Survey of the Building
• The survey of the as-built was devoted
to:
• derive plans, elevations and sections
(2D)
• derive a BIM model (3D)
• Both 2D and 3D support the design of
the retrofitting
• Survey strategy:
• 3D map of the façade through laser
scanning
• Superficial measurement of Tª, H
and heat flow.
• Instruments:
• Datalogging with SIM card.
• 18 superficial sensors
• 3 exterior sensors
• 3 interior sensors

Survey of the Building
• By thermografic infrared imaging cameras
we are seeing the homogeneity of the wall
and the existence of thermal bridges.
• By the BIM methodology we can simulate
our house with energy analysis and solar
studies.

The objective is to collect data through out several sensors before and after the
retrofitting works we are going to do on a house façade in Madrid. The façade has 24
m2 (8 meters long x 3 meters high). The duration of monitoring will be of 12 months,
covering the 4 annual seasons. Data to be measured and collected will be of Humidity,
Temperature and heat flow.
• Starting from a brick Wall that hasn´t got cavity wall.

ACTIONS TO DO:
1. To obtain a 3D map of the facade through laser scanning to assess homogeneity of
the wall.
2. Superficial measurement of temperature and humidity and heat flow.

ACTIONS TO DO:
1. Construction the cavity Wall by dry thin partitions, type knauf or pladur.
2. Superficial measurement of temperature, humidity and heat flow. We want to
keep the sensor inside the cavity wall to evaluate the performance when the rest
of elements will be added.
3. Stuff the cavity Wall by perlite filler.
4. Superficial measurement of temperature, humidity and heat flow.
