss of Wyoming Seminary. Shane’s Malvern Prep teammate Mark Salvator ended up
finishing as the National Prep Runner-up to Moss at 106 lbs. Overall Hanson-Ashworth has placed five
times at the PJW State Championships including a State Championship in 2012. At the MAWA Eastern
Nationals Shane was a 5x medalist making four appearances in the finals picking up two Championship
titles. Lauter is very excited about Hanson-Ashworth and the potential he has to compete straight away
with the top National wrestlers.

Pennsylvania Wrestling fans are going to miss out on a good one here. Jo-Jo Aragona of Milford, PA will
be attending Pope John XXIII Regional High School in New Jersey this year instead of Delaware Valley
like many fans expected. Regardless he is still from Pennsylvania thus he is featured on the TIF of 2016 list.
Aragona gained National attention at the 2015 Super 32 when the freshman advanced into the High School
finals at 106 lbs. At the Nation’s foremost pre-season Tournament Jo-Jo downed several Nationally ranked
wrestlers en route to the finals. Aragona finished ahead of five fellow 2016 TIF and multiple PIAA State
Medalists and Qualifiers. In his Youth career Aragona has qualified for the PJW State Tournament five
times and has earned three State Medals including back-to-back third place finishes in both 2014 and 2015.
Jo-Jo was also a Big Horn Nationals Champion, Northeast Nationals Champion, and a Super 32 Middle
School Medalist. Aragona was also a MAWA Eastern Nationals Runner-up in 2012. Jo-Jo will have
sophomore and NJSIAA State Qualifier Jake Rotunda as a work out partner.

Wrestling fans should remember the name Mike Madara as he was featured in the Top Incoming Freshmen
of 2015 coming in at #45. Madara, however, would not enter high school at Nazareth Area as indicated in
the TIF of 2015. Instead Mike enrolled at Blair Academy in New Jersey where he will be a freshman this
season. In 2014 Madara won his first career PJW State Championship capturing the 82 lbs. Championship
in the Junior High Division. In the 2014 PJW State finals Madara defeated 2015 PIAA State Medalist Jaret
Lane (Southern Columbia Area). Mike also owns Championships at the MAWA Eastern Nationals, Brute
Empire Nationals, and the Dixie Nationals. Madara was unable to defend his 2014 PJW State
Championship in 2015 falling in the Junior High finals at 97 lbs. to future star Sam Hillegas (North Hills) in
a tight (3-1) bout. Competing for National power Blair Academy comes with a grueling schedule and
intense practice room. Madara will be in contention for the starting spot at 106 lbs. Madara will likely
compete with fellow Blair rookie Michael Colaiocco for the spot at 106 lbs. It is safe to say if Madara lands
the spot for Blair Academy he will be tested against the Nation’s top wrestlers on a weekly basis.

2015 Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Champion Julian Gorring is the third District 10 wrestler in the
Top 10 and for good reason. In 2014 Gorring reached new heights in Freestyle and Greco-Roman
becoming a double PAWF State Champion and earning a spot on the Pennsylvania Freestyle National
team where he went (6-1) against the top wrestlers in the Nation. He followed up that performance with an
ASICS Kids Nationals Third Place finish in both styles. Julian also competed in the Phil Portuese North
East Regional where he captured the Championship in Greco-Roman and Runner-up in Freestyle. In 2013
Gorring earned his first PJW State Medal when he finished as the runner-up to Freedom Area’s Michael
Muron (8-6). His first PJW State Championship came in 2015 in the Junior High Division defeating #37
Dominic DeLuca (Derry Area) in the finals (4-0). Gorring will provide much needed support in the Fort
LeBouef upper weights after seeing Garrett Reinwald (182 lbs.) graduate in 2015.

Two years ago Nick Coy watched his older brother Cameron Coy excel as a freshmen for Penn Trafford
winning a South West Regional and PIAA State Championship at 132 lbs. Cameron was #2 on the Top
Incoming Freshmen of 2014. Nick is not far behind coming in at #10. Although not winning a PJW State
Championship Nick has earned four straight Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Medals including two
third place finishes and a runner-up finish in 2015. Nick is also a 6x PJW Area III Champion. In the
WPIAL Coy was a 2x South West Regional Junior High Champion. Nick may not have the blazing youth
resume like older brother Cameron but he is still expected to make an immediate impact in the WPIAL
lightweights. Coy projects to compete at 113 lbs. with sophomore and 2015 PIAA State Qualifier Job
Chishko returning to 106 lbs. The two will greatly benefit from each other in the practice room.

