MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
To Pro2Serve Employees and Our Families
I think that most of our
employees know and
genuinely appreciate that
we set aside 10% of
Pro2Serve’s net income
before taxes (NIBT) at the
end of each year to be
spent on community and
charitable activities
during the following year. Several years ago, the
Pro2Serve Board of Directors assessed our
community and charitable giving process and
decided to focus our efforts on selecting
worthwhile activities and organizations where we
will make a difference that can be clearly identified,
where the impact is lasting, and, in many cases,
where we can make something happen that is
needed but might not happen at all without our
support. Our overall priority areas for “giving back
to the communities in which we live and work” are
designated by the Board to be education and
economic development. The majority of our
designated giving is in these areas, and the rest
goes toward a variety of areas including addressing
a number of social needs programs through the
United Way and specific charities, matching
employees giving of their time and money in the
community, and sponsoring sports programs like
the Knoxville Lady Force soccer team and the Los
Alamos Pro2Serve softball team.
As you read through our 2013 Community Report,
you will see a number of community and charitable
activities that Pro2Serve and our employees
continue to support which have been proven over
time to make a difference in our communities.
These include activities like our strong support of
the Roane Imagination Library, the UT-Pro2Serve
Math Contest, and the Willow Brook Elementary
School Bear Tree. You will also see several new
activities we undertook that will make lasting
differences in our communities like Choices
Resource Center, the Emerald Youth Foundation
and the new Emory Valley Center.
I would like to draw your attention to one effort
that we are supporting which has the potential to
bring significant and long-lasting benefits to the
entire Knoxville and East Tennessee nonprofit
community, the Consortium for Social Enterprise
Excellence (CSEE), operating in the University of
Tennessee’s College of Business. CSEE’s vision – to
bring business-minded thinking to mission-minded
nonprofits – attracted Pro2Serve to be the founding
sponsor of the Consortium two years ago. Since
then, CSEE has been instrumental in the creation of
a collaborative network of organizations
supporting the region’s nonprofits; is providing
cutting-edge business training for executive
directors of nonprofits; and has developed
undergraduate and graduate business coursework
for UT Knoxville students destined to become the
next generation of leaders in the social services
sector. CSEE intends to make the University of
Tennessee a nationally-recognized model of the
role a university can play in strengthening its
community’s social enterprises.
I hope you will enjoy reading about the many
activities and events you and your company,
Pro2Serve, have engaged in during 2013. Each and
every one of you is making a difference in your
community through your personal lives and your
work here at Pro2Serve. Thank you.
L. Barry Goss, PhD
Chairman and CEO

CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP
Pro2Serve’s approach to community and charitable giving falls into
three areas:
Major Corporate Programs:
Our Board of Directors has made education and economic development
the main priorities for the Corporate Program giving. In Education, we
founded the Distinguished Professionals Education Institute, a
501(c)(3) educational organization which places professionals into
high schools to teach courses within their areas of expertise (e.g.,
physicists teaching physics). We have funded the
UT-Pro2Serve Math Contest for the past 13 years, which brings
Tennessee’s brightest high school math students to the University of
Tennessee, Knoxville. And we have supported a host of other education
initiatives. In economic development, we continued our support of the
East Tennessee Economic Council and the Energy, Technology and
Environmental Business Association.
Joint Employer/Employee Programs:
The United Way program is our largest joint employer/employee
community program. We offer a dollar for dollar match to our
employee’s United Way pledge form contributions. As a result of our
generous employees, we were Roane County United Way’s largest
corporate contributor annually starting in 2009. There are a number of
other programs like the Willow Brook School Bear Tree and the Roane
Imagination Library we jointly support with our employees.
Employee Matching Program:
Pro2Serve matches up to $100 for any employee who is contributing
time and/or money to their favorite community or charitable program.
Contributions can range from high school soccer teams to church
mission trips to families in need.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Pro2Serve reached another major milestone for the 6th year in its companywide United Way
campaign with contributions totaling almost $55,000 and was once again the largest corporate
contributor to the Roane County United Way. Pro2Serve participated in six major fundraising
campaigns across the country. Roane County residents as well as residents in several other
states benefited from the 2013-2014 campaign as Pro2Serve allowed employees to designate
the County to which the funds were allocated. In addition, the Company matching funds were
allocated dollar-for-dollar to the same counties employees designated on their pledge forms.
Many fun events took place during the campaign, including the Annual Chili Cook-Off, a silent
auction, and a raffle ticket sale. These fun events allowed Pro2Serve to raise an additional
$846 to add to the campaign!

