A
lake and a fountain have
a calming effect on those
who enter through the iron
gates as you approach the
Resource Center. Then
when you notice the “duck
crossing” sign, you smile, and the stress of the
day is lifted. What a pleasant way to shop, especially with the promise of such good finds.
After more than 25 years as an interior
designer, I made the decision to open a showroom. I had shopped the Resource Center for
many years and had watched it undergo many
changes. There were a number of reasons that
made it appealing to me for my new venture,
and I know people shopping there will also
appreciate these same reasons.
The showrooms at the center are so
approachable – with both ease of access and
user friendliness. You can pull up to the front
door to either give a quick check for new merchandise or to load items quickly into your car.
The interaction and synergy of the showroom
are also good and appreciated by a shopper. If
you haven’t found just the right solution at
one showroom, they will often refer you to
another. The spirit of helpfulness and cooperation is definitely alive.
The floor to ceiling window views of the
grounds and the eleven-foot ceilings allow good
natural sunlight to view products. This lighting feature has drawn many designers to the
center. Also appreciated are the large, covered
walkways that allow you to move from showroom to showroom, which additionally have

piped in music to add to the calm atmosphere.
There are both residential and commercial
showrooms in the creative environment and
also excellent designers and architects. You
can find the best of interior furnishings and
both indoor and outdoor furniture. The floor
coverings available include carpet and area
rugs, old, new and antique oriental rugs, and
hard surface solutions such as luxury vinyls
and hardwood flooring. There is a lot of
lighting to be found, from lamps to chandeliers – both new, antique and custom. You can
find wonderful art and artists and galleries.
Antiques abound from all around the world.
Both traditional and minimal accessories in
all price ranges are available from the floor in
several showrooms. Two of the largest floral
showrooms are located here, specializing in
high quality permanent trees, plants and florals, either custom or ready made.
As I had anticipated, the Resource Center has been the perfect location to show my
accessories, antiques, art, custom pieces and
unique one-of-a-kind selections from around
the world in a comfortable and service oriented showroom.
Located at 7026 Old Katy Road, the
Resource Center is easily accessed from Loop
610 and I-l0 or Katy Freeway. The HOV lane
allows easy freeway access to West Houston,
East to downtown and North to 290.
There are major lines as well as unique
one-of-a-kind selections to be found. Some
