Tamro n has deve loped a series of lenses that
meet the mos t exacting sta nd ard s of seri ous
pho tographers. The lenses deliver such
o uts tanding performance they are des ignated
the SP (Super Perform ance) series.
The SP lenses are designed with spec ial fea tures
and material s that produce sharp, cri sp, true
co lor im ages. These are the culminati on of
Tamro n's ex perti se in the des ign and
manufac ture of high quality lenses.
The LD (Low Di spersion) telephoto lenses are
unique in Tamro n's seri es of professiona l grade
SP lenses. The LD glass elements used in the
lenses fu ll y co mpe nsa te fo r color aberrations
whi ch are apt to occ ur in a large-aperture
telephoto lens. All fo ur Tamron LD lenses
incorpo rate Low Di spersion glass in the front
element group to optimize opti ca l performan ce.
They can cap ture a sharp, cl ean image eve n at
a greater di stance. Eac h lens is engraved with a
green line whi ch is the symbo l o f the highest
perform ance and quality.
Whether photographing sports, racing eve nts,
w ild li fe or nature, Tamron 's LD teleph oto lenses
can produce dramati c images.
Low-Dispersion glass enables chromat ic
aberrations to be reduced to a bare minim um
which results in clear crisp im ages with virtuall y
true colo r reproduction . In co nventi o nal
telephoto lenses, the longer the focal length
and the faster the aperture, the more likely
chro mati c aberratio ns will occ ur, ca using
deteri orati on of image quality.
As light enters the lens, the foc using poi nt is
scattered, depending on the light's w ave length
(co lo rl. Ordinary lens es compensa te fo r thi s by
using a co mbination of con ca ve or convex
elements with regular optical glass materi als,
how ever, res idual chromati c aberrati o ns w ill
remain.

Th is superior handling telephoto zoom lens offers
excellent portability. It is idea l fo r photojourna lism,

This LD lens feat ures an Internal Foc using system which
ma kes the lens smaller and easier to handle with
outstanding balance. LD glass is used in the two front
elements prod ucing the highest optical performa nce.
The mini mum foc using distance is 4 feel, the shortest
of all lenses in this class. The F/ 2.5 aperture is also 25 %
faster than other F/ 2.B lenses.
This lens is idea l fo r portrait photography pa rticularly
w hen a blurred background effect is desired . It also
delivers excellent perfor mance in stage photography
w ith low light conditions.

These lenses are deSigned to meet the criti cal
standards of the most demanding professio nal
photographers. A revolutionary design and LD glass in
the lenses's two front elements mea n color and
spheri cal aberrations, image di stortion s and other
aberrations are thoroughly compensated for. These
lenses produce sharp, clear images even at 'full apertu re
making them particularly useful for shooting fast
moving subjects, freezing the action with ultra-high
shutter speeds ava ilable on today's camera s.
Both lenses have a Vari-Pitch Foc using mechani sm
which optimizes the rotation angles of the foc using ring
from the closest shooting distance to infinity. They also
have a Pre-Set Focusing Stop w hich facilitates quicker
shooting. Combined w ith Intern al Foc using, these lenses
offer incredible handling ease.
For ultra-teleph oto photography, the focal length of the
400mm can be extended to S60mm F/ 5.6 w hen
combined w ith an SP 1.4 x teleconverte r. The 300mm
can be extended to 420mm F/ 4 with a 1.4 X
teleconverter.
Both the 300mm and 400mm are made to with stand
heavy duty use and deliver conSistentl y excellent results.