2013 Community Report
As part of its commitment to give back to the communities in which its employees live and work,
Pro2Serve has co-sponsored the annual UT-Pro2Serve Math Contest with the UT College of Arts
and Sciences’ Department of Mathematics since 2001.
The purpose of the contest is to enhance math education in the state while providing students
with incentive and interest to choose a science, technology, engineering, or math major. Known as
the STEM disciplines, increasing
enrollment in these fields has been
listed as a major national priority to
enhance America’s global
competitiveness in business and
technology.
The UT-Pro2Serve Math Contest for
Tennessee High School Students
consists of three divisions:
(1) Fermat I, a multiple-choice exam for
all participants; (2) Fermat II, an exam
demanding uncommon creativity and
originality in problem solving; and (3)
The Math Bowl, a double elimination tournament for three-member teams in the style of a
Scholars Bowl competition. The top 10 individual contest winners received four-year, $4,000
scholarships to UT Knoxville in addition to certificates, t-shirts, and engraved plaques for the top
winners of Fermat I & II and trophies and medals to winners of the Math Bowl.
Raven Wood High School was the overall winner of the Math Bowl, followed by Collierville High
School. First place in the small-school category went to Memphis University School, with second
place going to University School of Nashville.
“Your company makes it possible for the university and me to provide this worthwhile event to high
school students from across the state. Your dedication to the education of our youth is evident and
greatly appreciated. I look forward to working with you and Pro2Serve in the future as we continue
to make the Math Contest a success.”

Consortium for Social Enterprise Excellence
In 2011, Pro2Serve made a corporate gift to the University of Tennessee to help establish The Consortium
for Social Enterprise Effectiveness (CSEE). “As the founding corporate sponsor for the Consortium,
Pro2Serve is creating a research and educational platform that the College of Business Administration will
be able to build upon for years to come. The nonprofit sector is an important and rapidly growing part of
our society and economy and this pioneering gift positions the school to take a much greater role in
addressing the challenges and opportunities in nonprofits” said Alex Miller, the William B. Stokely Chair of
Management in the University of Tennessee’s College of Business Administration and the Pro2Serve
Director of the CSEE.
In 2013, the CSEE graduated it’s very first class. CSEE
program is a year-long certificate program that
strengthens social mission organizations and those
who lead them. CSEE is offered through the
Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and
Innovation located in the College of Business. The
CSEE program is a two pronged approach to develop
leaders of social mission organizations in becoming
stronger managers of their organizations and to
foster organizational strategy building skills that
include preparing an organizational assessment,
strategy, and action plan that will take your
organization to the next service level.
The CSEE Class of 2014
The personal leadership development piece of the program involves an in-depth leadership assessment to
help identify personal strengths and weaknesses. From this assessment, a year-long plan is devised to
sharpen those strengths and address opportunities for improvement. Each participant is assigned a faculty
coach that facilitates the plan development and execution. Classroom sessions on leadership concepts and
tools augment the personal development plans.
The development of an organizational investment-ready strategy is tailored for each participant’s
organization. An in-depth analysis is conducted to assess the organization’s strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and threats along with judging key competencies and opportunities for growing your
organization’s effectiveness and reach. Evaluating the organization at this very precise level allows for
setting organizational staffing and metric and evaluation levels crucial to advancing your mission. This
profound and deep analysis is finally captured in an “investment-ready” strategy presentation sure to
inform and impress your board and result in a call to action.
This course is designed for executive directors and other senior leaders in organizations focused on social
missions. This includes nonprofit services, nongovernment organizations, and other institutions with a
primarily social mission.

Willow Brook Bear Tree
The 12th Annual Willow Brook Bear Tree provided Christmas
presents to 12 deserving families and their 40 children this year
that would otherwise not have received gifts. As of 2013,
Pro2Serve’s employees have provided a very special holiday to
over 750 Willow Brook students.
Located in Oak Ridge, Willow Brook
Elementary is a year-round school for
children in kindergarten through fourth grade.
Pro2Serve’s employees also made donations to fund the Willow Brook
School Shoe Fund this year. The Shoe Fund is a year-round effort
where Pro2Serve acts as extra resource to Willow Brook and
purchases tennis shoes for children who come from low income
families and may need a little extra help.
Secret City Festival
The 11th annual Secret City Festival was presented by the City of
Oak Ridge, the Oak Ridge Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, and
the Arts Council of Oak Ridge. The Oak Ridge Secret City Festival
is held annually and celebrates the unique history of Oak Ridge
during World War II. The family-friendly events, concerts, and
tours make the festival one of East Tennessee’s premier summer
events. The World War II re-enactment is the largest multi-battle
WWII event in the South.
Pro2Serve helped
sponsor the musical entertainment featuring Rick
Springfield and The Dirty Guv’nahs! Over 2,300 tickets
were sold for Rick Springfield’s Saturday night
performance. Rick Springfield has sold 25 million
albums worldwide, including 17 top-40 hits, such as
Don’t Talk to Strangers, An Affair of the Heart, I’ve Done
Everything for You, and Love Somebody, as well as earning a 1981 Grammy for Best Male Rock
Vocal for his No. 1 single hit, Jessie’s Girl.

