Video Programming
Our video rooms aim to showcase a crosssection of the anime medium, and range
from old to new and from serious to silly. A
lot of consideration was given to bringing a
in lots of different elements yet still trying to
maintain coherence. The staff encourages
you to explore new shows and enjoy old
favorites, but mostly to have fun!
Panels & Workshops
From talking about a favorite anime to teaching
others how to decipher those ubiquitous Japanese
characters, Panels & Workshops are the part of
the convention where the attendees get to run
the show. Here, the con-goers themselves are
the main attraction, as ideas are swapped, rare
skills are imparted, and a good time is had by all.
Dealers’ Room
The dealer’s room is an area set aside for vendors
to come and sell merchandise. This merchandise
includes jewelry, books, costumes, weapons,
action figures, cds/dvds, clothing, model kits,
toys, trading cards, cosplay swords, etc… A wide
range of merchandise will be available, so come
on down to Walker Gym and see what’s for sale!
Artists’ Alley
Artist’s Alley features crafts and products from
smaller vendors than the Dealer’s Room. Here
you will find everything from customizable business cards to portraits done by professional artists
to art of your favorite manga and anime. Come
by and browse our fine selection!

Video Gaming
Join your local gaming organization, the
Computer and Console Gaming Society, in
Babbio 104 for console gaming. We invite all
attendees to stop in and take a look around
the gaming room, as we have games for all
generations of systems, both new and old. The
game room is intended to provide a relaxing
time for attendees of all age groups. There
are tournaments that interested individuals
can participate in, and will be publicized
early in the day. Please abide by the rules of
the convention and of the gaming room, and
everyone will have an enjoyable experience. Card and Board Gaming
CPAC has an assortment of board
games for attendees to play all day
during the convention with three
dedicated rooms for play. In addition
to “pick up” games we will also be
holding a Magic The Gathering
Tournament with prizes awarded to the
top three players. If you’re looking to
chill from the main events, play in the tournament, or have decided
to dust off your old deck of yours, be sure to stop by. Special thanks
to C2GS for providing some of our inventory for the event.
Karaoke
WCPR, the official radio station of the Stevens
campus, will be sponsoring a Karaoke Room at the
Castle Point Anime Convention. This will be a freeform karaoke (no judging). We will be providing our
own extensive collection of karaoke discs, which
are mostly geared towards popular American songs
of a variety of genres – pop, rap, country, rock,
classic rock, and even metal - as well as a Japanese
collection. Additionally, if you have karaoke discs
that are in the CD-G format, or if you have a CD
with music on it that you would like to sing, you are
welcome to bring them.