The second Northampton wrestler on the list is 2015 PJW State Champion Devon Britton. His
accomplishments include a 2015 District XI Junior High Championship, 4x MAWA Eastern Nationals
Medalist, and 2013 Nittany Lion Open Runner-up. Britton is a 2x PJW State Finalist finishing as State
runner-up in 2013 behind Josh Stilling (Pennridge) a 2015 TIF and PIAA State Qualifier last season.
Britton jumped up in weight in 2015 moving up to 125 lbs. and also moved up the PJW State podium.
Advancing into the PJW State Junior High finals at 124 lbs. Britton took on a stud in #12 Jared McGill
(Chestnut Ridge) who advanced to his fifth straight PJW State Finals picking up two State Championships
along the way. Despite the daunting task Devon held off McGill to win (7-5). Britton will have a variarity
of work out partners in the Konkrete Kids practice room including fellow freshmen #1 Julian Chlebove,
#43 Michael Kistler, in addition to 2014 PIAA State Finalist Dan Moran.

As mentioned previously Chestnut Ridge freshman Jared McGill is a stud. He would need an entire room
to house all the accolades he has amassed since 2008. In his PJW career Jared is a 6x PJW State Medalist,
5x PJW State Finalist, and 2x PJW State Champion. The PJW State Tournament was not the only event
Jared had success at. He is a 5x MAWA Eastern National Finalist and 1x MAWA Eastern National
Champion. Additionally Jared has won Championships at both the Nittany Lion Open and War at the
Shore. In 2014 McGill finished on the podium at both the NHSCA Middle School Nationals and Super 32
Middle School Challenge. Jared is going to bolster an already impressive line-up that last season finished as
the PIAA State Dual Team Runner-ups. McGill will look to follow in 2015 TIF Justin McCoy’s footsteps
who as a rookie last season placed sixth at the PIAA State Tournament. In addition to McCoy Jared will
have PIAA State Runner-up Aaron Burkett to roll around with.

capable of making an impact his rookie season. Alec is a 4x PJW State Qualifier, a 3x PJW State Medalist,
and a 1x PJW State Champion. At the 2014 PJW State Tournament Bittler was runner-up to 2015 TIF
Zach Ortman (Parkland) but finished ahead of several notable names. A year later Bittler captured his first
PJW State Championship defeating #20 Cameron Connor (Kiski Area) in the 112 lbs. finals (4-0). Most

In 2015 Penn Hills saw their first PIAA State Champion since Mike Kraft in 1989 with a tremendous run
by Te’Shan Campbell. Campbell is gone and off to Pitt but rookie Justin Perkins will attempt to make the
time in between State Champions much shorter than 26 years. Perkins already owns a total of six
Pennsylvania Junior Wresting State Medals including a State Championship in 2013. In his six trips to the
PJW State Tournament Justin never finished lower than fourth. Perkins was also a MAWA Eastern
Nationals Champion, a 2x Cliff Keen National Kick-Off Classic Champion, and a Southwest Regional
Junior High Champion. In the Southwest Regional/WPIAL Junior High Tournament Perkins advanced
into his second straight finals but came away with the gold defeating #22 Dante Flati (Hopewell) in the
finals (5-1).

Colton Camacho hopes to be Franklin Regional’s next big thing when he joins the 2x PIAA State Dual
Team Champions this season. Camacho is a polished wrestler who has only improved in his youth career.
A 6x PJW State Tournament Qualifier Colton is a 4x PJW State Medalist including a 3x State Runner-up.
Despite not reaching the top of the podium Camacho is expected to make an impact on the WPIAL as a
lightweight. In 2015 Colton was a PAWF State Freestyle Runner-up and a South West Regional Junior
High Champion. In the SW Regional Tournament Colton was unmatched at 105 lbs. winning three
matches by fall in the first period and picking up a (17-3) major decision in the finals. Camacho is also a 2x
Flo Nationals Middle School Champion winning the 95 lbs. title in 2014 and 105 lbs. in 2015. In the finals
at 105 lbs. Colton defeated #23 Patrick Gould in overtime (5-3 SV). The Panther has also earned a Super 32
Middle School medal and is slated to compete in the High School division in 2015 at 106 lbs.

