AvivaStim™
Targeted stimulation to rehabilitate atrophied muscles.
AvivaStim complements any physical rehabilitation program with advanced Neuromuscular
Electrical Stimulation (NMES) therapy. NMES uses electrical pulses to stimulate muscles
to contract, activating the target area to re-educate and overcome disuse atrophy of
muscles over time.
What is NMES and how does it work?
NMES stands for Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation and is proven by clinical research to be a
highly effective therapy for muscle rehabilitation. AvivaStim uses NMES to prevent or slow down
the atrophy or weakening of muscles often associated with reduced mobility. The device works
by triggering muscles to contract and relax.
Nine pre-sets target specific conditions.
This clinically validated device can be used by your patients to help achieve an independent
home rehabilitation program. The AvivaStim has nine pre-set programs to treat all levels
of muscle atrophy and target many specific conditions. Consider use of AvivaStim for
conditions such as:
+ Disuse atrophy
+ Muscle re-education
+ Muscle spasms
+ Lack of blood circulation
+ Range of motion
+ Chronic or post-surgical pain
Designed to accelerate muscle recovery.
+ Tracks accumulated usage data every time the device is turned
on to keep the patient and clinician informed of progress in the
treatment protocol.
+ Trigger button lets the clinician trigger a muscle contraction at any
point during movement, thereby aiding functional rehabilitation.
+ If at any point the stimulation circuit is interrupted – if an electrode
comes off the skin, for example – the unit pauses automatically to
alert the patient.

The relaxation of muscle spasms, prevention or retardation
of disuse atrophy, increasing local blood circulation, muscle
re-education, immediate post-surgical stimulation of calf
muscles to prevent venous thrombosis and maintaining
or increasing range of motion. Transcutaneous Electrical
Nerve Stimulation (TENS) for an adjunctive treatment in
the management of post-surgical and post-traumatic acute
pain problems.