Ah! My Goddess
Keiichi Morisato is looking forward
to university life. In reality he has no
luck in anything, and he has trouble
with clubs, love, etc. One day Keiichi
is stuck watching the dorm while his
sempai are away, and has a mountain
of chores to do to boot. As he is about
to finish his final chore, he makes a
phone call to his sempai. But the words
that came through the receiver are
‘Goddess Help Line.’ Shortly afterwards,
a beautiful goddess named Belldandy
appears in front of him from the mirror
of his room.
Basilisk
The year is 1614 AD. Two warring
ninja clans, each supporting a son
of Hidetada Tokugawa as the next
shogun, send ten representatives each
to fight to the death for the possession
of a scroll. The prize: the annihilation
of the other and the staunch support
of the Tokugawa government for the
winning clan for the next thousand
years.
Cromartie High School
Hi folks! Meet Takashi Kamiyama.
Enrolled at Cromartie High, where
everybody is a delinquent, Kamiyama
is apparently the only non-delinquent
in the school. Therefore, he must be
the toughest in his class - by the twisted
logic that only a really tough rabbit
would lie down with lions. Thus begins
a story that parodies every cliché of
tough-guy anime that you’ve ever
heard of (and some you haven’t!) Oh,
and Freddie Mercury is in it, too.
Death Note
Yagami Light is an ace student with
great prospects, who’s bored out of
his mind. One day he finds the Death
Note: a notebook from the realm of
the Death Gods, with the power to kill
people in any way the owner desires.
However, when criminals start dropping
dead one by one, the authorites
send the legendary detective L to
track down the killer. A battle of wits,
deception and logic ensues...
Animation Runner Kuromi
After being inspired by the fictional
anime “Luis Monde III,” Mikiko “Kuromi”
Oguro goes to animation school and
and finally lands the job of her dreams
at Studio Petit. Upon arriving, she meets
the head of production. Unfortunately
for her, he dies soon after meeting her
and passes his position unto her. Now
that she’s head of production of “Time
Journeys”, it’s up to her to rally up the
lazy animators and finish the second
episode in a week.
Azumanga Daioh
Azumanga Daioh is about high school
life through the eyes of six girls with
unusual personalities: Chiyo (the 10year-old genius), Osaka (the resident
airhead), Sakaki (the shy one prone to
cat bites), Tomo (the loose cannon),
Yomi (the short-tempered one) and
Kagura (the resident jock).
Ceres, Celestial Legend
Aya Mikage is a descendent of Ceres
and has quite an amount of tennyo
blood. On her 16th birthday she and her
twin brother, Aki, are thrown a party. At
the party, Aya’s grandpa tries to kill her
because she has tennyo powers unlike
the rest of the family, and can actually
become Ceres herself and destroy the
Mikage family. With protector Yuuhi by
her side, it is up to Aya to control Ceres
and keep her from coming back, but
her relationship with an ex-worker for
her evil grandpa may be a distraction.
Dai-guard
Thirteen years after their sudden
disappearance, an alien race known
as the Heterodyne resurfaces without
warning. To combat the Heterodyne,
three office workers from the 21st
Century Security Corporation operate
Dai-Guard - a giant robot no longer
regarded as an oversized paperweight.
Unfortunately, Dai-Guard is somewhat
obsolete and in disrepair. It’s a tough
job, but salarymen can also save the
world.

by his father to the city of Neo Tokyo-3
after several years of separation.

of piloting a giant robot by the name of EVA01 and protects the world from
the enigmatic invaders known as
Angels. However, why are the Angels
attacking and what are Shinji’s father’s
true intentions?
Ergo Proxy
In a future where the world has been
ravaged by a nuclear apocalyse,
salvation exists in a domed city named
“Romdeau” where humans and their
android servants, the autoreivs, live.
But this utopian landscape is soon
disrupted by a series of mystifying
murders. Real Mayar, an inspector from
the Citizen Information Bureau, and her
autoreiv partner, Iggy, are assigned to

Excel Saga
Excel does anything and everything
to try to please her lord, Ilpalazzo, who
wants to take over the planet. Excel’s
misadventures take her and Hyatt,
her frail partner, all over the world.
Everything is bizarre and goofy, and
every kind of anime or entertainment
genre is mercilessly spoofed.
Fate/Stay Night
Shirou Emiya lost his parents in a fire when
he was young and was later adopted
by a sorceror named Kiritsugu Emiya.
Although he admires his adopted
father and yearns to become an ally of
justice, Shirou has limited powers and
is unable to become a strong sorceror
like his father. Then one day he is drawn
into the Holy Grail War and has to
summon a “Servant” known as Saber in
order to protect himself. He discovers
that the Holy Grail War involves a series
of battles among powerful sorcerors
for possession of a relic that will grant
wishes: the Holy Grail.

know what to do about her. To make
matters worse, Naota’s world is totally
turned upside down when he is run
over by a woman on a Vespa. During

calls herself Haruko and her presence
makes Naota’s life even more insanity.