Owen J. Roberts has been one of the most consistent programs in District 1 over the past several seasons
and rookie Dan Mancini will be an added talent for head coach Steve DeRafelo. The Wildcats graduated
some studs in 2015 including 4x PIAA State Medalist Derek Gulotta but Mancini will help fill the void.
Dan is a 2x Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Medalist finishing as the Runner-up in 2015. His only
defeat in the loaded 117 lbs. State bracket was in the finals to #1 Julian Chlebove by fall. Also in 2015
Mancini was a PAWF State Champion in Greco-Roman and a State Runner-up in Freestyle. In the District
1/SEPA Tournament Dan won the Championship title over #42 Evan Wilding (5-0). Dan has also won the
East Coast Nationals and was a Keystone State Games Runner-up. As a freshman Mancini projects to
compete at 132 lbs. for OJR and should find himself in the South East Regional Tournament.

Father Judge freshman Gunnar Fuss has only been on the PA Youth scene for roughly four years but
already owns some impressive accomplishments. In his first trip to the PJW State Championship Fuss
placed fourth but followed that performance up with a MAWA Eastern Nationals Championship. Fuss
would go on to medal twice again at the PJW State Championship including a State Runner-up finish in
2014. In 2015 Gunnar took fourth in a loaded 117 lbs. bracket at the PJW State Championship. He also
captured a 2014 PAWF State Championship in Freestyle at 112 lbs. and won a second MAWA Eastern
National Championship. Additionally he was a War at the Shore Champion and Super 32 Middle School
Medalist. Fuss should have no issues adjusting to High School competition and will compete for a PIAA
State Tournament spot.

The name Tuttle should ring familiar to District 9 Wrestling fans as Forest Tuttle 14’ of Coudersport was a
successful wrestler for the Falcons and now competes at Pitt-Johnstown. His younger brother Carter Tuttle
won’t be competing at Coudersport but will be a very successful high school wrestler. Carter is enrolled at
Wyoming Seminary, the National Prep Power, where he looks to begin his career in a talented practice
room. Tuttle has only ever placed once at the PJW State Tournament in three appearances but has excelled
at the PAWF Tournament. Carter is a 4x PAWF Greco-Roman State Medalist including a 3x State
Champion. In Freestyle Tuttle was a 3x PAWF State Medalist and 1x State Champion. At the Phil
Portuese Northeast Regional Tournament Carter has earned medals in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman a
total of four different years. Not only has Carter excelled on the State level but also on the National

The first Belle Vernon Area wrestler on the TIF of 2016 is lightweight Logan Seliga. He is the younger
brother of current Leopard Tyler Seliga and has been on the PA Youth scene for a total of nine years. In
total Logan has qualified for the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Tournament seven times and has
earned four State medals. In 2009 Seliga finished as the PJW State Runner-up his highest medal earned in
his career. In 2015 Logan placed fourth in the PJW Junior High State Championship at 102 lbs. defeating
several fellow TIF of 2016. Seliga also placed twice at the SW Regional/WPIAL Junior High
Championship finishing fourth in 2014 and second in 2015. Logan will likely compete at 106 lbs. but junior
and two-year starter Jake Dunlap may return to 106 lbs. where he is slated to compete at the Super 32.
Head Coach Mike Doppelheuer will find a way to insert Seliga into the line-up if that means bumping
Dunlap up to 113 lbs. in dual meets. Logan is capable of making a splash in the WPIAL at 106 lbs. his
rookie season and will add more power to the State Dual Team Championship contender Belle Vernon.

Patrick Gould has continued to improve throughout his Youth career and wrestling fans got a preview of
his talents at the 2015 Journeymen Classic. Gould finished as the runner-up in the High School Division’s
Bracket A compiling a (3-1) record. His most impressive result came in the third round when Patrick
downed sophomore and returning PIAA State Medalist Jaret Lane (Southern Columbia Area) by a (9-5)
score. His first pre-season Tournament was another impressive feat as Patrick won the Super 32 Challenge
Muhlenberg Qualifier. Gould is scheduled to compete at 106 lbs. in the most competitive pre-season
Tournament, the Super 32 Challenge. In his third trip to the PJW State Tournament in 2015 Gould was
unable to match his 2014 finish. In 2014 Patrick was the PJW State Runner-up at 87 lbs. in the Junior High
Division falling to 2015 TIF Job Chishko (Penn-Trafford) in the finals. A season later Gould returned to the
PJW State Junior High Tournament but, after a first round fall, was defeated by #23 Logan Seliga (3-2).
After the defeat Patrick was forced to forfeit in the consolation round ending his PJW State Tournament.
Gould was also a 2015 Flo Nationals Runner-up in the Junior High Division falling in the finals to #15
Colton Camacho in overtime (5-3 SV). It was his second straight second place finish at the Flo Nationals.
Patrick has also won the War at the Shore and Ohio Tournament of Champions.

