Changes at the Grapevine Chamber
The
Grapevine
Chamber
is having a great year, but
unfortunately the world keeps
spinning and things change.
For your Chamber, the change
comes in the form of a wonderful
opportunity for our Chairman
of the Board, Steve Haley, to be
transferred from the Hilton DFW
Lakes Executive Conference Center
to The Brown Palace Hotel and
Spa in Denver, CO, a luxury hotel,
with an over 100-year history. This
change will be effective June 1. We
are excited for the opportunity for
Steve and his wife, Maggie, and
wish them both much success.
As for the impact on the Grapevine
Chamber, your Board of Directors
voted at their Board Meeting,
May 3, to accept the Nominating
Committee’s recommendation for
the following appointments to the
Executive Board:
CHAIRMAN
Joe Szymaszek, Grapevine Mills
(Previously Chair-Elect)
CHAIR-ELECT
Theresa Mason, MIG Real Estate
(Previously Treasurer)
TREASURER
Nathaniel Neal, NJ Graphic Design, Inc.
VICE CHAIR OF BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS
LeAnn Brown, Silver Oak Commercial Realty, LLC
IMMEDIATE PAST CHAIR
Paul Slechta, Panda Embroidery
CEO
RaDonna Hessel,

Thank You Grapevine!
Another fantastic
Main Street Fest!
C ong r at u l at ion s
to the leadership
of our community
for another great
weekend and thank you to all
the amazing volunteers who truly
make this event happen!
Before we leave Grapevine, I
wanted to acknowledge and thank
the outstanding staff and leadership
team we have at your Grapevine
For a six month Board position
remaining due to these changes,
the Board appointed Jim Quinn
of the Gaylord Texan Resort &
Convention Center to fill the
unexpired term.
With such a great Chamber
and Board team, we expect the
transition to be smooth and
seamless. Again, we congratulate
Steve and look forward to
continuing to build a stronger
community for our businesses
and citizens.
Chamber of Commerce. They each
are passionate, take great pride in
what they do and represent our
city in a way we can all be proud
of. Additionally, I have enjoyed
working with an incredible Board
of Directors over the past six years
- all who volunteer and care about
the greater good of our community.
We have been very fortunate to
have made so many new friends in
our nearly eight years in Grapevine
- friends that we will truly miss and

Ambassador of the
Month – Linda Broom
Linda is a consultant with
Rovia Corporate Services, a
company providing amazing
vacation experiences as a
program for your managers and
employees. Human capital is a
business’ largest expense, and companies that
take care of their employees have significantly
higher employee productivity and retention. You
hired and trained them, and it’s cost effective
to keep good people rather than try and hire
new ones, which is where we can help. Rovia’s
corporate vacation benefit adds fun, freedom and
fulfillment to your employees’ lives by allowing
them to focus on their jobs and families, while we
make all the plans for their annual or biannual
vacation. They choose where they want to go,
with the peace of mind that it will be first class
and the arrangements will be taken care of, at a
cost guaranteed to be the lowest, or it’s free. An
excellent referral for Linda is a business owner
who cares about the well-being, happiness and
retention of his or her employees. Want to be a
hero to your employees? Contact Linda at (469)
525-0681 or [email protected].
Must Be
Present to
Win!
Those present at the May Membership
Luncheon saw the “Must Be Present to
Win” Drawing continue its climb. The prize
is now up to $450 for June. Each month
at the Chamber’s Membership Luncheon,
the drawing grows as long as the person
whose name is called is not in attendance.
To win, all you have to do is show up and
hear your name be called! How easy is
that? All Chamber members are eligible
to win, thanks to the sponsorship from
First Financial Bank, NA.