will aid you with creating movement and expressive body language in
your art. Instructor Teresa DeFabrizio (AnimeNEXT/MangaNEXT) is glad
to assist you in expanding your creativity and artistic development.
Learn Common Kanji
Kanji are Chinese characters which were first imported to Japan at
a time when there was no written Japanese language. Today, kanji
are used in modern Japanese to write nouns as well as adjective and
verb stems. Each kanji has an intrinsic meaning, as well as several
different pronunciations. This workshop will focus on kanji which are
both common and useful, such as entrance, exit, man, woman, stop,
etc. You will learn how to write these kanji using the proper stroke
order and what their most common readings are, as well as some
tricks for remembering them.
Fold Simple Origami
Origami is the art of folding paper. It involves using geometric creases
and folds in order to form a sheet of paper into recognizable shapes
(e.g. a crane, a flower, a box, etc.). This workshop teaches beginner
Origami models to those who want to learn this ancient art. The
teacher has been doing Origami for 12 years and has taught Origami
to several beginner and intermediate groups; his work has been
displayed in the Museum of Natural History on their Christmas tree.
Draw Anime Characters
A mangaka is someone who draws manga. If this sounds like your
ideal career, but the style of manga drawings eludes you, then this
may be the workshop for you. Come and draw along to improve
your art!

Convention Guidelines
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
If you are traveling with small children, establish a specific place where you will meet up if separated. Small children should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Mind the flow of traffic and do not obstruct hallways. Some buildings will have a dedicated entrance and exit. Do not run inside buildings. Restricted areas are off-
limits to attendees and will be labeled with caution tape or signs.
The CPAC convention grounds have many great opportunities for photographs. Please respect the grounds. Do not climb on statues or buildings. Always be aware that the convention grounds are in the middle of the city of Hoboken and there will be traffic nearby.
Many attendees participate in cosplaying as familiar characters. While many enjoy having their picture taken, always ask permission first.
The use of still or video cameras may be restricted or prohibited at some events. Please mind posted notices. Violating this rule may result in confiscation of the camera.
CPAC is a family event. Do not wear clothing that may be considered lewd or inappropriate in a public setting. No nudity or partial nudity is allowed. Also, no rude or profane clothing or signs are allowed on the convention grounds.
There is no smoking in any of the convention buildings. While smoking is permitted outside the buildings, we ask that you dispose of the remnants appropriately.
If you have any questions, concerns, or problems, immediately approach the nearest CPAC Safety or Convention Officials.
In case of injury or other emergency, follow all instructions of CPAC Safety, Convention Officials, and Police.
Weapons Policy
“or, How I Donated My 15 Foot Sword to CPAC”
CPAC considers any device capable of causing injury, or being
confused with an object capable of causing injury, a weapon. To
ensure a safe and fun environment, CPAC has strict restrictions
on such devices within the convention grounds. The weapon
17
restrictions must be abided at all times by convention attendees
and will be strictly enforced. All weapons and other props
are subject to inspection by CPAC safety officials at any time. Decisions made by CPAC safety are final and CPAC safety officials
reserve the right to confiscate weapons and expel attendees
from the convention and its grounds at any time. If you have any
questions, please consult the convention information desk or any
CPAC Safety official. Prohibited Weapons
Projectile Weapons including but not limited to functional
firearms, imitations of real firearms, pellet guns, air rifles, water
pistols, and slingshots
Live Steel including but not limited to sharpened and dull swords,
knives and other cutting implements
Incendiary devices such as smoke bombs, flash bombs,
sparklers, and other fireworks; possession of any of these devices
will result in immediate expulsion from the convention.
Flail and throwing weapons including but not limited to
nunchaku, sansetsukon, shuriken, and throwing stars
Illegal devices not permitted on the campus of Stevens Institute
of Technology, city of Hoboken, or state of New Jersey are not
permissible inside the convention.
Allowed Props
Staves, boken, and walking canes made from wood,
Styrofoam, or other light-weight material
Fake and toy guns made from a light-weight material that are
obviously prop guns and have a non-removable orange tip
Decorative props with no moving parts, less than seven (7) feet
in height and under fifty (50) pounds deemed not hazardous or
obtrusive to other convention attendees
Weapons Check-in
At check-in, all attendees will be required to show that all
weapons abide by the above rules. If CPAC staff have doubts
as to the safety of any weapon, you will be given the opportunity
to check it for pick-up at the convention’s conclusion. If you
refuse to check a weapon determined to be in violation of the
18
weapons policy by CPAC staff, you will be denied entrance to the
convention buildings and grounds.
Weapons Behavior
If at any time, an attendee is observed using an approved or nonapproved weapon in the following manner, the weapon will be
immediately confiscated without return and the attendee may be
evicted from the convention without refund:
• Swinging or otherwise causing obstruction in a public area
• Mock fighting
• Brandishing provocatively or any other threatening gesture
• Modification of any approved weapon so that it no longer
meets the weapons policy
Video Gaming Policies
• Game schedule depends on interest levels for games and players
waiting for a console.
• Game schedule relies on system performance being adequate,
being able to connect (for multi-player situations), and
experiencing technical problems, and is subject to change.
• Do NOT DAMAGE the Equipment! • Do NOT STEAL OUR EQUIPMENT! • There is a No-Sore-Loser policy in effect. If someone pwns you,
don’t get angry or you WILL be asked to leave. • If you have requests, please inform the con staff present. We may
have other games available for certain systems - please ask.
• Please be considerate to others waiting to use the console - don’t
hog the systems
Card and Board Gaming Policies
• No selling of personal cards and/or other gaming paraphernalia
on CPAC premises.
• Please remember: Its just a game.
• If there is a dispute over rules please ask a staffer for assistance.
• All games are available to attendees, unless already being used
by another person.
• Attendees are allowed only 1 game at a time, to allow other
people to play.
• While we are all there to have fun, please be aware of your
surroundings.
• A staffer has the right to take away a game from you, if your
actions are deemed inappropriate or hostile to another
attendee.