West Allegheny freshman Dante Flati has steadily improved as a Youth wrestler with 2015 being his best
year to date. Flati lost in the second round of the 2015 PJW State Tournament to #12 Jared McGill but
battled back to win five straight matches, including an impressive (5-4) over Max Shaw (Thomas Jefferson),
to finish in fourth place at 124 lbs. The next month Dante followed it up with an Ohio Tournament of
Champions title at 133 lbs. At the 2015 South West Regional Junior High Tournament Flati advanced into
the Championship finals where he fell to #14 Justin Perkins (Penn Hills) by a (4-0) score. Falti is currently
playing football for the West Allegheny high school Varsity team. It is likely Flati will put on more mass

Nazareth may have lost TIF Mike Madara to Blair Academy but rookie Sean Pierson hopes to prove his
worth with the Blue Eagles. Pierson raised his stock at the Super 32 Qualifier in Chambersburg when he
won the Tournament at 106 lbs. defeating 2015 TIF and sophomore Trent Snader in the finals (4-2 SV).
Sean is a 2x District XI Junior High Champion winning the title at 107 lbs. in 2015. Also in 2015 Pierson
won the NUWAY Great Lake Championship and placed third at the Ohio Tournament of Champions. On
the National level Pierson was the USA Wrestling Pre-Season Nationals Runner-up. The logjam of talent in
the lightweights will continue this season with 2015 PIAA State Champion Tyrone Klump, 2015 TIF Ryan
O’Grady, and talented junior Trevor Tarsi. Sean could see action at 106 lbs. or 113 lbs. as a rookie.

Belle Vernon Area continues to produce touted youth wrestlers and Scott Joll is yet another example. The
2015 PJW State Runner-up will and depth to the Leopard’s line-up that has many fans predicting a possible
Dual Team Championship. Scott has made five trips to the PJW State Tournament and owns three PJW
State Medals including two runner-up finishes. At the South West Regional Junior High Tournament Joll
placed fourth a seventh grader and in 2015 was the Champion at 130 lbs. Joll was also an Eastern Nationals
Champion, Ohio TOC Medalist, and Cliff Keen National Kick-off Medalist. As a freshman Joll will be
surrounded by talented wrestlers including a trio of 2015 TIF lead by PIAA Medalist Zach Hartman. It’s
unlikely that Joll will see significant varsity time this season but will be someone to keep an eye on in the
future.

The second Kiski Area Cavalier on the 2016 TIF is Darren Miller. The 2015 PJW Junior High State
Champion may be slightly undersized in his freshman season at 106 lbs. but he should not be discounted as
a threat in the WPIAL. Miller captured his first PJW State Championship in 2015 at 87 lbs. defeating #29
Chase Shields in the finals (4-3). It was Darren’s second appearance in the PJW State Finals as he finished
in 2014 as the Junior High State Runner-up at 77 lbs.

the Nittany Lion Open. He also placed in 2013 Super 32 Challenge competing in the Junior High Division.
As a rookie expect to see J.J. compete at 106 lbs. and may find himself making a trip to Hershey for the

The third Northampton Konrete Kid on the TIF of 2016 is Michael Kistler Jr. The rookie is an
accomplished grappler who, along with #1 Julian Chlebove and #11 Devon Britton, will add depth for
head coach Seth Lisa. In 2015 Michael earned one of his most impressive achievements at the ASICS Kid’s
Nationals where he was a double All-American. In Freestyle Kistler was a National runner-up and in
Greco-Roman finished in fourth place. He also competed for Team PA at the National Schoolboy Duals
racking up an undefeated record in both styles (12-0). At the 2015 District XI Junior High Tournament
Kistler was the Runner-up at 107 lbs. falling to #26 Sean Pierson in the finals (10-4). At the Phil Portuese
Northeast Regional Tournament Kistler has faired well earning double Championships in 2011 and double
Runner-ups in 2015. The trio of Northampton freshmen should all enjoy success across the next four years.

