PBPS Seamanship course offered on 3 Sept. Saturdays
The Perdido Bay Power Squadron, A unit of the United States
Power Squadrons, is offering the Seamanship course on three consecutive Saturdays, September 10th, 17th, and 24th at the lillian Recreation Center, 33914 Widell Ave., lillian, Al. (enter the
classroom under the stairs). The class is available to members
and non-members who have successfully completed America’s
Boating Course. The class will convene at 0900 (9AM) and is expected to end at 1400 (2PM). Course materials include the Student Manual and One Minute Guide to Nautical Rules of the
Road. To have the student materials available, registration is required by September 2nd . The cost of this class is $55 for power
squadron members and $110 for non-members.

Tacky Jacks Gulf Shores hosts Sept. 3 Bloody Mary 5K
Tacky Jacks Gulf Shores will host its Third Bloody Mary 5K
Run/Walk on Saturday, September 3 at 7:30 a.m. Race day registration is available for the jaunt out and back through neighborhood streets. Almost 400 runners participated last year. All the
usual awards will be presented along with Team Spirit Awards to
kick off the football season. Wear your favorite team colors and be
eligible for individual prizes. Pre-race registration is available at

DOLPHIN DADS: The genesis of Dolphin Dads occurred recently at Gulf Shores
Elementary School. In conjunction with the Gulf Shores Parent Partnership, fathers
of GSES students joined together to help the school, the teachers and the children.
This volunteer father group did needed lawn care, repaired picnic tables, assembled
a storage unit for Pre-K and created safety alerts. They are looking forward to other

Miss Flora-Bama 2016 will be crowned Sept. 3
The historic Flora-Bama will be crowning Miss Flora-Bama 2016 on Saturday, September 3 at 3 p.m. in the tent
stage at the beachfront lounge on the Florida-Alabama state line. Contestants are finalists from four previous competitions beginning with Ms. Mullet Toss in April. Miss Flora-Bama 2016 will receive $5000 cash and on behalf
of Havana Sun, will go to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic to represent the Flora-Bama in the 2016 Swimsuit
USA International Model Search in November. This competition is an upscale, professional event where each contestant will compete to represent an establishment or company at the International Finals and share $80,000 in
cash, prizes, modeling opportunities and a chance to network to further their careers. Along with the Miss FloraBama Finale, fall football kicks off at all three establishments. As the SEC Headquarters, Flora-Bama will have
football on multiple TV’s and it will continue across the street at Flora-Bama Yacht Club and Flora-Bama Ole
River Bar and Grill. Ole River will be pouring draft beer from their 16 craft draft taps, serving from their 10

first responders by offering
all first responders a free
fish-fry dinner on Sept. 11

its 15th Anniversary Remembrance Day.

The Remembrance commemorates the September
11, 2001 terrorist attack,
which killed 2,977 victims,
and took down the World
Trade Center in New York.
There is now a memorial located at the World Trade
Center site, the former location of the Twin Towers,
which were destroyed during
the September 11 attacks.
Collegiate Wakeboard Nationals Sept. 15-17 on Ole River
College wakeboard athletes from across the country will compete
at the USA Collegiate National Wakeboard Championships on
Ole River in front of the Ole River Oyster Bar (at the Al/Fl state
line across from the Flora-Bama) Sept. 15-17.
Competing schools include the likes of Arizona State, lSU,
Michigan State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Utah and
last year’s defending champs, the Florida Gators.
Teams competed at five regionals around the country over the
last two semesters to get a chance to go to nationals and compete
for the title. Each team will consist of their top four men’s riders,
top two women’s riders, and top wakeskater.
There are quarterfinal, semifinal, and finals heats of four. All divisions are weighted the same, but the top four college riders will
earn a golden ticket of sorts to ride in the pro division with a cash
prize. There are no NCAA regulations to follow.
Spectators are invited and people can watch the action from the
beach or the expansive deck at the Ole River Oyster Bar. For more

Pictured: Emily Brooks of Silverhill will be exhibiting her stunning collection of jewelry created from gemstones she has gathered from all over the United States. She started her creations
about six years ago while traveling across the country. Each trek
of her journey yielded a pocketful of shiny rocks. “After traveling
with a group of visionary artists, I felt compelled to start wrapping a collection. All my rocks are personally found, selected, and
wrapped by myself,’’ she said. “I know each piece’s origin and try
to label them accordingly.” Brooks uses copper wire made from
recycled 100% pure copper ore found near Creede, Colorado. She
then uses a hand crank press to make the ore into a pressed wire.
Once wrapped, each stone tells a story of that area and takes on
a little life of its own.
“I feel that the action of hand making something just makes the
piece that much more personal and adds that extra alchemical
touch as well,” she said.

