Summer - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor Essex
Big Brothers Big Sisters Windsor Essex
April 2012
A Message From The Executive Director
~ John Sutton
It’s been a busy start to 2012 at
BBBSWE. Our annual Bowl for
Kids Sake event has raised over
$44,000 for the agency and its programs.
We are looking forward to our new
twist on the annual Battle of the
Hors D’Oeuvres. Under the direction of our committee chair, Sharri
Hamelin and our Development Officer, Hayley Morgan we have transformed the gala into a fun, interactive, business casual after work
event. This year’s date is Thursday,
April 26th, 2012 with doors opening
at 6 pm at the St. Clair College Centre for the Arts. Tickets are $75 and
you’ll have a chance to sample hors
d’oeuvres from 11 of Windsor’s
finest restaurants and 3 wineries as
you truly Amuse Your Bouche!
In March we held our Annual General Meeting and took the opportunity to honour some special people. On behalf of our Board of Di-
rectors, I was pleased to present
awards to the Windsor Spitfires,
Roth Mosey & Partners LLP and
Home Depot for their support of
our all our mentoring programs. We
also honoured two long-serving volunteers, Sharri Hamelin and Chantelle Foreman for their dedicated service to the agency and its mission.
It makes for a special evening when
you can honour so many for all they
do for the youth of Windsor-Essex.
Don’t forget there are countless
ways to help the agency out for as
little as one hour per week. We are
always looking for volunteers to help
us with our mentoring programs, our
committees and our special events.
It really is a lot of fun and a great
way to help out the youth of our
community.

Bowlers Make a BIG Difference!
A big thank you to all of the volunteers, sponsors and participants who helped to make our 2012 Bowl for Kids Sake event
a success! Through the support of local businesses and the hard work of all our bowlers who collected pledges, we were
able to raise $44,000 for our youth mentoring programs. These funds will help to recruit, screen and train caring adult
mentors who will make a BIG difference in the life of children in Windsor and Essex County.
Special recognition goes to our corporate sponsors; Tim Hortons, AM800 CKLW, The Windsor Star, TV Cogeco, CAW
444, Vistaprint, 93.9 The River, Valiant, Windsor Mold, Windsor Crossings and all of our many lane sponsors. We would
also like to acknowledge the hard work and support of the event committee and chair, Chantelle Foreman. Finally, we
would like to thank Rose Bowl Lanes, Empire Lanes and Bowlero for all of their behind the scenes assistance.
Congratulations to our top fundraiser Peter Quick who raised $1,025 and received a Nintendo Wii, $100 Windsor Crossing
gift card, Tim Hortons prize pack and a $50 Tim Hortons gift card. Honorable mention goes to Shad from the United
Communities Credit Union team for his tireless fundraising efforts!
See you in 2013!

Windsor Spitfire Tickets
Many thanks to the Windsor Spitfires for donating 2011-2012 Windsor Spitfire season tickets for our
volunteers and families! Many of our
volunteers, Little Brothers/Sisters
and families got to enjoy games
throughout this past season and had
tons of fun!
Our programs and services meet the needs of over 600 children and their families on an annual basis. Interacting with peers and mentors through group programs, one-to-one matches, fostering self-esteem and enhancing social skills are a few of the programs and benefits. The children we serve have unique needs that
require qualified case workers in conjunction with volunteers to create effective change.
Your dollars directly impact the programming for our Little Brothers and our Little Sisters. Our Annual Giving
Campaign is a fund resource tool that enhances our efforts to assist our Littles in the Windsor and Essex
County area. Your pledge will help build a solid foundation for our organization to continue offering innovative
programs now and in the future.
Please make Big Brothers Big Sister Windsor Essex your philanthropic priority to invest in the children of our
community. It’s as easy as completing this form and either mailing it or faxing it back to our office at the address below. Or, now you can donate online by going to www.canadahelps.org and choose Big Brothers