Concert
CPAC is proud to present Peelander-Z with special guests Bit
Shifter and Nullsleep! The show will be held in the Peirce Dining
Hall in the Howe Center.
PEELANDER-Z,
the
Japanese
Action
Comic
Punk Band, was formed by
Peelander-Yellow, PeelanderBlue, and Peelander-Red (claim
they are from Z area in the
Planet Peelander!!) in 1998, and
came into action based in NYC.
These three dress up in colorcoordinated costumes about
as if they came out of Japanese
Animation (claim those are not
costumes, but the skin!!!) put on
a fun entertainment. Yes, their
performance is not just playing
music. Have you heard of
human bowling, wrestling and
kung-fu action, or funny dance
at the punk rock shows? Peelander-Z knows how to entertain
the audience by dragging them into the show. One experience
would capture you!! Peelander-Z is the best of the universe!
Peelander-Z has been appearing not only on the major music
festivals like Bonnaroo Music Festival, CMJ and SXSW, but also
on the TV programs like Best Week Ever on VH1, Upright Citizens
Brigade on Comedy Central and MXC: Most Extreme Challenge
on Spike TV, and on Anime Network. They have played with
many national bands, such as Buckethead, Electric Six, Particles,
and more. Also they’ve performed at many other major Anime
conventions and the festivals all over the US. Just pay attention
to their coming activities!!!

Nullsleep creates powerful romantic pop using repurposed
low-bit electronics in a relentless search
for new ways to circumvent their
limitations. Bittersweet melodies and
driving, rhythmic pulses are coaxed
out of small plastic devices to produce
a surprisingly intense sound. In 1999
Nullsleep cofounded 8bitpeoples, a
collective of artists interested in the
audio-visual aesthetics of early home
computers and video game consoles.
He has since released a number
of recordings through 8bitpeoples,
Astralwerks, Aniplex and others. Based in
New York City, Nullsleep has performed
extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia,
including the 20-date International Chiptune Resistance world
tour in 2006.
Bit Shifter explores high-energy, low-bit music composed
and performed on a standard
Nintendo Game Boy. The result is an
unapologetically fun foray into an
evocative and distinctive soundset,
executed on a console generally
misperceived as being technically
limited. Made possible by Oliver
Wittchow
and
Johan
Kotlinski’s
respective home-brew musicmaking
programs Nanoloop and Little Sound
Dj, Bit Shifter’s music explores the
aesthetics of economy and attempts
to push minimal hardware to its
maximum. Based in New York City, Bit
Shifter has released music on 8bitpeoples, 555 Recordings, Mirex,
Ketacore, and Astralwerks, and has performed over a hundred
shows worldwide.
