How children and people spend their free time in Kamień
Spring
I ride a bike in the wood. Sometimes I go for a walk with my friends,
we visit each other and we talk a lot about different things.
When it is a nice weather I spend my free time outside but
when it is rainy I watch TV or read books.
Summer
I go to the swimming pool in my garden. Sometimes I ride a bike
in the wood. We have very beautiful woods in Kamień and a lot of people
go there.
Winter
I ski and skate. My family often goes to the mountains for a weekend
and we go to Wisła during winter holidays. We like the time we can
be together. In winter I sometimes go with my father and sister
to the city. In the city there is an ice rink. We like skating very much.

Hello! In my free time I write e-mails with my best
friends. I love it, and I can write very fast.
My friends like joking and it makes me very
happy. I like watching TV, playing games, reading
books and meet with my friends. When I watch TV
I always watch interesting films. Sometimes I find
a boring one and then I turn of the TV.
My favourite games are missbimbo.com. In this
game we have got a model and we are wearing her.
We must take care of this model. I always read
books in which I can find a lot of interesting
adventures. I meet with my friends in the park.
In the park we always have great time.

Free Time in our village

People in our village can spend their free time in very interesting places. Childrens'

and colourful. When you want to spend your free time actively, you can go
to the sports hall. In the sports hall you can play football, volleyball
or basketball, you can go to the
jacuzzi or to the gym. If you want
to spend your free time with the
nature, you can go for a walk
to the beautiful woods or ride a
bike in it.
A lot
of people in our village like
paintball. They can do that
in a special place.
In our village there is
a restaurant "Babilon". During
the weekends a lot of parties
are organized in this place.
In summer my free time
I spend playing football, playing rugby, riding a bike and
playing computer games.
I love riding a bike, this is
my favourite sport XC.
In autumn, my free time I spend playing

is Msr. Joanna Porszke.

our
school
She teaches in our
school for 19 years. She teaches Polish language. She lives in Kamień for 18 years. She
became the Headmistress on 1st September
2001
and
now
she
is
still
our
head.
She has got 2 daughters - Paulina and Emilia. Our head mistress
likes swimming very much.
Our Clergyman Jerzy Korduła was born on 12th February 1952
in Boguszowice . He lives in Kamień now and is our priest for 20
years. His first parish was in Chorzów. We like our priest very
much.
He
built
the
church
in
Kamień and he takes care for it.
Our priest helps poor people in
Kamień and children at school.
Twice a year he gives a special
reward to the best pupils.

History of Kamień
Kamień is a quarter of Rybnik -the district town situated in Silesia on the
South of Poland. Kamień ( English Stone ) has its own coat of arms a stonemason with a hammer and
a stone in his hands. The genesis
of the name of our place is connected
with a stone work tradition. People,
who were living here produced things
for domestic use as for example hand
The second landowner of
Kamień was Mr. Spendel.
Forests, fields and ponds
were included into his property. The water from ponds
was used for water mills,
sawmills and thresing machines. It is also known,that
there was a glasswork in
Kamień set up by von
Gurecky. The sand from the
woods which surrounded
Kamień, was used for producing glass.

many shops.
What you can find in Kamień
In Kamień we have got
a very old lime trees. It is
said that king Jan III Sobieski planted these trees
when he was going on the
war with Turkey. Now we
have got only one tree because the second one was
cut down. This is a monument of nature.
In Rybnik there is a power
station. It produces electricity. Near a power station there is a big water basin. It is an artificial pond.
Its water is used by the
power station. People from
Rybnik often come here to
rest, swim, windsurf and sail
on our „Rybnik see”.
An old mill
It is an old house in Kamień. Many
years ago it was a mill. People from
Kamień came here to mince wheat.
People still live in this house.
The Chapel
In Kamień there is the historic chapel. It was
founded in the first half of the nineteenth century by the knight called Eigert. Some years it
was renovated by local authority. Our chapel is
situated near the small river called Kamionka.
In Kamień we have got a lot of beautiful woods and
a lot of flowers. When you go for a walk to the
wood you can start your journey at this point. In
this picture you can see a beautiful pond . You can
The parish of Kamień is very young. It has existed for 15 years. At
the beginning there was a chapel only with St. Albert as a patron.
On1st November 1989 the bishop Gerard Bernacki blessed new altar
and the painting of the parish patron. Construction of the church in
Kamien began in 1990. After four years of works the church was
consecrated on 3rd September 1994. Today almost all people from
Kamień attend the holy Masses. In 2006 there was pipe organ installed in the church. The organs are used during Masses and concerts.
In Kamień there is a Fire
Brigade Kamień. We have
two cars MAN TGM 13.290
and Volkswagen Transporter. We have 40 members. The oldest fireman is 40 years old, but the youngest
is 8 years old. Sometimes firemen come to school to teach
pupils the first aid. These
lessons are very interestIn Kamień there aren’t any supermarkets or big shops. In
Kamień there are only four
small food shops with newspapers and bread, one chemist’s ,
one cake shop with biscuits,
cakes and delicious cheesecakes, pavilions and a butcher.
In Kamień there is a kindergarten. In this place there was a post office a long time ago and even earlier a school and now there is a kindergarten with a library.
In our village there is a library, where you can read and borow books. If you want something
to eat you can go to our restaurant. This restaurant is big and very nice.
We have travell agency too. People in our village often go to our church. Our church is very
nice. It is twenty years old. Pupils from our village willingly go to school. This school is very
nice. In our village there are two bakeries and we have a post office too, where people from
our village can send letters. We have a fire station and our fire brigade has a new car. They
are very proud of it! Our village has got beautiful woods and the citizens willingly go for a walk
there.