2012. The Knoxville Lady Force and
the Knoxville Force are owned by
Knoxville Soccer LLC, whose
mission is to serve as a focal
point for social change by
offering soccer programs and

Days Tournament help support the community of
Chama, NM, which is a Hub Zone town located in
northern Rio Arriba County.
“We have made several friends and have had a positive
impact not only on the Los Alamos Softball League and community, but also the families of our
players,” says Pro2Serve’s Rich Logan. The team was more successful in this year’s tournaments
and proudly represented Pro2Serve with the highest character and dignity.

Rotary Club Innovation Valley Science Fair
The Rotary Club of Oak Ridge
Sunset held its 4th Annual
Science Fair for third, fourth
and fifth grade students of
Anderson and Roane County
Schools in February.
Pro2Serve was one of four Proton Sponsors at the
event. Judges determined winners for each grade
level and in each of the categories: physical
science, earth science, and life science. A special
panel of judges selected the Grand Prize winners
from the group of First Prize winners. The Grand Prize winner received a one-week trip to NASA
Space Camp, the second prize winner received a Windows Surface tablet, and the third prize
winner received a Kindle Fire.
Grand Prize Winners for 2013: 1. Daniel Joy (Linden), 2. Alyssa Emory (Kingston), and 3. Olivia
O’Shell (Kingston).
Pro2Serve is proud to contribute to a program that encourages children to be excited about
science!
Roane Imagination Library Pro2Serve Challenge
For the second year, The Pro2Serve Challenge Grant for Roane
Imagination Library was offered by Pro2Serve. Pro2Serve
matched dollar-for-dollar donations up to $7,500. With the
challenge, The Roane Imagination Library was able to match
Pro2Serve’s donation with an additional $11,000, a total that
represents more than 75% of their annual budget. The funds
allowed the Library to continue sending books to
approximately 1,800 children every month for 2013.
Attending the reception celebrating the Pro2Serve Challenge
for Roane Imagination Library were Barry Stephenson, CEO of Materials and Chemistry
Laboratory, Inc., Kassie Perkins, MCLinc Representative, and Dr. Barry Goss and Beth Pearson,
Pro2Serve.

Foothills Land Conservancy
For the fourth year, Christine Hayworth’s Penrose Farm, with its gardens,
open fields, and roaming horses, was the setting for Foothills Land
Conservancy’s Summer Celebration, an annual fundraiser to celebrate the
mission of preserving, protecting, and
enhancing the East Tennessee landscape.
Pro2Serve was once again a Silver Sponsor
for the event. Among the guests and supporters affiliated with
Pro2Serve were: FLC’s Board President Bob Van Hook, Susan
Howell, Jeff Salyers, Tyson Ramsey, Ed St. Clair, Lauren Dutton,
and Susan Starr.
Emory Valley Center
Located in Oak Ridge, TN, The Emory Valley Center is a
non-profit agency serving more than 850 children and adults with
disabilities. As a Silver Sponsor, Pro2Serve’s 2013 donation went
directly toward the Center’s Capital Campaign and the new EVC
building to be constructed on Emory Valley Road. The gift will
provide a tangible, lasting investment in this regionally centered
program by improving the quality of life for their clients and
employees.
Dr. Barry Goss, President and CEO of Pro2Serve, and Homer Fisher, board member, presented a
donation of $2,000 to Emory Valley Center Capital Campaign to co-chairs Dottie Thompson and
Gene Caldwell of Oak Ridge. This brings the total amount donated by Pro2Serve to $9,000.
Pro2Serve was a Platinum Corporate donor for the Choices Resources Center of Oak. The mission
statement of the Choices Resource Center is: To be an advocate for the sanctity of human life,
providing spiritual, physical, and emotional resources to women and men facing unplanned
