FROm THE PAROCHiAL ADmiNiSTRATOR
Laudetur Jesus Christus!
Gelobt sei Jesus Christus!
Praised be Jesus Christ!
Congratulations to Fr. Adrian Hilton as we celebrate his ordination
to the priesthood and his First
Mass today. This is a happy time for
the parish and the entire Church.
When Christ established the priesthood on the evening of
Holy Thursday, he intended priests to sanctify the faithful
people of God. The priest is primarily ordained to offer the
Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and to offer forgiveness through
the Sacrament of Penance.
The priest is also ordained to preach the Gospel in
his words and in his action. Through the example of his life,
he is called upon to lead the people entrusted to his care
into greater holiness. We are each called to imitate and be
like Christ. How much more for the priest to be like Christ,
whom he has been permanently configured in a special way.
The priest is called upon to be Christ in the world.
As we celebrate this holy day, may we all be grateful for the priesthood. For all of those who have responded
generously to the Lord's call, willingly making the sacrifices
required to live this life. May we continue to pray each and
everyday for more men to respond generously to the Lord's
call to participate in His mission to save the world. And
today, may we in a particular way be grateful that Fr. Adrian
responded as generously as he has, to serve Our Lord and his
people in the priesthood.
Please be sure to say thank you to Fr. Adrian and his
family for their generosity and sacrifice. Please also be sure to
receive his First Priestly Blessing, which will be offered in the
court yard immediately following the First Mass. For those
who participate in the First Mass, a Plenary Indulgence is
offered under the usual conditions. The usual conditions are
Sacramental Confession within a week, detachment from
all sin, and prayers for the Holy Father's Intentions (Our
Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be). Don't miss out on this
opportunity to receive these special graces and gifts.
Please also be sure to pray for Fr. Adrian and for all
priests.
Have a blessed week ahead!
"Receive the oblation of the holy people to be offered to God, Understand
what you do, imitate what you celebrate, and conform your life to the
mystery of the Lord’s cross." - Rite for the Ordination of Priests

Each time we sin, we cause effects to go beyond us, even after we
have confessed and been absolved. These are the consequences of
the decisions we have made. For example, if we steal something
and then go to confession and received absolution, the fact still
remains we may not have yet made proper restitution and caused
suffering on the part of the person we stole the item. Indulgences
help make up for this 'temporal punishment' due to sin. When
one attends the first Mass of a priest, a person is able to receive a
Plenary Indulgence (full remission of temporal punishment) under
the usual conditions. Please see my column for the usual conditions. For those unable to fulfill the usual conditions, a Partial
Indulgence is granted. Please don't miss out on this opportunity to
help atone for our sins and participate in Christ's saving actions.
What Indulgences are attached to newly ordained priests?

From the Saints
"O Priest! You are not yourself because you are God.
You are not of yourself because you are the servant and
minister of Christ. You are not you own because you are
the spouse of the Church. You are not yourself because
you are the mediator between God and man. You are
not from yourself because you are nothing. What then
are you? Nothing and everything. O Priest! Take care lest
what was said to Christ on the cross be said to you: "He
saved others, himself he cannot save!" -Saint Norbert
Congratulations!
Congratulations to Fr. Adrian Hilton, Fr. Eric Wood,
and Fr. Ethan Moore who were ordained by Archbishop
Schnurr yesterday at the Cathedral. May the Lord bless
them abundantly as they begin their priestly ministry!

breathe over our nation and create a new Culture of Life
that welcomes the stranger, feeds the poor, and cherishes
every child, born and unborn.
