I don't know about you but I think I can see the downhill slide to spring!!! Although some days it is in the warm confines of my house. Won't be long before
we can start cooking outdoors in warm weather again.
We have several things coming up, including the Sertoma Chili Cook Off with
the Farrell Duncan Clinic. That should be a blast. I think we have all the help
planned but I would encourage everyone to go to the event and visit our booth.
Thanks to Di and Glenda for ram-roding it.
Thanks again to Stacye Henry for the work she is doing for "Gathering Friends".
What a great project, especially this time of year when it's so cold out for the
homeless people. Give all the support you can.
Plans are going on behind the scenes for the "Birdies In Paradise Golf Tournament" in May to support "Republic Care To Learn", The MOKSAROK Float
Trip In June, just to have phun, and the "Phlock At The Rock" in August. Yes,
we do actually plan that far ahead!! It looks like we have a large crew going to
Panama City in April for the "Panama City Rendezvous" as well. I found out my
brother from Wichita is bringing the motor home this year packed with a bunch
of Wichita members too! Should be a blast as usual and a chance to see Cy &
Kay Meyers, and Malcolm and Kathy Chase. Kim McKnabb is heading up a
gambling trip to Buffalo Run and details will follow soon.
Sounds like a jam packed year AND, we still have room for more to do!! Thank
you all for your help.
See you all at Cartoon's on the 5th of February!! TJ the DJ is going to help us
rock the night away! AND, we have a "Valentines Theme" going on too. Bring
your best anything Valentines and see if you can be the winner.....

Meet The Phlockers
Name: Bill Stoll & Leslie Sawyer
Family Information: Bill & Leslie grew up in the far west suburbs of Chicago; Bill focused on programing
computers and raising his 3 children, while Leslie worked as a school social worker. Then, on a fateful day in
2002, they caught each other’s eye across a crowded beer garden. Bill asked Leslie out, but the timing wasn’t
right, so she asked him for a rain check. Bill was a very patient man, and he waited four more years until Leslie finally decided to cash in the rain check. With the dream of helping animals, an owl (that’s a whole other
story) led Leslie & Bill to Brighton, Missouri in 2010. They took a huge leap of faith, leaving their jobs and
family to start an animal rescue on a gifted plot of farmland. Although, they still work full-time at Good Samaritan Boys Ranch helping at-risk teens, their focus right now is on creating a state-of-the-art cage-free sanctuary for cats. Their rescue is known as Eden Animal Haven and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity.
Favorite Jimmy Buffett Song: “A Pirate Looks at 40”

Subject: Gathering Friends Street Outreach Team post about someone they helped...
To: Bud Page <[email protected]>, Bud Page <[email protected]>
Hi Bud,
This is the post I was trying to get to you regarding the helping homeless group. Just an FYI on how amazing
this group is. Hope we can continue to help them.
Thanks, Stacye
(from Heather Ames Kennedy)
Street outreach is all about meeting emergency needs and reaching folks at risk. I'm happy to say I have good
news to share with the team. Some of you may remember the small fragile woman named Patricia that has
been coming to see us Tuesday nights. She is the lady from the post below. I have put together ALMOST
enough money to pay her rent for three weeks. She gets a small check on the first so I'm hopeful she will be
fine until the end of February. I have been reserving ...all of my bus passes for her (handing them out a few at
a time). Mark-Melinda Welch has some Boost and squeezable fruit to supplement her very limited diet which
should make things a little easier. Thank you Shannon Medley for helping put together some of the needed
money. It's so important to reach out to someone like Patricia who is new to our community and at risk of
homelessness. Oddly enough, just a month ago she was told she could be placed on the waiting list for the Missouri Hotel. She is such a good example of how we can use our outreach to asses needs and make a real impact on someone's life. Good job team!
(prior post from Heather...)
There is always a need. Tonight that need is $125.00. Sadly, that won't last long. $125.00 will keep one single
woman off the streets until the first. She has only been in Springfield approximately a month. She's here looking for family and has serious (she says terminal) health issues. She has a colostomy bag...she needs to have
access to a restroom. I am desperate to find help for this woman. The only problem is....she will be in the same
boat a month from now. I will accept any amount of help.

then you ask yourself what else could there be…we are Parrot Heads and that means the Party goes on
with Jim Asbell and the Tropiholics and Closing the Night out with Sauce Boss. Again you say that has to

Cheeseburger in Paradise right on the Beach and our Game Master for the last 10 years is back again

All these things that are happening…you must be asking yourself…
where do these great musicians play…where do I sit, how do I find where to go…what about beverages
and most of all where do I hide my Cooler?
Well the answers are EASY…
The Bands play on our Beach Stage that sits right in the Sand with the Backdrop of the beautiful Gulf of
Mexico…when we say
“On the Beach we really mean On the Beach”.
That also means you…bring your personal Beach Chair find your place in the sand and sit there all weekend in… put your toes in the Sand facing the Gulf of Mexico… watch the Band and dance in the Sand…
The Barefoot Bar is there if you want a drink or three or if you want food they have a full menu…
Your personal cooler gets lonely…bring it to the Beach filled with your favorite beverage.
How do I be part of this amazing event well it’s simple…