is an accomplished wrestler who joins a very strong National Prep program at Malvern. At the 2015 PJW
State Tournament Florschutz earned his third PJW State Medal after finishing in third place at 167 lbs.
There he fell in the second round to #HM Donny Gelnett in sudden victory (3-1 SV) but would go on to
win six straight matches to place third. Also in 2015 Nick participated in the NUWAY National Duals and
went undefeated (7-0) for the second year in a row as he went (6-0) in 2014. One of his best achievements
came in 2014 at the Super 32 Challenge where he competed in the Middle School Division and placed
fourth at 157 lbs. At Malvern Prep Nick will be surrounded by a ton of talent including National Prep
Finalist Mike Beard who last season was #4 on the TIF of 2015. As a freshman Nick projects to compete at

If Bishop McDevitt freshman Chase Shields puts on some mass he will be a force to reckon with at 106 lbs.
in District 3. The 2x Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Medalist finished as the State Runner-up in 2015
at 87 lbs. where he fell to #26 Darren Miller (4-2). A year prior Chase placed fourth in the PJW Junior
High State Tournament competing at 77 lbs. Shields is also a 3x MAWA Eastern Nationals Medalist and
Dixie Nationals Third Place finisher. Chase is the son of Bishop McDevitt head coach Dean Shields who
returns several big names this season. Shields will benefit from workout partners Luke and John Pipa. If he

The third TIF of 2016 from District 1 is Souderton’s Tyler Williams. The 2x Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling
State Runner-up will compete for Souderton Area and is the Indiana’s most anticipated freshman since
Kolton Veit. Williams finished in third place at the PJW Area XI Junior High Tournament narrowly
earning a spot in the PJW State Tournament. The finish didn't discourage Tyler who won five straight
matches advancing into his second straight PJW State Finals. In the finals Williams faced the very talented
Connor Kievman (Minersville) where he fell (4-2). In 2015 Tyler was a District 1/SEPA Junior High
Champion and competed in the NUWAY National Duals where he went undefeated (7-0) against top
wrestlers from across the United States. Also in his career Williams has placed at the MAWA Eastern
Nationals and was both an East Coast Nationals and Keystone State Games Champion. It is likely the
three 2015 PIAA State Medalists from District 1 at 106 lbs. will all be moving up a weight this season
opening up room for a freshman like Williams to earn a qualification spot to Hershey.

Scranton freshman Jeremiah Oakes hasn’t let adversity take a toll on his wrestling. Oakes has made
headlines for his success in wrestling despite being diagnosed with moderate-to-severe autism. Jeremiah
proved he should be considered a threat after an impressive showing at the Super 32 Challenge Qualifier in
Chambersburg, PA. Oakes placed third and along the way knocked off a series of upperclassmen including
2x PIAA State Qualifier Zurich Storm (New Oxford) and 2015 PIAA State Qualifier Austin Clabaugh
(Bermudian Springs). The rookie is slated to compete in North Carolina at 126 lbs. in the Super 32
Challenge. At the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Championship Oakes has qualified three times and
in 2015 earned his first PJW State Medal. Competing at 124 lbs. Jeremiah placed seventh behind three
fellow members of the 2016 TIF. As a freshman Oakes will join the 2015 District 2 Dual Team Champions
and have talented wrestlers to learn from including senior Rui Evanitsky.

Ryan Sullivan has made a total of four appearances in the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling State Finals and is
a 2x PJW State Champion. Clearly Sullivan is a talented wrestler who has dominated many of the Youth
tournaments he competed in. Ryan was a 2x Champion at the Ohio Tournament of Champions and owns a
Nitany Lion Open Championship. His last appearance at the PJW State Tournament was in 2014 when he
competed at 85 lbs. in the (11 & 12) Division. There he finished as the runner-up but did finish ahead of #26
Logan Selga who placed third.

