ADA HUJA HISTORY
Ada Huja, once an intact landscape covered
with lush vegetation, featuring vineyards and
decreed an IBA area (important bird area),
was turned into a waste dump during the
1960s that triggered the destruction of this
delicately balanced ecosystem located just
4km away from the Belgrade city center.
In consequence of intensive garbage dumping
that took place over a course of several
decades, Ada Huja, once an island in the
Danube, is actually reconnected to the river
bank forming a river peninsula. In this way, a
free flow of fresh water from the Danube is
blocked from entering the river branch. For
many decades, communal and industrial
waste waters were being dumped on the
other side of the river branch, turning it into
an ecological and health hazard for the population in the surrounding area. Additionally,
the tip of the newly formed peninsula served
as an illegal depot for industrial rubble, thus,
completely devastating the once rich vegetation of Ada Huja.

SUPERNATURAL PARK
In October 2011, Supernatural movement signed a contract with the municipality of Palilula to clear the illegal depot from
the tip of Ada Huja and to establish an educational, cultural and environmental protection centre there, called Supernatural
Park.
During the year 2012, this space, once inaccessible to public, is turned into an environmental park featuring; THE GREEN
CLASROOM - designed for the purpose of educating the young people on the subject of environmental protection;
GREENHOUSE - for the experimental cultivation and exhibition of plants and promotion of horticulture, 350 m of natural
gravel has been laid and walking lanes formed. For the purposes of revitalizing Supernatural Park 2 GARDENS of 1000m2
each have been completed, covered with 500 m of high quality humus layer with support from the public utility company
JP Srbija Suma, Apatinska brewery, The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia and embassies of
respective countries: USA, Canada, Germany, France, Austria, Finland, Great Britain, Bulgaria and Belgium. With the assistance from the Serbian Ministry of Youth and Sports 100 seedlings of ash trees, one common oak and one sallow tree have
been planted.

PRESENTATION OF THE
ADA HUJA PROJECT
ON 25TH SEP 2012
On 25th September a public presentation of the Ada Huja revitalization
project was held at KC (Culture Center) Palilula. The project presentation was
opened by Goran Trivan, the general secretary of Environmental Protection
Department in the city of Belgrade, Stojan Nikolic, president of the Palilula
municipality, Dragana Milovanovic, chief of the department for international
cooperation of the Republican ministry for the protection of waters, Branislav
Bozovic, geology engineer and the former secretary of the Environment
Protection Department Aleksandar Lozajic from ecoremediation company
Dekonta and Srdjan Stankovic, the founder director of the Supernatural
Movement.
Supernatural Park project was presented on this occasion with the steps
necessary for the revitalization of the Ada Huja ecosystem. A group of
experts was gathered to form a think tank in order to work together on the
revitalization of the Ada Huja ecosystem. These experts are proven professionals from different fields who are currently working together on the design
of technical documentation necessary for the solution of the pollution problem in the river branch.
STARS OF BELGRADE
SUPERNATURAL MOVEMENT
HAS WON THE ACCOLADE
STARS OF BELGRADE!
The project “Stars of Belgrade” has an aim to promote partnership of the city
of Belgrade with different associations in order to make the work of the civil
sector closer to public view. The chosen associations are handed a symbolic
recognition whereby the resolve of the city of Belgrade is affirmed by providing support to the civil sector in the sense of expanding the dialogue and
strengthening the partnership with associations that work on the projects
deemed important for the city of Belgrade. The recognitions are awarded
individually per each organizational unit i.e. after the public tender by the
managers of organizational units, at the ceremony traditionally held at Beli
Dvor
TELENOR GARDEN
13TH April
“INFOSTAN”
RECYCLING YARD
18TH April
Telenor garden was created on a space of 500 m2
with more than 700 plants and benches for visitors.
At the space of 400m2 in Supernatural Park a
green area was formed with perennial seedlings of
trees and especially designed containers intended
for recycling of paper, metals, glass and plastics.
Installation of Infostan Recycling Yard has offset a
practice of collecting all the waste generated in and
around the Supernatural Park area.
This was realized in cooperation with
• Telenor Company
• Supernatural Movement
• The Municipality of Palilula
• Secretariat for Environmental Protection
of the city of Belgrade.