30th Annual Mullet Festival Sept. 5 in Lillian

The 30th Annual Mullet Festival hosted by the Optimist Club of
Perdido Bay will be held on labor Day at the lillian Community
Club, lillian. Funds from this major club event are used for a variety
of programs and projects for children of the area.
The event begins with presentation of the colors at 7:15 a.m. by the
American legion. Registration for the 5K Run/Walk begins at 6 a.m.
with the run at 7:30. Participants receive the famous Mullet T-shirt
and are eligible for awards in 78 separate age groups. Sign up prior
to the event on the website, www.ocpb.org. The Runners Party is held
from 8 to 10:30 a.m. and includes the Awards Ceremony, beverages
and snacks.
A one-mile Fun Run/Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. The first 40 finishers
receive a Participant Award.
The famous Optimist Breakfast will be held from 7 to 9 a.m., featuring pancakes, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, grits and eggs.
The charge is $5 per person; kids 2 through 8 eat free.
Plan on attending the Mullet/Catfish Dinner served from 11 a.m. to
1:30 p.m. Also included in the $8 fee are hushpuppies, baked beans,
grits, coleslaw, dessert and iced tea. Once again, kids 2 to 8 eat free.
If breakfast and dinner aren't enough, you can always take home
some home-baked items, courtesy of the best cooks in the area, the
women of OCPB and their friends.
Join the fun and games outside where kids can frolic in the inflatables from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The famous Mullet Toss will be held during the same time period. Will last year's winners return to take home
another trophy or will first-timers take the prizes?
Inside from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Silent Auction will be in full swing,
along with the Deja Vu Market. New and almost new items, as well
as gift certificates from area businesses will be on the auction block.
Gently used and unique treasures are featured in the Deja Vu Market. Outside the vendors will be selling their wares, including arts,
crafts, and knife sharpening. To participate as a vendor, contact Ken

The drawing for the Raffle will be held at 3 p.m. Prizes are $1,000,
$400, $200, and $100. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Purchase them
before the event from your favorite Optimist member. They will also
be on sale at the Mullet Festival.
Music from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be provided by Big Jake & the TagA-longs, a favorite in the area, especially for their line dance music
and of course, the famous chicken dance.
In addition to providing projects and programs for kids, the Optimist
Club of Perdido Bay hosts programs honoring Elberta school teachers and Baldwin County law enforcement officers. last year $25,000
was donated to local organizations and approximately 10,000 hours
were expended by club members to help children.
In addition to fun activities for the boys and girls, the club awarded
six $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors and four scholarships
to the National Flight Academy in Pensacola.

Art into Words, a cultural
evening celebrating different
mediums and interpretations of art, will be held on
Sept. 22 at the Erie Meyer
Civic Center in Gulf Shores.
The dinner theatre is the
result of a unique collaboration between the City of Gulf
Shores, Gulf Coast Arts Alliance and the South Baldwin Community Theatre.
The event will pair eight
artists with eight playwrights who will write a
short play based on that particular piece of art. The
plays will be the centerpiece
of an evening which will include a four course meal prepared by Four Brothers
Catering, drinks, as well as
live and silent auctions. lisa

evening.

