In creating 245 Tenth, award-winning architects Jared
Della Valle and Andrew Bernheimer looked to the natural
and manmade contextual enviroment of west Chelsea,
Manhattan’s epicenter of modern art. Inspired by this
vibrant context, as well as transient forms in nature and the
trains that once frequented the adjacent High Line, Della
Valle Bernheimer conceived thearresting, forward-looking
design of 245 Tenth.
Della Valle Bernheimer is a New York based architectural practice founded on recognizing moments
of simultaneity and exploring the unexpected through the innovative use of the familiar and the
available. Della Valle Bernheimer insistson researching both form and material in an effort to locate
those moments when client and architect realize that there actually is a kind of invention in familiarity,
and ispiration in waiting for the right time to mix things up. The reward is the mantle of inventor, and
the satisfaction of knowing that one can achieve innovation while working with both the intimately and
the vaguely familiar. Della Valle Bernheimer’s work includes cultural, civic, commercial and residential
projects as well as furniture and fixture design. Della Valle Bernheimer is a member of the U.S. Green
Building Council. Passion for design and attention to detail, supported by dedication and business
savvy, brought Della Valle Bernheimer to 459

Much sought-after for their sophisticated modern aesthetic,
combinig signature creativity with the latest in technological
advances, Della Valle Bernheimer is one of the most exciting
firms working in architecture today. Passion for design and
attention to detail, supported by dedication and business
savvy, brought Della Valle Bernheimer to 459 West 18th
as design architects and developers. Taking on both roles
presented avenues for seamlessly implementing rigorous
standards for design, functionality and efficiency; by acting
as their own client, Della Valle Bernheimer gained greater
control to fully realize and execute their creative vision.

The White Building, in the B3 district of Center City,
is a historic structure that has been trasformed by
GoldmanProperties to meet the demands of modern
urban living. Elements of the past are embraced for their
design and complemented by a modern yet approachable
aesthetic. Classic elements like elegant, brick, barrelvaulted ceilings are juxtaposed perfectly by modenist
interiors and advanced technology and finishes. The
design is a result of understanding how the modern urban
dweller lives. The spaces at The White Building were not
made for everyone. Rather, they were built with a specific
person in mind-one who lives to entertain, and who has
a discriminating eye for design and architecture. As a
result, every nuance, from lighting to tiles, and hardware
to fixtures, has been designed with a heightened sense of
form and function.

Emre Arolat Architects was founded im May 2004, as the continuation of Emre Arolat’s architectural practice which he started at
Arolat Architects as an associate designers in 1987. Arolat Architects was founded in 1961 and the group has drawn significant
professional experience from regular contributions to architectural competitions and executed significant housing, tourism facilities,
leisure centers, admistrative buildings and sports grounds projects. The practice is being continued with the same range of projects
in EAA, with a staff of 25 people. Architectural significance of the group was supported by many awards, two of which, wothwhile
to depict, are the 2005 European Union Prize Mies Van Der Rohe Award 2005 (Selected work) / Minicity Model Park in Antalya,
Turkey and 2006 Architectural Review Awards for Emerging Architecture (Highly Commended) / Dalaman International Airport in
Mugla, Turkey. In the architectural design process at EAA, main decisions consider interpretation of the “context”, in its widest
sense. In this case, each context anticipates different approaches and this leads to an architectural practice where a conceptual
and positional consistency is valid, rather than specific visual correspondences. The material use is determined by a categorical
approach, depending on its visual and tactile nature, rather than designation of an inevitable specific material. Consequently, a
flexible architectural expression is pursued on the basis of a definite conceptual ground.
