PINNACLE LAKE
Pinnacle Lake Estates is a private, gated, recreational
development that has grown around a 130 acre reservoir called
Pinnacle Lake. The lake got its name from the large rock
formation that juts up over 100 feet from the bottom of the
lake. Pinnacle Lake Rock Shelter Site is officially listed on the
National Register of Historic Places. You can see a photo of it
to the right.
Traveling the rock roads around the lake you will find lovely homes for year-round living, weekend and
vacation homes, and heavily wooded lots.
Amenities and Services
Pinnacle Lake Estates offers the lot owners many amenities that are paid for with funds raised through annual
association dues. Yearly dues are $293.00. Some of the things you will find at Pinnacle Lake are:
Pinnacle Lake is a beautiful lake that is fed by natural springs, as well as several streams and wet weather
creeks. These streams help to keep the water very clear. The picnic area boasts a swimming beach, swimming
dock, picnic tables, BBQ pits, picnic pavilion, playground, water, and bath house with hot water, showers, and
restrooms. There is also a parking area for vehicles. The pavilion is available for private parties and reunions on
a first-come, first-served basis. Pinnacle Lake facilities are open only to property owners.
Boat slips are leased to lot owners for an annual fee to lot owners. A private road system throughout the
development with the roads being maintained and developed by the Association. There are gated entrances to
the development which are controlled 24/7, year round by electronic systems. During the summer months, both
gates are also overseen by security personnel.
Pinnacle Lake Estates is in the jurisdiction of the Montgomery and Warren County Sheriff’s Departments.
Activities and Recreation
Fishing: Anglers of all ages can catch largemouth bass, white crappie, channel catfish, bluegill, green sunfish
and hybrid sunfish.
Swimming: There is a roped swimming area with a man-made sand beach and swimming dock. The water in
the swimming area ranges to a depth of about 10 feet.
Boating: You will see many types of boats on the lake: power boats (maximum 60hp), personal watercraft
(maximum 55hp), canoes, kayaks, sailboats, pontoons, paddleboats, and even a water bicycle. You might even
see a few water-skiers and tubers being towed around the Pinnacle.
Nature Walks: The roads around Pinnacle Lake Estates offer many opportunities for walking and hiking
throughout the area to see plants and wildlife. The campground below the dam is bounded by a stream where
nature lovers can see a Missouri stream environment, plants, and wildlife.
Speaking of wildlife, don’t be surprised if you see, or hear, some deer, fox, bobcat, opossum, raccoon, squirrels,
or a groundhog during your rambles. Many of our lot owners have reported seeing two eagles flying over the
lake. In the evening, it’s also likely, depending upon the season, that you’ll see a turkey or two, Canadian geese,
wild ducks, kingfishers, herons, hawks, pileated woodpeckers, downy woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and other
feathered species. In the summer, a flock of cliff swallows regularly return to the lake to build their mud nests
on the walls of selected rocky cliffs. As for the plant life, the woods at Pinnacle Lake abound with white oak,
red oak, black walnut, hickory, and cedar trees. In the spring, dogwood, redbud, and wild cherry are sprinkled
throughout the woods. There are also a few Catalpa trees and Paw Paw trees. Low lying bushes and saplings
abound. Wildflowers, ferns, and woodland foliage are all over the place.