The third annual Gulf Coast Songwriter Shootout will return
to The Hot Spot Music & Grub at The Wharf every Monday
from Sept. 12 through Oct. 24 for its six-week musical talent
contest.
Created by Sandy Roots Productions, The Shootout will feature 50 singer-songwriters weened from 120 submissions from
across the region as they compete for the ultimate prize valued
at $10,000 including cash prizes, a new guitar and a fully produced demo CD. The event is free to attend, and all are welcome
at the family-friendly venue.
“In its third year, we are thrilled to bring the Shootout back to
The Wharf and value our continued relationship with The Hot
Spot Owner Bobby Graves,” said Nick Biebricher, owner of
Sandy Roots Productions and the Shootout’s
co-producer with Melissa Joiner.
“We strive to make each year better than the
last, and we look forward to the new caliber of
talent and entertainment the contest will
showcase.’’
Each week, 10 artists will perform original
songs for a live audience and three of those
entrants will be chosen to move on to the
final round taking place Oct. 24. All 15 winners will return to perform for celebrity
judges and compete for the overall prize in
the ultimate showdown.
Anthony Crawford, Travis Meadows and lynn langham will
serve as this year’s finale judges. Each comes with a laundry
list of achievements, impressive artist rosters and notable experience.
The judges will also perform a special Celebrity Songwriter
Round on Oct. 23 – the day before the finale. Tickets are on sale
for $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Bulls on the Beach at Flora-Bama Sept. 9-10
The bulls are back. Head to the Flora-Bama on Perdido Key
Sept. 9-10 for Bulls on the Beach, two nights of adrenaline-filled
bull riding. The high-energy, rock-and-roll rodeo will feature professional bull riders from across the Southeast. This is a family
friendly event, and snow cones and other snacks will be available.
There will also be a mechanical bull on site for $5 a ride. Gates
open at 6 p.m., and the rodeo starts at 8 p.m. each night. Cost is
$25 per night for adults over 18 and $15 for children seven to 17.
Two night ticket combos ($40 and $20) are also available. Tickets

Pirates of Lost Treasure
Golf Tourney is Sept. 17
The Perdido Key based Pirates of lost Treasure will host a golf tourney in support of its Secret Santa Fund on Sept. 17 at Perdido Bay
Country Club. Check-in begins at 10 a.m., with
lunch to follow before the noon shotgun start.
Entry fee is $65 per player, and registration is
open at the course. Prizes will be awarded for
closest to the pin, hole-in-one and straightest

The Pirates of lost Treasure, Inc. was established in 1992 in Perdido Key when a small
group of swashbucklers from the Key hung a
sign on the Reef's door inviting all who were adventurous and lighthearted to apply for Piratehood. The result was a club of hearty, generous
pirates that not only wanted to parade and
party, but to help neighbors at the same time.
The Pirates are dedicated to fun, parading on
its grand float, the Bloody Bucket, and community involvement. The krewe participates in
many activities throughout the year, ranging
from Relay for life and beach cleanup cam-
paigns, to greeting snowbirds and supporting
the Frank Brown Songwriters Festival. Its primary mission however, is supporting Secret
Santa. Each Christmas, Secret Santa provides
food, clothing and toys to needy local families.
The Pirates have helped many panhandle residents who were down on their luck and still
find time to put the wind back into there sails
and have a good time.
Its 125 select members and associates are always finding creative ways to raise money
through events such as poker runs, kayak races,
this golf tournament and food booth during the
annual Flora-Bama Mullet Toss. Krewe members meet monthly at the Perdido Sports Bar.

Sand Sea & Spirit Retreat
Sept. 10-20 in Orange Beach
The Sand Sea and Spirit Retreat will celebrate
its 26th year of sharing ways of keeping self
and community healthy and balanced from
Sept. 10-20 from its headquarters at Phoenix VI

around Orange Beach.
A long list of presenters will share wisdom and
experience about topics ranging from wholesome nutrition, healing modalities, T’ai Chi,
meditation, yoga, reiki and massage to diet and
diverse modalities.
The premise behind the retreat is to help attendees find a balance of body, mind and spirit
through a holistic approach to life.
The retreat will include opportunities for creative expression through watercolor, crafting
jewelry and making masks. Daily entertainment includes some of the finest singers and
songwriters in the country.

also share their gifts and talents.
Even though this is a ten-day event, participants can customize their experience from one
class, one day, to the entire event.

path/purpose revitalized and refreshed,’’ said

Auditions for Coastal Ballet’s Nutcracker slated Sept. 10
Coastal Ballet Academy in Foley is hosting auditions the 2016
production of Nutcracker. This annual performance is open to
dancers from all area schools. Choreographed by Rio Barlow,
Artistic Director of Coastal Ballet and former Ballet Mistress for
Ballet Pensacola and the Alabama School of Fine Arts, Nutcracker will also need actors and musician for non-dancing roles.

The South Baldwin Community Theatre production of “Passengers”
opens September 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gulf Shores theatre.

