John 8:2-11
At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people
gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the
law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her
stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught
in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such
women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in
order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.
7
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them,
“Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8
Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9
At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older
ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10
Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one
condemned you?”
11
“No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave
your life of sin.”
1. DO I BELIEVE LIVING IN THE LIGHT IS FAR BETTER THAN LIVING IN THE DARKNESS?
John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the
world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the
light of life.”
DO YOU BELIEVE THAT FOLLOWING GOD IS BETTER THAN
ANYTHING SIN HAS TO OFFER?
“I know of no other way to triumph over sin long-term than to gain a
distaste for it because of a superior satisfaction in God.”
John Piper in “Desiring God”
“What comes are words of grace, ‘Neither do I condemn you,’ and
words of truth, that her life of sin needs to be left behind……The
trembling subsides. Her face softens. The furrows on her forehead
relax. She looks into his face. His forehead relaxes. It has been an
ordeal for Him, too. He takes a breath and his smile seems to say
‘Go, you’re free now.’”
Ken Gire
2.DO I USE THE BIBLE TO DECIDE WHAT’S RIGHT AND
WRONG?
Some questions to help me to leave
behind a life of sin:
John 8:16-18
But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with
the Father, who sent me. 17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of
two witnesses is true. 18 I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness
is the Father, who sent me.”
John 8:15
“You judge by human standards….”
God is the objective source of truth.
3
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting
and training in righteousness, …
John 8:58-59
“Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I
am!” 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself,
slipping away from the temple grounds.
Hebrews 13:4
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for
God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
John 8 starts out with a woman
caught in adultery who is going to
be stoned … it ends with people
trying to stone Jesus.
Job 31:1
“I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman.
3. DO I REALIZE WHAT MY SIN IS COSTING ME?
Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on
its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let
your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify
your Father in heaven.
John 8:24
I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he,
you will indeed die in your sins.”
There are always consequences to
sin.
It is amazing the difference that one
light can make in a dark room.
Proverbs 6:32
But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so
destroys himself.

2015 Year-End Income and Expense
John 8:31-32

teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the
truth will set you free.”

The pastors and staff want to express our appreciation to the congregation
for your faithfulness over the past year. God has been very good to Purpose
Church and we are excited as we move into 2016 to see all that God has
planned for us.
“Set you free” = Free from the penalty of sin AND
free from the power of sin.
John 8:33-36
They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never
been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”
34
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to
35
sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to
it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
MOMENTUM UPDATE
This past year, we saw a major improvement made possible through the
Momentum campaign. The completion of the Community Terrace and the new
Play Yard have been an exciting addition to our facilities and are being used
every week. Thanks to the faithfulness of God's people, we have been able to
complete the Terrace and Play Yard. We have had $134,863 designated and set
aside or already applied for debt reduction.
The Momentum campaign has raised $1,521,891. After the play yard
and terrace have been completed, the trustees have been looking at the
next projects to be done. In evaluating the condition of Buildings E, F, G, the
Trustees have decided that our next project will be to repair and paint those
buildings. The painting work will start around mid March and will take three to
four months to complete.
One of the other goals for Momentum (if we had raised all that we were
hoping to raise) was to be able to put a whole new look on Buildings B and H.
With the painting project underway, the Trustees will now evaluate if we can
do one of those buildings or perhaps the street side of those buildings first.
Many of you continue to give towards Momentum and the Trustees are
grateful for that and encourage you to continue to do so. Everything given for
Momentum has been and will be used to help us complete these projects and
retire debt.
TODAY, immediately following the 11:11am service in C101, we will
have an informational meeting for any who would like more information on
Momentum and the projects we are looking forward to in the future.
5. AM I BUYING INTO ANY OF THE DEVIL’S LIES?
John 8:44-45
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s
desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for
there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for
he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not
believe me!
“How does Satan lie to us? Two ways I see it today: 1st — Satan has
turned grace into a license to sin. 2nd – Satan has convinced us God
could never forgive us for our sin.” Dane Aaker
Romans 8:1-2
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ
Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has
set you free from the law of sin and death.
6.DO I LIVE LIKE I’M CONVINCED JESUS IS GOD?

Easter Offering
We Love Kids
Barry x3029, [email protected]
This year, our Easter Offering
will again go towards updating and
equipping our Children’s facilities
to reflect our desire to have a fun,
attractive, and safe place for kids and
their families to come to church and
learn about Jesus. The offering last
year focused on this area and many
improvements have been made,
including some facility changes,
new equipment, and a new checkin system. But there is much more
that we want to do to invest in the
lives of our children. Our Children’s
Ministries has grown since the fall of
last year and we want to be able to
provide better and better facilities for
our children.
Please mark you giving envelope,

through March and April. On behalf
of our children, thank you for your

of God if you were debt-free? Dave
Ramsey’s nine-week Financial Peace
University (FPU) will help you work
out a plan for your money, spending,
saving, and investing. This class will
change your future! FPU will teach
you how to handle money God’s way,
and His way works!
Our FPU class, facilitated by
Janet Gifford, will meet Sundays,
8:30-9:30am, April 3 through June
5 in H100. Please register and pick
up a brochure at the Resource Center
in our lobby by March 30. The cost
is $100 but members and regular
attenders of Purpose Church will get
the full cost refunded if they attend
all sessions.

These last two Saturdays before
Easter are critical times to be praying
for our cities. Walk and pray with
us as we seek God for our city.
Prayerwalkers meet this Saturday in
front of the Administration Building
at 8am. Using the Seek God for the
City prayer guides, available for $3
at the Resource Center, walkers
pray specifically for people of our
city. Have an iOs or Android phone?
Download the Seek God app for
99 cents at waymakers.com/app
for access to reminders, country
information from Operation World
and other useful features.
Harvesting for Hope
The Gleaning Hope program,
in partnership with Food Forward,
provides backyard harvesting services
to salvage fruits and vegetables for
distribution to hungry families at
our food pantry. Simply call 909622-3806 #108 and they’ll send a
volunteer team with equipment to
complete the pick at a time of your
choosing. Help those in need while
ridding your home of rotting produce
that can attract pests and rodents.

Blood Pressure Screening

A new five-week volleyball
league is beginning April 1 at 6pm in
the Pomona Campus Gym (F Building
second floor). The league is for adults
of all ages and high school students.
Invite friends to play with you! Enter
a team from your Rooted or Life
Group or sign up individually and we
will place you on a team. The league
will be a lot of fun with six person/
coed rules and referees. Come out
for a practice night on March 18 to
find out more about the league and
connect with a league. If you have
any questions, write volleyball on
