Second Collection - Holy Land Collection
This weekend the Archdiocese is sponsoring a second
collection for the Holy Land Collection. This collection
supports the care of Christianity’s holiest sites and for
God’s people living in the Holy Land.
As part of our parish stewardship, this is one of the ministries
we support with donations from our weekly offertory. For
the fiscal year ended June 30, 2014 we reserved $2,369 for
this ministry. We thank you for your support of our parish
and the ministries we contribute to on an on-going basis.
Archbishop’s Annual Appeal 2015
Thank you to all of our parishioners who have donated to
the 2015 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. After we reach our
Annual Appeal goal of $190,800, the
archdiocese returns 100% of any overage
back to our parish. Your gifts to the
Appeal not only fund the operations of
the Archdiocese, it also funds services that are of great help
to the ministries here in our parish. To participate, please

Eucharistic Adoration Schedule Changes
Empty Nesters Workshop
We will not have Eucharistic Adoration on the next two
Tuesdays March 31 and April 7 because of the Chrism
Mass and St. Jude school spring break. Adoration is
held every Tuesday from 8:00AM until 6:00PM during the

With Psalms: The School of Prayer, The Great
Adventure Bible Series by Jeff Cavins reveals Israel's

M-CATS Theater Outing

Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP)
We have limited spots available for our upcoming women’s

Are you wondering what to do now that your children
have left the nest? Do you seem to find an emptiness in
your home now that life has calmed down and you are
uncertain of the future? Empty nesters can be people who
are facing their children leaving home, whose children
have already left, and those who desire to discuss how to
fill the nest now that it has emptied.
Join us for 2 evenings of entertaining discussion about
these very real circumstances that many of us are
facing. Some of us are handling this time with a new
found freedom, but some are missing all of the confusion
and business of raising children.
The first evening will be on Tuesday, April 14, featuring
several speakers who will address their experiences with
empty nesting. The second evening will be on Tuesday,
April 21 and will focus more on the man's perspective of
this phenomenon. We are entitling this evening
"Wandering Aimlessly", which is sure to be very funny
with Gene Jordan, Fred Isaf, and other parishioners who
have navigated this territory for a while now!
Both evenings will begin at 6:45PM with a wine and
cheese reception in the Ministry Hall. We will have open
discussion until 9:00PM. A fee of $15/person is
requested and all are welcome to bring friends, neighbors
and family members. This should prove to be a fun and
enriching evening.
Called and Gifted Workshops
This is a special opportunity to discern what your gifts
and talents are, and to understand how to use them to
build up the Body of Christ in your home, work place,
church and community. In the first session you will learn
about the 24 Charisms that God has given which are listed
in the Scriptures. You will be given an inventory sheet to
understand what your unique gifts are, and then in the
second session we will discuss what your strongest gifts
are, and how you can use these talents.
Join us on either Thursdays, April 16 and 23 from
9:00AM - 11:30AM or Tuesdays, May 5 and 12 from
6:30PM - 9:00PM in Room 233. The fee for the classes
will be $15/person which will include the workbook and