Butter
Slice meat using the kitchen hammer to make the slices thiner. Apply mustard along
the slice add some salt and pepper for the good flavour. Put the chopped onion and becon
on the prepared meat. Roll the sliced meat with all of ingredients, close it using wooden
sticks. Put on the hot butter. Keep until the meat is brown. Add some water and wait until
meat is soft. Then, your ‘rolada’ is ready.

Cut 2 slices of bread into cubes. Put it into plate. Add some maggi, salt,
pepper, 1 table spoon butter and chopped garlic clove. Boil some water and
pour it into the plate. Mix and wait 3 minutes. The soup is ready.
Kluski
Smashed potatoes put into a big bowl. Then divide the mass into four parts
and put one part on the other parts so as to get a hollow. Put potato flour
into it add one egg.Then form a smooth mass from these ingredients. Get
some of it, form rolling pean on the table and cut it into pieces. Then form
round noodles in your hands. Cook noodles with four-five tablespoons of
oil and two tablespoons of salt. After noodles come to the surface of the water cook them for about two minutes.
Bigos
Into big pot throw some washed sauerkraut, and sliced spare ribs and a
chopped bacon and flavouringslike: pepper,slat, red pepper,allspicebay
leaf.. Add one glass of water. Put the cover on the pot and place it on the
oven. Cook till the cabbage is soft.

2. Kamień is a calm, quiet place, you can live here close to nature, listen
to the singing birds and you can also pick up mushrooms. In the surroundings
there are forests so you can walk or ride a bike .These are the best things

3. I would like to have better roads' surface, as well as more fun places for
teenagers and adults.

1. I have lived here for 13 years.
2. The best thing for our community is that there are not so many people here,
so we can know each other very well, especially people who live here since their
birth.
3. I would like to change the transport to the centre of Rybnik and other parts
of our region.

3. I think that we need more places where people can do some sport!

Some legends from Kamień
About small creatures called ”Utopki”.
A long time ago on the area we live, there were small creatures called “Utopek”. They were similar
to people but small and they lived near ponds and muds.
This it a story told by my grandmother.
One day my grandfather rode a cart and suddenly he saw a man. The man asked my grandfather to give him a lift. My grandfather agreed. When the man jumped on the cart, horses started
to be very nervous and the couldn't start the cart. My grandfather guessed
the man was not a human so he started to pray. When he blessed himself the strange man
disappeared.
It also happened, that people from the surroundings, when they were walking through woods
and met these small creatures and started talking to them couldn't find their way home.
It is all truth, but it was many years ago. Now we do not have “Utopki” in Kamień as it is said that
the pope excommunicated them.
About ghosts in a church.
A long time ago when our parish was in Książenice a ghost started to appear in a church. Nobody
knew why the ghost came. It happened that the organs started to play or the lights started to fade.
People were terrified. The priest didn't know what to do. One time the priest was sitting
and hearing the confessions. He thought that all people came out of the church and nobody else
was waiting. Suddenly someone started to whisper his sins, but the priest couldn't see anyone.
He realised that the ghost needed the confession, so he confessed him and from
that time no one heard about the ghost.
Głębokie doły.
In our woods there is a very strange place called Głębokie doły (deep holes). Today in this place
there are a lot of plants, trees and animals rare on other areas. That is a protected area
of the countryside. There are beautiful views there, but it is said that at night you can hear strange
voices there. As the legend says, many years ago there was an inn there, very big
and beautiful. Lots of people came there to have something to eat or rest. Unfortunately
the owner was very mean, he wanted to earn money all the time and he decided to organize
parties.
There was a Good Friday and a big party took place in that inn. People were drinking
and eating, the music played loudly when suddenly the whole inn collapsed and fell in under
the ground and there was a great silence. From that time there are many deep holes in that place.
