ast week's lesson was "our past does not define
us." This week, God repeats it! It's a VERY difficult lesson to learn! "Remember not the events
of the past, the things of long ago consider not; see I
am doing something new." Ann Landers used to write:
"There is no saint without a past, and no sinner without a future!" The past is past; we can't change it--no
matter how much we'd like to. But we can grow beyond it, and thus own it in a different way. Such is the
point of today's readings--especially the nameless
woman caught in adultery. Christ gives her future to
her--a possibility to grow beyond what she has been.
God gives that future to all humanity--GOOD
NEWS for all of us! Think about employing the
Grace of the Sacrament of Penance to help you grow
beyond your past to a better future. Our penance service is Monday night.
- Fr. Bill Axe

ningún pecador sin un futuro!” El pasado es pasado;
20 pintas y salvarán a 60 vidas!

meditation and an ever

is, unquestionably, the treasure of our soul.”

God takes your body from it.”

To build and foster a Christian Community that offers
the opportunity to experience God’s unconditional love
and acceptance to all who come into contact with it.
T
oday's Gospel is quite compelling. Jesus did
something new. He put the woman caught in
the act of adultery, in a context we all share:
we all sin and need God's freely offered mercy. If
we turn to Jesus, admit our need for forgiveness,
and take on the suffering that changing our hearts
and our ways can entail, we can experience the
promised resurrection that Paul proclaims in today's
second readying.
Admitting our sin and need for God turns weeping
into rejoicing at the great things God does for us.
Drink of God's mercy and turn to the One who
helps us run the race and reach the prize of God's
merciful love.
I would hope that you would talk to me if you have
questions about the renovating of the Church. We
have a committee made up of parishioners who
have been walking with Enrique and myself. We
have also been in touch with the Archdiocese.
Please feel free to come and talk to me or give
me a call about any concern you may have.
Have a blessed week,
Sr. Karen Collier

A Meditation on Lent & the Restoration
of our Church Building
Una meditación de Cuaresma y la Restauración
de Nuestra Iglesia
Fifth Week of Lent
Let the “light” transform you
Quinta Semana de Cuaresma
Deja que la “luz” te transforme
“In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present.”
– Francis Bacon
-Francis Bacon
As we continue in the second part of Lent we continue to
hear in the gospels about how Jesus is being questioned and
tested by the community. We also hear that Jesus says, “I am
the light of the World. Whoever follows me will not walk in
darkness, but will have the light of life.” What is the darkness
in your life and have you invited the light to transform your
darkness? Scripture also tells us that within darkness there is
light. However, you first have to recognize the darkness being present.
Quien me
¿Has invitado a la
Light is a symbol of life, happiness, justice, and the joy of
salvation and liberation in Christ. Darkness is a symbol of
death, disgrace, tears, and imprisonment. Many of us have a
tradition of lighting candles in church and in our homes. The
candle symbolizes the light that comes from Christ and
guides us to true life. We need the light of Christ to live with
wholeness and integrity, and to give a proper value and place
to material things and human activities. The light of Christ
can direct us in our transformation journey.
This coming Monday the church is celebrating the sacrament
of reconciliation. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate. This sacrament allows us to recognize and release
our darkness. I say celebration because it also allows us to be
one with Christ, which is a great celebration.
Questions for this week:
Where in your life do you need the light of Christ?
How can you be light to others during this season of
Lent?
How are you helping the church spread the Light of
Christ?
This weeks Prayer (read slowly):