Written by Sam Bodrick, Passengers incldues eight sketches that weave
together a subtle but profound theme. Deep revelations and gutsy insights
are gleaned from the play dialogue and true to life scenarios. “Passengers.” is a fresh, idiosyncratic, irreverent comedy. The scenes, which segue
fluidly from one to another without stopping, vary from comedic to
poignant and are tied together in the last scene.
In Scene 1, Jane and Walter, a disillusioned man and woman, meet in the
station. As they converse, they are convinced they are dead. In Scene 2,
Frank, one of life's eternal losers, encouraged by his wife Clara, plans to
turn his life around by successfully robbing the bus. Fred, a successful
businessman, meets Maureen, an old high school classmate of his, who is
now a bag lady. They have a rousing time together recalling the good old
days in Scene 4.

Friends of Richard Miller will hold a memorial benefit to help
with final expenses for the family of Richard on Sept. 10 at The

passed away on July 28. Richard is survived

Richard A. lowell, Cynthia E. lowell, step brother Josh l. Salter,
two sisters Shaleea Sirmon and Jamie McKeel, numerous uncles,
aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Richard graduated from Foley High School and was employed by
lambert’s Café in Foley where he had many friends and coworkers. Arrangements were by Cason Funeral Service in Foley.
Locals can participate in Oct. 22 underwater conservation effort
On Saturday, October 22, local divers will join scuba divers
from across the country as participants in Operation - “Dive
Against Debris.” This underwater conservation effort is the result of a unique collaboration between the
City of Gulf Shores and Project AWARE.
During this cleanup effort volunteer
divers will canvas the near shore waters
of the Gulf in an effort to remove garbage
and unnatural debris which can pose a
significant threat to people and wildlife.
The cleanup site spans approximately
2.5 miles and runs from the 1200 block of
West Beach to the 500 block of East Beach
(Fire Department to Gulf State Park). Headquarter operations
will be located at Gulf Place Public Beach. All volunteers will
report to headquarters for check-in and assignments at 7 a.m.
Divers may pre-register for the event. Minors under the age of
18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is open
water scuba certified. There is no cost associated with participating. A liability waiver must be completed by all volunteers.
Project AWARE is a growing movement of scuba divers protecting the ocean – one dive at a time. Focusing on marine debris, scuba divers can directly and positively affect real,
long-term change in our community. For more information

A decade-long tradition continues in Gulf Shores on Saturday,
Sept. 10 during the Brett/Robinson Alabama Coastal Triathlon.

1st Annual Massacre Island
Sept. 17-18 on Dauphin Isle
Fundraiser takes Bushwacker shower at Tacky Jacks for ALS
“I’m not going to lie. After that horrible gumbo in New Orleans,
I’m glad that I’m having a bushwacker.’’ That was the immediate
response from larry Kaplan after he and his wife Jill were
doused with several pitchers of the local chocolate flavored liquor
delight on Aug. 26 at Tacky Jacks in a spin-off of the AlS Ice
Bucket Challenge that swept the country in 2014.
Kaplan was in Gulf Shores on day 26 and state 43 of larry’s
50In30 Challenge to raise funds for AlS. During each of his stops,
larry is drenched with liquids local to each state. In previous
stops on his journey, which started in Delaware, sponsors
splashed Kaplan with maple syrup, salmon heads, Wisconsin
cheese, watermelon, cherries, sunflower seeds, pizza ingrediants,
chocolate, chile and a mix of algae & powered sugar. He was
scheduled to get drenched with orange juice in Florida after leaving Tacky Jacks.
Kaplan took a month vacation to undertake his fundraiser. “I
get to go back to my normal life after this,’’ he said. “If you have
AlS, you and your family don't go back to your normal life."
Kaplan will end up driving more than 20,000 miles and flying to
Alaska and Hawaii during his one month fundraiser. A 20 year
volunteer with the Greater Philadelphia AlS Association, Kaplan
said he hopes to raise awareness of AlS as well as funds to fight
the disease. Alabama AlS Executive Director lisa Holmon, local
resident Cheryl lanning and Tiffany Feld and Bryan Hart from
Tacky Jacks had the pleasure of drenching the Kaplans with

Loaded Red Potato Casserole
16 small red potatoes
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. salt
1-1/2 cups (6 oz.) shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1/2 cup crumbled cooked bacon
1 cup (8 oz.) sour cream
2 Tbsp. minced chives
Place potatoes in a Dutch oven and cover with water. Bring to a
boil. Reduce heat; cover and cook for 15-20 minutes or until tender. Drain. Mash potatoes with the milk, butter, pepper and salt.
Transfer to a greased 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with 1
cup cheese and bacon. Dollop with sour cream; sprinkle with
chives and remaining cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for
20-25 min. or until cheese is melted.