Matthews in the finals. Matthews would go on to win a 2015 PIAA State Championship as a freshman. In 2015
Ryan did not compete in many events so his growth from 2014 is unknown. If Sullivan grows into 106 lbs. he

3x Pennsylvania Junior State Medalist Dominic DeLuca has grown into a strong wrestler who will compete
for Derry Area. In 2015 DeLuca advanced into his first PJW State Tournament Finals where he fell to #9
Julian Gorring (4-0) at 167 lbs. Dom participated in both the NUWAY National Duals and prestigious
McDonough Duals last season and racked up a combined (14-1) record. DeLuca projects to compete at 170
lbs. for the Trojans in his rookie season where head coach Mike Weinell is in desperate need of talent.
DeLuca may not blow away the competition in his first season but by the time his career is complete expect
he makes several trips to Hershey, PA.

2015 PJW State Junior High State Champion Nathan Lackman may be undersized as a freshman but he
should not be counted out. Lackman captured his first PJW State Championship in 2015 at 82 lbs. a year
after placing third at 77 lbs. in the Junior High Division. In the 2015 finals Nathan defeated Lincoln Heck
(7-0) after downing #52 Liam Logue in the semifinals (4-3). It was not the first time Lackman appeared in
the PJW State Finals as he was the 2012 PJW State Runner-up behind youth hammer Sam Hillegas.
Nathan was also a 2x MAWA Eastern Nationals Medalist and a Wilson Junior High Champion. In 2012
Lackman captured an impressive feat at the War of the Shore winning the Championship title at 68 lbs. As
a rookie Nathan will likely be undersized at 106 lbs. considering he has competed last season at 82 lbs.
however, he is skillful enough to compete with the top wrestlers in the South Central Region.

his highest finish coming in 2011 when he was the runner-up. He is also a 5x PJW State Tournament
Qualifier and 3x State Medalist. In 2015 Josh placed fourth at 87 lbs. in the Junior High Division falling
twice to Bedford’s Kaden Cassidy. Stahl will greatly benefit from having 2015 PIAA State Qualifier

Don’t mistake Evan Widing’s short Youth resume for a lack of talent. He is just one of many Pennridge Youth
wrestlers to excel prior to high school. Pennridge Head Coach R.P. Norley has enjoyed several TIF over the past
seasons and Widing will hope to add to the Ram’s depth. In 2015 Evan earned his first career PJW State Medal
placing third at 112 lbs. in the Junior High Division. Widing, who is an aggressive pinner, dropped his
quarterfinal meeting with #13 Alec Bittler (9-1), but stormed back in the consolation round. Evan picked up two
falls in under 1 minute to place third at 112 lbs. In 2014 Widing won the District 1/SEPA Championship. As a
rookie Widing will try to find room in the line-up between some of PA’s top lightweights. PIAA State Medalists
Matt Parker and Kordell Rush are two talented wrestlers who will benefit Widing in the practice room but may
prevent him from seeing varsity action. Widing will also have 2015 PIAA State Qualifier Micah Visuwan who
may move up to 126 lbs. as a sophomore. Whether Evan lands a spot on the Ram’s lineup he will certainly make
an impact in his career.

Saucon Valley head coach Chad Shirk will welcome his second TIF in two years. 2015 TIF Jason Jones was an
honorable mention last season that would prove he was underrated as the freshman racked up a season record of
(45-15) and qualified for the PIAA State Tournament. Younger brother Josh Jones will attempt to match his
brother’s performance this season and projects to compete at 120 lbs. In 2015 Josh competed in several State and
National events that raised his stock. At the District XI Junior High Tournament Jones won the 112 lbs.
Championship and the PJW Area 14 Championship. In his second trip to the PJW States Jones was unable to
capture his first PJW State Medal falling in the Championship round to #20 Cameron Connor (4-0). At the
PAWF State Tournament, however, Jones was a Schoolboy double Medalist placing third in both Freestyle and
Greco-Roman. The finish qualified Josh for the Schoolboy National Duals where he competed for Team PA and
had a combined record of (10-2). Most recently and most notably Josh showed his strength against older and
experienced competition at the Super 32 Qualifier at Muhlenberg College pinning his way into the finals. There
Josh finished as the runner-up behind #1 Julian Chlebove (7-0) but along the way took down several wrestlers
who ended last season ranked in the NE Regional. Jones pinned sophomore William Evanitsky (Scranton) and
senior Robert Shoemaker (Bangor Area). Like older brother Jason expect Josh to make waves as a rookie.

medalist placing sixth in Freestyle and seventh in Greco-Roman. Moving up to 155 lbs. for the Dixie Nationals in

Liam was a 2015 PJW State Junior High Medalist placing third at 82 lbs. in a talented bracket. Logue defeated
#53 JJ White in the quarterfinals (3-1) before falling to PJW State Champion #41 Nathan Lackman in the
semifinals (4-3). Liam again downed #53 JJ White in the consolation finals to finish in third place. Although he
may be undersized as a rookie Logue should have no issues adjusting to high school competition at 106 lbs. and
could find himself atop the District 12 podium.

