BearBiever Productions Logo Design
Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
The final goal for this project was to create a brand identity manual, designing our own logo for
an established or invented company. I chose to take a family name and create a fictional video
production company entitled ‘BearBiever Productions.’ This was a month long project in which I
developed the logo itself, a business card for myself, and three other applications (including the
tripod pictured above) for my logo. This was all put in a brand identity manual created in
InDesign detailing the proper use of my logo.

Star Wars Magazine Article
InDesign
With this project I explored the fundamentals of layout design. I chose to use Star Wars as my
topic and filled a blank magazine page with words and images from Wikipedia. The emphasis
was making sure that the visual aspect of the magazine was aesthetically pleasing, using the
grid based design philosophy. This project took approximately a week to complete a five page
document

Vehcon Concept iOS Design
Illustrator
During Summer 2012, I was employed as an intern at a startup company called Vehcon. One of
my projects was to conceptualize what an iPhone app for a product called “OdoFoto” might look
like. This design was used by the executives to pitch their idea to insurance companies. This
application would help insurance companies collect odometer information more frequently.

Tetris
Java
My Object Oriented Design class final project was to model Tetris. Using only Java (and no GUI
builders) I designed and coded a game of Tetris which handled row clearing, save states, random
piece generation, and score display. This project was completed in two weeks.

Pong Reloaded
Batari Basic
Pong: Reloaded is the game of Pong with new features to make the game more interesting and
fast-paced, combining elements from Pong and Breakout. Users are able to move the paddle
freely on their side of the field and shoot the ball to cause a collision and increase the balls’
speed. The project was written in Batari Basic, which allows (with some tweaks and oddities)
for a programmer to write code in the format of Basic for an Atari emulator. The software and
hardware constraints of the Atari such as the size of the playing field are conserved in the
emulator, and challenged my creativity in designing the program. The program was created in
three weeks in a group setting, and I was responsible for a large majority of the programming
and design choices.

Winter Forest in the Morning
Canon T3i, Photoshop
This photograph combined several photographs with multiple exposures to create a High
Dynamic Range (HDR) photo, which I then stylized in Photoshop. The interplay between the
light just coming over the horizon and the fresh snow brings out interesting color combinations
throughout the image.

Flashlights in the Quinzee
Canon T3i – f/1.8; 20 sec; ISO 160
This shot was technically difficult due to the full dark of an overcast night. With such a long
exposure time, the focus was done manually, pulling out the details of the internally lit quinzee
(snow shelter) while having a pleasingly out of focus forest in the background. I was pleased
that I was able to capture the light that shone through the walls of the quinzee as well.

The Deal
video
Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop
The Deal was a video entry into the Lightsaber Choreography Contest which requires a video of
choreographed lightsaber combat. I led the project as the Producer and Effects Designer,
recruiting others to help bring the project from inception to creation.
Specifically I was
responsible for designing the choreography, acting as a combatant, editing the video, mixing
audio and music, and adding in special effects.

Lightsaber Handle
prop
Inventor, 3D Printer, Lathe, Mill
(click and drag the model to rotate)
When preparing for “The Deal” (see above), we decided to use custom machined hilts with
carbon fiber blades. I rapidly prototyped the model using Autodesk Inventor and a 3D printer
available to me. I was able to go through 5 iterations before choosing the perfect design. I then
machined stock aluminum on a lathe to match the CAD model, using the mill to add the hole for
the mounting screw. The props looked and felt authentic and were a strong addition to our
video.
