My name is Maggie
Gilson and I am the returning Lieutenant Governor for the Citrus division.
The University of Central
Florida is my home, where
I am majoring in Political
Science with an emphasis
in pre-law. I have been a
part of the K-family since
2005 and now I can’t think
of anything else I would
rat h e r
spend my
time doing.
T h e
friends you meet and the
opportunities you come
across are some of the
great benefits of this wonderful organization.
This is my second
year as the Citrus Lt. Governor, and I have quite a
plan for this division. My
number one goal is to get
all the existing clubs in
good club standing, along
with adding at least one
new club.
I have two divisional projects this year.
One coincides with Governor Kadie’s literacy project, where we are collecting books to donate to
youth organizations.

I want to give some personal shout outs to a few people who have helped me out
over the summer. First off, I would like to thank Wade and Mamma Bethy for their
mentorship, constant positive encouragement, for every time they go out of their
way to make sure the CKIer’s are taken care of and for all the yummy snacks!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I would also like to thank Matthew Cantrall for tremendously helping out with the
Southeastern University tabling. Look for an article next issue to hear about how
successful tabling was.
Lastly, Thank you Dr. Jenkins for being a key factor in the re-chartering of Stetson.

I hope you all
are finding your summer months treating
you well! Make sure to
relax, and enjoy them
before they are all
gone! This year is going to be a great one
for all of us, and I expect GREAT things
from the fabulous Citrus Division! This

is
“Building Blocks; Foundations for Florida.”
This theme ties in both
my governor’s project
as well as my goals for
the year. I look forward to returning the
focus of this organiza-
tion back to you, the
members. The governor’s project is a focus
on literacy both in
youth and in adults.
The ability to read is
one of the greatest
gifts one can give to
another and one that is
truly the foundation of
an individual’s education and future. It is a
gift that we, as the
Florida District, will
give to those in need
throughout Florida this
coming year.
If you are looking for Governor’s
Project ideas, keep an
eye out for some fabulous information from
our Projects Chair! In
the meantime, think
about how you can get
involved in tutoring in
your local community.
No age is off limits!
You can get involved
with schools, afterschool programs, or
adult learning facilities.
You can also get creative and promote literacy through book
drives, book fairs, etc.

What has Stetson Been Up To?
Hello Everyone!
My name is Rob
Meuse and I am the new
President of the Stetson
CKI club. I am a senior
accounting major from
the Boston
area.
As a
club, we are
still in the
process of
receiving
our charter,
CITRUS CHRONICLE
a process started by our
old President, Michael
Werner. Stetson Circle
K ended the year off
strong. Members helped
serve breakfast early in
the morning at a 5K run
sponsored by Deland
Kiwanis Club. We also
held a very fun car wash
that raised over $100 for
a local school for children with autism. We
also volunteered at the
Junior Olympics along
with the Deland Kiwanis
Club and the Deland
High School Key Club.
The competitors were in
the 4th and 5th grade.
At Stetson, we
are very eager to receive
our charter and are
looking forward to the
upcoming year. I would

Golden Days Drift Away…
Bridget Hall
It seems like it was just
yesterday when the new
board took their golden
seat and began the
golden journey of success for UCF CKI. Since
then we have continued
to travel down that path
by remaining semi-active
over the summer. We
have our meetings on
the second Monday of
the month at 6:30pm and
at least 2 projects a
week. We are also collecting books for all ages
this summer until September 1, which marks
the beginning of literacy
month. We will be giving
the books to local title 1
schools so if you have
some, please donate
them so a child can fully
embrace their potential
and READ! Also as you
all may know we are selling raffle tickets for our
Sizzling Summer Fundraiser. So if
you
have

all proceeds will go towards ICON and the
Mighty Mighty Florida

Lately we have
been attending Ice
Cream Socials at Freshman Orientations to recruit new members into
the Golden life of CKI.
We have recruited quite
a few Key Clubbers so
hopefully they remain
faithful to the K-Family
and all that we stand for.
Speaking of K-Family, we
have been getting more
acquainted with our local
Kiwanis clubs by attending their meetings and
projects. Just last week I
and our club editor attended a Kiwanis DCM
and it was so great to
hear of their excitement
for the upcoming year
working with us as well
as the other K-Family
members. They will be
having a garage sale next
month to raise money
for the K-Kids, Builders
Club, Key Club, Aktion
Club, and yes, the CKI
clubs too. So if you have

These Golden
Days of summer are
drifting away but the
memories of CKI will
always stay. We are excited about what has
been done and we look
forward to the bright
