The mighty St. Lawrence River not only attracts visitors for
its beautiful beaches and scenery, but some of the world’s best
freshwater diving can be found right here in Cornwall and the
Counties.
Each year thousands of divers flock to the over 40 dive sites
throughout the region, which includes the breathtaking 300ft
Eastcliffe Hall, and the sites of the famed Lost Villages like Lock
21, named one of Canada’s top five shore dives.
The amazing current of the St. Lawrence River has the
added benefit of eliminating thermoclines, meaning the water
remains the same temperature from top to bottom; a welcome
feeling for deep water divers.
With a vibrant underwater history and abundant aquatic life
with musky, bass, walleye, sturgeon, pike and more swimming
mere inches away, its no wonder the diving in our region is
considered some of the best!

The region of Cornwall and the Counties consists of a wide range
of historical cultures, which is nowhere more present than within our
First Nation community of Akwesasne. Each year thousands gather on
beautiful Cornwall Island, along the majestic St. Lawrence, to celebrate
the enchanting traditions of our First Nations at the Akwesasne
International Powwow.
Stimulate your senses with this remarkable display of culture that
includes beautiful, traditional attire, elaborate dance, drum and
smoke dance competitions and authentic craft and food vendors. The
extravagant Grand Entry, performed Saturday and Sunday at noon,
sets the table for the celebration with a beautifully colourful dance,
and throughout the day you can enjoy awe-inspiring performances
of traditional drumming, smoke dancing and top off the cultural
experience with some handmade wares from traditional Native artisans.