Holy Thursday Food Collection
You are invited to bring gifts of nonperishable food to
Church on Holy Thursday. The gists will be placed in
baskets, brought up to the altar in the procession during
Mass, and offered to God. The food will be donated to the
Community Assistance Center, where it will be distributed to
local people living in hardship. Thank you for your
generosity to those less fortunate during the Lenten season.
Don’t forget to bring your chairs or blankets to sit on for
our outside Easter Sunday Mass! In the event of rain, we
will have Mass in the Church.
Sunday, April 12
The Feast of Divine Mercy,
celebrated on the Octave of Easter
(the Sunday after Easter Sunday), is a
relatively new addition to the Roman
Catholic liturgical calendar. Celebrating the
Divine Mercy of Jesus Christ, as revealed by Christ Himself
to St. Maria Faustina Kowalska, this feast was extended to
the entire Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II on April 30,
2000, the day that he canonized St. Faustina.
During the course of Jesus' revelations to Saint Faustina
on the Divine Mercy, Jesus asked on numerous occasions
that a feast day be dedicated to the Divine Mercy and that
this feast be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. The
liturgical texts of that day, the 2nd Sunday of Easter,
concern the institution of the Sacrament of Penance, the
Tribunal of the Divine Mercy, and are thus already suited
to the request of Our Lord. The Lord's will was made
known in His first revelation to the saint, as recorded in her
Diary. In all, there were 14 revelations concerning the
desired feast.
The Feast includes the solemn, public veneration of the
Image of Divine Mercy by the Church, as well as personal
acts of veneration and mercy. The great promise for the
individual soul is that a devotional act of sacramental
penance and Communion will obtain for that soul the
plenitude of the divine mercy on the Feast.
Fr. Jaime and Fr. João will hear confessions in English,
Spanish and Portuguese at 2:30PM followed by the
recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00PM.

Celebrating the Easter Triduum at St. Jude
The Easter Triduum begins with the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, reaches its high point in the
Easter Vigil, and closes with evening prayer on Easter Sunday.
Holy Thursday - 7:30PM - The Celebration of the Lord’s Supper
It is during this celebration that we re-enact the washing of the feet, a visible sign of
Christ’s call to us to “serve one another”. Twelve parishioners are chosen as representatives
to have their feet washed. Also interesting to note is that there is no actual close to the
“Mass”. Instead there is a solemn ending to this celebration as it closes with the Eucharistic
procession of consecrated hosts (which will be used on Good Friday) from the altar to the
tabernacle. After this procession, the sanctuary is completely stripped in preparation for
Good Friday. The Holy Eucharist is exposed for Adoration from the close of the
celebration until midnight, at which time it is moved to the Altar of Repose.
Good Friday
On Good Friday, we remember the day that Jesus died with various activities throughout the
day. Besides the activities, the church itself is also a reminder as the sanctuary is empty.
The altar is bare, the fonts are dry, the tabernacle is open, the statues are covered, and the
emptiness can be felt.
Tenebrae/Morning Prayer - 9:00AM
Tenebrae (Latin for "shadows") is a communal celebration held on the mornings of
Good Friday and Holy Saturday. This traditional prayer of the Church incorporates
hymns, Psalms, scripture readings, writings of the saints and intercessory prayers as a
means of prayerfully meditating on the solemn events recalled during the Holy Triduum.

This is a series of reflections & meditations on the last words spoken by Jesus from the Cross.
The Stations of the Cross - 2:30PM
The Stations of the Cross are timed to end at the hour of Jesus’ death.
The Celebration of the Lord’s Passion * - 7:30PM
This is a Liturgical celebration, but is not an actual Mass as there is no Consecration of the Eucharist. Good Friday is
the only day of the year that Mass is not celebrated. This celebration includes the Liturgy of the Word, Veneration of
the Cross, and Holy Communion from the Altar of Repose. ( * 3:30PM in Portuguese and 4:30PM in Spanish)

Tenebrae/Morning Prayer - 9:00AM
Blessing of Food - 10:00AM
You are invited to bring baskets of food to the Church to be blessed.
Easter Vigil - 8:00PM
There are four parts to the Easter Vigil as it includes the Light Service and the Liturgy of Baptism
along with the Liturgies of Word and Eucharist. This celebration begins outside with the Service
of Light. The church is in darkness and light is brought inside via the Paschal Candle. The
Exsultet is sung and the light of the Risen Christ is passed by the faithful from candle to candle to
fill the church with light.
After the Liturgy of the Word and before the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the Elect are brought into
the church through the Rite of Baptism. This Liturgy also includes a Profession of Faith for
those already baptized, and Confirmation for all of the candidates.
Please note, the faithful who receive communion may also receive at another Mass on Easter
Day.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2015
Children's Liturgy of the Word
St. Jude’s VBS, “Cathletics…Training to be Champions
for Christ!” is scheduled for the week of June 1-5.
Please join us for this fun, sports olympic themed
program, where kids will be inspired to set goals and aim
for a commitment to excellence in their Catholic faith.
The children will celebrate with faith-based lessons,
music, games, crafts, fun activities, and more!
Registration will be open to rising pre-K though rising
second grade. The fee for the week is $45 per child and
includes a VBS t-shirt, music CD, and pizza lunch on
Friday. Registration forms are available online at

church vestibule. The deadline for registration is April 30
and spots are limited.