Effective
Leadership
Communication Grit, June 24!
with Brian Williams, June 16
Do you know the 4 C’s of
effective communication? When
you speak, does your audience
consider you believable? Does
your team regularly buy into
your ideas? After you speak,
does the audience remember
what you said?
To
learn
how
to
communicate more effectively,
join us at the June Grapevine
Chamber Luncheon, featuring
special guest speaker, Brian
Williams.
The
luncheon,
sponsored by Gaylord Texan
Resort & Convention Center
and catered by Brio Tuscan
Grille, will be Thursday,
June 16, at 11:30 a.m., at the
Grapevine Convention Center.
With over 20 years of global corporate leadership experience
ranging from Silicon Valley to Fortune 100 companies in 12
different countries, Brian Williams brings a new perspective
to the business of Sales & Communications Training. He
discovered that ineffective communication skills, and the
problems with traditional presentations, cut across country
borders and nationalities, so he wanted to give all speakers a
new perspective when he started Perspectivity.
He uses his years of corporate and global experience to
bring depth and professional insight to the communication
skills he enthusiastically teaches today.
He has worked with organizations such as Cisco, AT&T,
Gatorade, the NFL, and a private company that only serves
those on Forbes 400 richest people in the world.
Brian lives in Dallas with his wife and 4 children, and
is an avid runner, an amateur photographer, and enjoys
international travel.
Make plans to attend the luncheon at the Grapevine
Convention Center, located at 1209 S. Main St. (at the
corner of Vine St. & Municipal Way). The cost is $25 with
a reservation by 5 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, or $40 after that
date. There is a $5 fee for invoicing, and all reservations not
canceled by 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, will be billed.
Reservations can be made by contacting the Grapevine
Chamber at (817) 481-1522, emailing info@grapevinechamber.
org or visiting the Chamber website’s Events Page.
The Grapevine Chamber’s Business
Insight Series continues Friday, June
24, at The Courtyard/TownePlace
Suites by Marriot in Grapevine,
with Ross Paterson, Founder of
XM Performance, speaking on the
topic, Leadership Grit – The Key to
Accelerated Results.
One of Ross’ mentors in General Electric frequently
stated that Leadership is a ‘four-letter’ word, W-OR-K. Many times people strive to get the promotion,
start their own business, and become a manager,
only to find themselves stressed out, burned out
and frustrated with mediocre results. Gritty people
are overcomers, champions, and consistently deliver
Xtra Mile results. Ross has good news; GRIT can be
developed in you, in your team and in your business.
1.
2.
3.
4.
Gritty Leaders take on tough assignments
Gritty Leaders understand their ‘WHY’
Gritty Leaders create focus
Gritty Leaders deliver results
Would you like to dramatically accelerate your
results for the 2nd half of 2016, and what if you
could simultaneously reduce stress, and increase
the enjoyment of your leadership role? Join us and
learn how to strengthen your GRIT muscles.
The Business Insight Series is designed for
individual employees, managers or business owners
who are interested in improving or developing
their business skills. Check-in and registration is
from 7:30 – 8 a.m. and the program is from 8 –
9:30 a.m. Cost is $25 for Chamber members and
$30 for non-members. Register online at www.
GrapevineChamber.org or call (817) 481-1522.
Registration is required.

Women’s Division is Looking
Forward to Summer
Summer is on its way and the Women’s Division members
will be relaxing somewhat but will be preparing for our large
volunteer effort Saturday, August 6. We will be partnering with
GCISD, CONNECT and GRACE for the annual Back to School
event to be held at Grapevine High School. Due to the hard work
of our members and community attending the Holiday Hoedown
and the Great Taste of Grapevine, the Women’s Division will
be purchasing $30,000 of school supplies for deserving GCISD
students. We will also be working toward our newest fundraiser
Uncorked! Music in the ‘Vine, to be held at The Laurel, Friday,
August 19, 7:00 – 11:00 p.m. Stay tuned for more details!
Thank you to all of the Women’s Division members, colleagues
and family members that worked the Beer Booths for Main Street
Fest, Friday, May 20. Emily McRoberts of Homestead Grapevine
Winery Tasting Room and Casey Hege of Box Insurance Agency
helped get all of the ladies working, business was brisk most of
the day. Thanks to Emily and Casey for your efforts!
At the Women’s Division May Luncheon we enjoyed a
wonderful lunch at the Courtyard/TownePlace Suites by
Marriot. Thank you to Peggy Gutierrez and Candis Compass for
making us feel so welcome! Dr. Mark Kreamer, with Kreamer
Family Chiropractic, provided a very informative program on
the benefits of Chiropractic Care. Thank you to Dr. Kreamer
for your time. The June Luncheon program will be “Canine for
Companions.” The luncheon will be June 21 at 11:45 a.m. at
Messina Hof Grapevine Winery.

Join us in celebrating
National Splurge Day
Saturday, June 18th
There are many dates you look forward to
with great excitement and eager anticipation.
National Splurge Day is one of those days.
National Splurge Day is a day to treat yourself to anything you want. And, to excess if you desire. Isn't that
a great thing? Maybe, you're on a diet, and that special dessert is too many calories. Maybe, you want to
buy a some cute new shoes, and the budget is a little tight. Or maybe, you’ve had you’ve been wanting
some fancy new business cards, flyers or brochures for your business from NJ Graphics, but you still have
a bunch left of your old ones. Toss out the reservations, and go for it today!

Celebrate this day to the fullest degree. Treat yourself to anything you want, even if it’s not fat free. For, this
is a day to splurge on anything you urge. Do so without worry, concern or sorrow... at least until tomorrow.