Jason Baker is a fighter and has shown more heart than many could ever wish to have. On May 9, 2015 Jason
competed in the PAWF Kids Duals for team Young Guns Blue but felt ‘off’ in a performance that he described as
“poor.” Four days later Jason went to the doctors and his life changed forever. He was diagnosed with
Medulloblastoma, a malignant tumor on his brain stem, and the next day May 14th Jason had brain surgery to
remove the tumor. Since then he has gone through radiation and on August 19th began chemotherapy. Throughout
the whole process Jason never wanted to stop competing and states being a wrestler has made him more
determined to defeat cancer. Jason Baker isn’t just any wrestler and prior to his diagnosis was one of the top
Youth wrestlers in the State. A 6x PJW State Tournament Qualifier Baker has climbed the State podium ranks
capped off by a 2014 PJW State Championship at 90 lbs. in the (11 & 12) Division. In the Tournament Baker
defeated #36 Tyler Dilley in the quarterfinals and downed fellow Young Guns wrestler #15 Colton Camacho in
the finals (4-2). It was a reversal from the PJW Area III finals where Camacho defeated Baker. It was Jason’s
highest finish at the PJW State Tournament having finished as the State runner-up in 2013, and third place in
2012. In 2011 Jason competed in the PAWF State Championships and became a State Champion in both
Freestyle and Greco-Roman. Obviously Jason is one of the most talented wrestlers on the list and 3x PIAA State
Champion Nico Megaludis (Franklin Regional/Penn State) described him as a ‘true warrior’. Despite his drive to
continue competing Jason will be unable to wrestle as a freshman this season at Derry Area. Depending on how
his treatment continues Jason may be allowed to wrestle in Freestyle. Jason is a fighter and fans should expect to
see him on the mat the moment he is cleared to do so. Although he won’t be competing for the Trojans this
season when healthy and returned to form Jason will make an impact in the WPIAL and State. Jason still needs
your thoughts and prayers as he faces his toughest battle of his life.

State medals in all of his visits; an eighth, second, sixth, third, and seventh. Competing in the Junior High
Division at the 2014 PJW State Tournament Pollak placed seventh at 132 lbs. in a bracket that included a total of
eight freshmen featured on the 2015 TIF. Jake plays varsity football for Shaler Area and is listed as weighing 165

2014 PJW State Champion Gabe Willochell joins one of the top teams in the WPIAL and will look to outperform
his older brother. Gabe’s brother Jake Willochell graduated from Latrobe in 2015 with a career record of (84-54).
While he may not have ended his Youth career where he wanted Gabe has an impressive resume that includes a
PJW State Championship and two PAWF Schoolboy State Titles in Freestyle. As a rookie Willochell will likely
compete with sophomore and returning starter Brady Sherback for the starting spot at 106 lbs. depending on how
much he has grown over the off-season. Regardless Gabe will benefit from Sherback and the two will only help
each other. Willochell is also a 2x South West Regional/WPIAL Junior High medalist placing second in 2014
and fourth in 2015. In his five trips to the PJW State Tournament Gabe has come away with two State Medals.
Whether Gabe has a starting spot in his freshman season or not, expect to see him make several trips to Hershey

Parkland continues to produce some of the State’s top wrestlers and the Guida family is a big contribution for
that. The third Guida brother, Joseph, will join the Trojans this season after a strong performance by middle
brother Frank in 2015. Eldest brother Nick Guida was a PIAA State Champion and Division I wrestler at Illinois.
Frank, a junior, was a PIAA State Qualifier in 2015 at 170 lbs. and will help guide Joe over the next two years.
Joseph was a 2015 PJW State Junior High Medalist at 147 lbs. where he finished in third place. Guida is a 3x
MAWA Eastern National Medalist and in 2015 placed fourth at the NHSCA Middle School Nationals. He is