Sundays - 10:00AM Mass
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (also
known as CLOW) is a special way for
children to experience the Word of God
in their own sacred space. During Lent
and Easter, children in grades K-3rd will be invited to join
the CLOW team for the Liturgy of the Word for
Children at the 10:00AM Mass. Dismissal will take place
just before the first reading. Children will be led to the
Stapleton Center to hear readings of the day from the
Children's Lectionary, followed by a reflection on them.
Children will rejoin their parents at the offertory. Please
encourage your child to participate.

Altar Server Guild 2015 Apprentice Class Forming
Our Altar Server Guild is now gearing up for our 2015apprentice class. The Altar Server Guild is a tremendous
opportunity for our children to learn a great deal more about holy Mass and equally as important, it’s a wonderful chance
to begin participating in a ministry that serves the people of our parish and Our Lord in a very special and exciting way.
Many of our current servers have found that this is a great way to begin thanking Our Lord for the blessings He provides
us with and as a way of gratefully giving a little something back.
Our program requirements are quite simple:
• Must have completed the 3rd Grade this Spring.
• Received the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation and Eucharist.
• Attend Holy Mass no less frequently than weekly
• Receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and he Eucharist regularly.
• Be able to recite the prayers of the Mass in a group (after training).
• Be reliable and punctual.
• Abide by the Guild’s Code of Conduct and Service Promise.
• Agree that being admitted to the Guild involves a commitment of both applicant and parental time and energy.
• Be a member of a registered and active parish family.
• Recipient of A/B/C grade in school behavior categories.
Our 2015 candidates will be required to:
• Attend a one hour Parent/Child Informational Meeting in the Ministry Hall either on Wednesday, April 29 at
7:00PM or Tuesday, May 12 at 7:00PM in the Stapleton Center.
• Attend a 90 minute “Show and Tell” training session in June. (Choice of dates will be available)
• Participate in an hour skills/knowledge demonstration in July. (Choice of dates will be available)

Annual Good Friday Pilgrimage
Knights of Columbus Scholarship
The Annual Good Friday Pilgrimage will start at the Shrine
of the Immaculate Conception at 9:00AM on Friday, April 3
with an opening prayer by Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory.
The theme this year is "I Am a Builder of the Kingdom”.
Participants will visit 14 urban sites in downtown Atlanta
and will hear scripture readings, reflections, prayer and
music. This pilgrimage is a multi-cultural and interfaith
event that calls to mind today’s social injustices and
challenges us to reflect on how they connect with Christ’s
sufferings in the Passion and his death. For more

The Knights of Columbus Council 6517 invite all
graduating seniors to participate in their Scholarship
Essay Contest. The Council will choose one male and one
female to be awarded a $500 scholarship to their
matriculating school. Students are to write a 400-500
word essay on the topic of “The importance of
maintaining your Catholic faith in a college setting.” All
submissions are to be received by April 18. Please include