crafts, if not the oldest. Primitive humans used limbs, leaves, and vines
woven together to carry the necessities of life—nuts, fruits, and game.
From these crude beginnings, different cultures have developed literally
hundreds of styles of baskets. In many
cases, the style of basket depends on
the availability of resources and
plants suitable for basket construction.
In early times, baskets were a necessity. This was long before the days of
metal containers. Because baskets are
a part of our heritage, most of us have
a fascination for them.

All About Dogs Rescue Golf Scramble Sept. 23
All About Dogs Coastal Rescue will host its 5th Annual Going to the
Dogs Golf Scramble to raise funds to support its rescue and adoption efforts on Sept. 23 at Craft Farms Golf Resort. Registration begins at
10:30 a.m., with the shotgun start set for noon.
Golfers can sign up individually ($100) or as a team ($400) in men’s
and women’s flights. The fee includes green fees, cart fees, range balls,
lunch and prizes.

All About Dogs Coastal Rescue is an all volunteer group of dedicated
animal lovers committed to rescue, rehabilitate and find homes for
abused and abandoned dogs in South Baldwin County. Its efforts in
taking dogs into the program help reduce the number of healthy dogs
euthanized at local shelters. All dogs placed in the non-profit’s care are
given appropriate and needed medical treatment, temperament evaluation and socialization in preparation for adoption. All dogs are fully
vaccinated, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated prior to
adoption. Potential adopters are interviewed for a proper match before
approval for adoption. It operates solely on donations and fund raising
events, and every dollar donated goes directly to provide medical and
daily care for our rescue pets.
Top trop rockers booked for Oct. 1 Oasis Fest
Trop Rock, a lazy river and a desire to be part of something new are
three of the attractions that should draw a crowd to the inaugural

Gulf Coast Athletic Club grows members, increases donations, and establishes a foundation

The Gulf Coast Athletic Club is experiencing a
resurgence in membership and has recently
taken several steps to increase its fundraising efforts.
With 103 members representing 26 college
teams, GCAC experienced record membership
levels in 2015, and is on track to exceed that
number this year. Membership increased from 80
members in 2013.
“Our fun atmosphere and exciting speaker lineup is attracting more interest,” said David DeMeyer, membership chair. Club dues are $200 for
eight meetings, which includes cocktail hour, dinner, team reports, updates from Gulf Shores
High School and a guest speaker.
The 14th Annual GCAC Golf Tournament held
in June was a major success thanks to strong
sponsor support and tremendous participation.
“We had a great turnout and raised over
$20,000 which will go toward supporting the
high school athletic department and funding
scholarships,” said Fred Dickerson, co-chair of
the tournament.
“We appreciate those who participated and especially our sponsors who made the tournament
such a success,” said tourney co-chair John McCormick.
In May, the club awarded $7,000 in scholarships
to male and female Scholar Athletes of the Year
from Gulf Shores High School. The recipients
were Taylor Brown and Ishan Patel. The two students were chosen from a field of eight, who
along with their parents, were honored at last
year’s GCAC meetings.
The Club also launched the Gulf Coast Athletic
Club Foundation, a charitable organization. All
donations to the Foundation are tax deductible.
“We have seen an uptick in donations this year
which will allow us to maximize our impact
through continued support of local youth athletics and proving scholarships to student athletes,’’
said Foundation President David lee. “The tax
deductibility of donations makes the Foundation
a great option for anyone wanting to support our
student athletes.’’

ARCHANGEL RADIO UPGRADES:After a successful
Spring Pledge Drive and donations from friends of the station,
Archangel Radio, WNGl, 1410 AM, was able to purchase come
much-needed equipment. In addition, the staff is looking forward to expanding the signal to provide better reception for
Foley, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and lillian. The Catholic
radio station was launched in 2010 and broadcasts daily,
spreading the word of God and sharing the faith, not just on
the radio, but on the internet and smart phones. The $16,000
renovation included computers needed for production and animation, a mixing board with processors for sound quality, updated software programs, lighting and worktable. They have
also rearranged the equipment and microphones to make it
easier for guests to interact with Station Manager Ellen Taylor,
Production Coordinator Mike Romano and other show hosts.