hoping freshman Anthony Hinson will emerge as one of those stars. Hinson is a skilled wrestler who has earned
several honors prior to high school. He has qualified for the PJW State Tournament a total of five times over the
last six years and has earned two PJW State Medals. Competing in the PJW Junior High State Tournament at 117
lbs. Hinson went (2-2) in arguably the most difficult weight-class of the Tournament. He fell to #1 Julian
Chlebove and #14 Justin Perkins. Additionally Hinson is a 4x MAWA Eastern National Medalist earning his

their way through the Trojan Youth Program. Wimmer has competed significantly in both Freestyle and GrecoRoman over his career. Twice Jack has earned medals in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman at the PAWF State
Tournament. In 2011 he was the PAWF State Runner-up in both styles and again in 2015 he placed fourth in both
styles. The upper weight rookie also made two trips to the PJW State Tournament earning a PJW State Medal in

Yet another younger brother is Wyoming Seminary’s Michael Doggett the younger brother of current Columbia
University wrestler Matt Doggett. Matthew was a 3x National Prep All-American at Wyoming Seminary
including a runner-up finish in 2014. Michael joins one of the top programs in the Nation and will train with one
of the best wrestlers in the Nation. Although as a rookie Doggett will be the back-up to Mason Manville, a
National Prep Champion and FILA Cadet Freestyle Champion, he will be a valuable asset to head coach Scott
Green in the near future. In his Youth career Michael has qualified three times for the PJW State Championships
and earned his first PJW State Medal in 2015. Competing at 147 lbs. Doggett finished in fourth place falling to
#59 Joseph Guida in the consolation finals (4-2). In 2014 he competed in the ASICS Kids Freestyle Nationals
where he placed sixth at 120 lbs. As a rookie Doggett could still see time in the Varsity line-up competing up at
160 lbs. and will only improve from working out with Penn State recruit Mason Manville.

2x PJW State Junior High Medalist Bronson Garber has big shoes to fill with the graduation of Coy Campbell in
2015. Competing at 113 lbs. Campbell placed fourth at the 2015 PIAA State Tournament. Freshman Garber
projects to compete for Upper Dauphin at 113 lbs. and should fair well in his first season of high school. In 2015
Bronson placed sixth at 107 lbs., which was two spots up from his eighth place finish in 2014, and 92 lbs. Most
recently he competed in the Journeymen Classic “Over-Flo” High School Division and won the Championship at
113 lbs. defeating New York wrestler Anthony Starmiello who is a senior New York State Qualifier. In 2014 at
the Journeymen Classic Bronson was the runner-up of the Middle School Division. It is likely that Bronson will

Bethlehem Catholic will be the team to beat this season in Class AAA and rookie Luca Frinzi could play a key
role in the outcome. With the departure of former PIAA State Champion Jake Reigel to Wyoming Seminary head
coach Jeff Karam is in need of a talented light-weight. Enter Luca Frinzi. The former Quakertown wrestler was a
2x District 1/SEPA Medalist including a Championship title at 112 lbs. in 2015. In 2015 Luca was a MAWA
Eastern National Champion at 115 lbs. his second career MAWA medal. In his only trip to the PJW State
Tournament in 2014 he placed sixth in the State at 100 lbs. in the (11 & 12) Division. Also in 2014 Frinzi placed
third at the Journeymen Classic Middle School Tournament. In Freestyle Luca has also shown promise with a
2013 PAWF State Freestyle Championship at 85 lbs. in the Novice age bracket. Luca will likely outperform his
TIF ranking especially once he spends significant time in the Golden Hawks practice room. He will have another
incoming freshman, Ryan Anderson from Hackettstown, New Jersey, who will join the BECA lightweights.
Together they will learn from 2x PIAA State Champion Luke Karam.

West Allegheny will have another McGeary on the Indian roster with rookie Ty joining older brother Rocky.
McGeary is the second Indian on the list joining #25 Dante Falti. West Allegheny has always been a competitive
program in the WPIAL and the last several seasons were no different. In 2015 head coach Mike Johnson helped
guide senior Josh Bahr to a PIAA State Medal at 195 lbs. Rookie Ty McGeary qualified four times for the PJW
State Tournament earning two PJW Stat Medals along the way. In 2010 Ty placed fifth and in 2014 he improved
to fourth place. McGeary also owns medals from the War at the Shore, MAWA Eastern Nationals, Ohio
Tournament of Champions, and the Cliff Keen Nationals. This season Ty projects to compete at 113 lbs. where
he should find success.