Domingo de la Divina Misericordia
Domingo 12 de Abril
La Fiesta de la Divina Misericordia se
celebra en la Octava de Pascua (el
domingo después de la Pascua), es una
fiesta relativamente nueva en el
calendario litúrgico romano. La
celebración de la Divina Misericordia de
Jesús fue revelada a Santa María Faustina
Kowalska. Esta fiesta fue extendida a toda la Iglesia por
el Santo Padre Juan Pablo II el 30 de abril del 2,000, el
día en que Santa Faustina fue canonizada. Durante su vida
Jesús se reveló muchas veces a Santa Faustina y le pidió
en numerosas ocasiones que una fiesta dedicada a la Divina Misericordia fuera celebrada el domingo después de
la Pascua. Los textos litúrgicos de ese día, el segundo
domingo de Pascua, tienen que ver con la institución del
Sacramento de la Penitencia, el tribunal de la
misericordia, o sea que ya todo estaba predispuesto para
ese día según lo pedido por Nuestro Señor. La voluntad
del Señor fue dada a conocer en la primera revelación a la
santa, como dice en su diario. En total fueron 14
revelaciones conciernientes a esta fiesta.
La fiesta incluye la veneración pública de la Imagen de la
Divina Misericordia, así como actos personales de
misericordia. La gran promesa para las almas que
practiquen esta devoción es que el que reciba la
Confesión y la recepción de la Sagrada Comunión
obtendrá una indulgencia plenaria en la Fiesta de la Divina Misericordia. Rezaremos la coronilla de la Divina
Misericordia a las 3:00 PM ese día; Monseñor Joe,
Fr. João and Fr. Jaime escucharán confesiones en inglés,
portugués y español a las 2:30 PM. No te pierdas las
muchas bendiciones que nos brinda esta devoción a la
Divina Misericordia. ¡Acompáñanos ese día!

A Semana Santa começa no
Domingo de Ramos, porque
celebra a entrada de Jesus em
Jerusalém montado em um jumentinho – o símbolo da
humildade – e aclamado pelo povo simples, que O
aplaudia como “Aquele que vem em nome do Senhor”.
Os ramos significam a vitória: “Hosana ao Filho de Davi:
bendito seja o que vem em nome do Senhor, o Rei de
Israel; hosana nas alturas”. Os ramos santos nos fazem
lembrar que somos batizados, filhos de Deus, membros de Cristo, participantes da Igreja, defensores da fé
católica, especialmente nestes tempos difíceis em que esta
é desvalorizada e esquecida. Os ramos sagrados que
levamos para nossas casas, após a Missa, lembram-nos de
que estamos unidos a Cristo na mesma luta pela salvação
do mundo; uma luta árdua contra o pecado, um caminho
em direção ao Calvário, mas que chegará à Ressurreição.
A Festa da Divina
Misericórdia, celebrada na
oitava da Páscoa (o domingo
após domingo de Páscoa), é
uma adição relativamente
nova para o calendário l
itúrgico católico romano.
Celebrando a misericórdia
divina de Jesus Cristo, conforme revelado pelo próprio
Cristo para Santa Maria
Faustina Kowalska, esta festa foi estendida a toda a Igreja
Católica pelo Santo Papa João Paulo II em 30 de abril de
2000, dia em que ele canonizou St Faustina. Os textos
litúrgicos desse dia,dizem respeito a instituição do
Sacramento da Penitência, o Tribunal da Divina
Misericórdia e portanto, vem de encontro ao pedido de
Nosso Senhor. O desejo desta festa foi revelado por Jesus
desde a primeira revelação a S. Faustina. Temos um total
de 14 revelações falando sobre a festa e sua importância.
A Festa inclui a veneração pública e solene a imagem da
divina misericórdia pela Igreja, bem como atos pessoais
de veneração e piedade. A grande promessa para a alma
individual é que um ato devocional de penitência
sacramental e comunhão obterá para aquela alma a
plenitude da misericórdia divina na festa.
Em nossa comunidade iniciaremos com a oração do terço
da divina misericordia às 3P.M.. Mons Joe, Pe Jaime e Pe
João, estarão disponíveis para confissão a partir das
2:30PM até o início de nossa celebração às 3:00PM
Teremos também a benção das imagens e leituras do
diário de S. Faustina. São muitas as bençãos que esta devoção oferece, portanto, venha e junte-se a nós!