Guide4Fun celebrates 5th year anniversary on Perdido Key
local company publishing its 2nd annual Orange Beach cartoon map
It hardly seems possible that four years have gone by since
Guide4Fun published its first cartoon map. But here they are
rolling into 2017 and the fifth annual publication. It took several years to get the project off the ground as Hurricanes
Ivan,Katrina and the BP oil spill interrupted the normal
course of business for everyone along our Gulf Coast and they
were no exception. However, once they got a toe hold they have
flourished.
Guide4Fun is a colorful, entertaining guide and a keepsake
publication. They print over 100,000 copies annually between
Orange Beach and Perdido Key. Furthermore they have a
tremendous state of the art, mobile friendly, interactive web
presence, Guide4Fun.com.
Because they are available on the web folks use Guide4Fun
to plan their trips before they get here and because they are
available in print locally, at hundreds distribution points
throughout the these beach communities, visitors use them
while they are here. Publix Super Markets is one of their major
sponsors and they are one of the few local publications that
are distributed from their local stores.
Other distribution points include condominiums, hotels, property management companies, restaurants, stores, gift shops,
Visitors Centers, Chambers of Commerce and other attractions
and locations. Most advertising vehicles here on the beach are
solo type, such as rack cards or magazines. It is easy to see how
your ad can get lost in the wall of rack cards or as a side bar
ad of an article.
The Guide4Fun map offers a unique perspective in that you
can see the whole area and all of the advertisers at a glance as
you look at the map. And at the same time it leads them right
to your front door. They also offer enhanced ads that will punch
up your presence on the map and panel size ads to help boost
your appearance even more.
They have designed the map to be informative as well as colorful and fun. If you look close you will find local icon's and
funny figures at different locations, personalizing the maps.
The Maps feature many of our local characters that have gone
home as well as several that are alive and well and deserve to
be honored for their contributions to our beautiful communities.

The Simon Says Run for
Prostate Cancer 5.8K will be
held on Sept. 10 at 7:30 a.m.,
with the start and finish at
the Flora~Bama Ole River
Bar, located at 17400 Perdido Key Dr. on the Fl-Al
state line.
Registration is now open at
active.com. Cost is $25 per
person for runners and
walkers. Day of race registration is $30. Packet pickup and late registration will
be available at the
Flora~Bama Ole River Bar
on Friday, September 9 from
5-8 p.m. and on race day.
Entry fees include a race
shirt and entry to the postrace party at the
Flora~Bama Ole River Bar,
which will include burgers
and beer, music and awards
presentations. One hundred
percent of the event proceeds will be donated to the
Prostate Cancer Foundation.
This event is to raise
awareness of prostate cancer, to protect the men from
prostate cancer, and raise
funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF).
“I am excited to say we
were able to donate $7,000
last year to the PFC,’’ said
race coordinator Jennifer
Newman. “Our goal is to donate 100 percent of participant entry fees to the PCF.’’
The PCF is firmly committed to curing prostate cancer
and has helped build a
global research enterprise of
nearly $10 billion, funding
more than 2,000 programs
at more than 200 research
centers in 18 countries since
inception in 1993.
Event sponsors are needed
to cover the expenses such
as participant and volunteer

The trend-setting work of McCollough
Institute founder and world renowned, Facial Surgeon, Dr. E. Gaylon McCollough is
featured in an academic critique of Aesthetic Rejuvenation of the Face and Neck.
The recently released plastic surgery textbook is published by Thieme, Inc., one of
the world’s largest publishers
of medical educational resources.
The book’s reviewer specifically referenced Dr. McCollough’s “Condition Specific
Rhytidectomy (Facelifting):
An Evidence-Based Paradigm
Shift in Facial Rejuvenation”
as a way for Facial Surgeons
to “arm (themselves) with the
knowledge and skills needed
to perform operations competently”.
Although previously introduced in a
peer-reviewed journal, the inclusion of McCollough’s facial rejuvenation system in a
respected plastic surgery textbook, establishes it as “standard of care”, i.e., a “new
normal” within his profession.
About this recognition, McCollough said,
“Sharing knowledge with fellow physicians is a responsibility to which I swore
when I took the Hippocratic Oath. Early
in my career, I realized that a ‘one-sizefits-all’ approach to anything means that
