Outdoor ‘adventure’ sports have been the big winners of the move to a more ecological lifestyle over
the last few years and our kayaks are a perfect option for anyone wanting to spend time on the water.
Kayak enthusiasts, ever more demanding, want stable, practical, hard-wearing and aesthetically
pleasing boats, but also that respect the environment. The same objectives have guided our kayak
design for some years now, which explains their overwhelming success.
2007 has been another very positive year that has reinforced our position as a leader, and Number 1
innovator in Sit-on-Top kayaks, proven again by the success of the new Kalao, the first family kayak for
three paddlers, with its outstandingly versatile performance and optional electric motor adaptability.
The prestigious “Observeur du Design” award was won by the Yakka, the only semi-rigid kayak on
the market today. That honor adds the Yakka to the previous awards earned by the Ouassou, Bilbao
and Scapa giving the BIC Sport range clear distinction among all brands.
The new wave of interest in kayaks for fishing is reflected in two new, dedicated Bilbao and Kalao
“Fishing” models for 2008.

Sustainable development : a priority for BIC Sport
In order to respect the environment, our kayaks are made
in thermoformed polyethylene, a particularly ecologically
friendly material, as during its production very few hazardous
chemicals are used and there is no wasted material.
Again in the production of the kayak, all excess
material is broken down and recycled back into
the production process, any gas emissions into
the atmosphere are negligible and the water used
for cooling is recycled.

THD - Tri Hull Design : designed for fun
The unique THD shape provides the optimum in speed,
comfort and stability for BIC Sport Kayaks. The result
of over 20 years of BIC Sport watercraft design and
innovation, the THD shape has been developed to
provide improved gliding and stability while maintaining
maneuverability. Inspired from current tri-maran
designs, the THD shape features a central section (1)
for increased gliding, two outside hull sections (2) to
stabilize the kayak and two intermediate concaves (3)
to create lift and an optimal mix of water and air for
heightened performance. On the Ouassou, the design
is revised to feature two
concaves for increased
gliding and lift.

These qualities, coupled with our UV resistant
polyethylene, give BIC Sport kayaks exceptional

sports equipment, BIC Sport has used its vast knowledge

The hulls of the Bilbao and Tobago have clean fluid lines

The seat ergonomics of the whole BIC Sport kayak
range have been particularly developed for optimum
paddling comfort.
• The seat is roomy and comfortable, and is also
inclined and padded to keep the paddler in place, and
relieve leg pressure while using the foot braces.
• The centre of gravity is positioned low for better
stability, but above the flotation line so that the bottom
of the seat stays dry. An optional seat is available as an
accessory to optimize comfort.

The spirit of fun kayaking !
The Ouassou is designed as a versatile, fun kayak with a wide range of use. With its excellent glide, control and
maneuverability, the Ouassou is ideal for beach fun. Also, the stern handles let you hang on and swim and also allow easy
access on board. The Ouassou also handles surf and waves comfortably. The ‘spatula’ shaped hull is derived from surf
longboards and rodeo kayaks. It’s quick and responsive.
The slight keel and lateral rail design provide directional stability and excellent tracking. The Ouassou’s optional knee-strap
system also allows you to secure your body to the cockpit when you are looking for greater control in waves or whitewater.
Its compact form and light weight make this a kayak that is easy to maneuver, transport and store.

The adventure kayak
The Kalao is a veritable 4x4 of the kayak world. Equally at ease on the sea or rivers, for fun or for fishing, it really is the kayak
for all adventures. Like all BIC Sport kayaks it features plenty of innovations. The fluid, stable hull design makes it simple for
a family of two adults and two children to all ride together in complete comfort. That makes it the first true 3 (adult) person
sit-on-top on the market, with 3 proper ergonomic seats. Essentially, the Kalao combines capacity of the old style family canoe,
with the safety of a Sit-on-Top kayak!
The other big first : it can be adapted to take an electric motor. The largely flat hull design with very little water draught is
extremely stable and allows the kayak to go almost anywhere. Such aspects as storing your belongings while kayaking, as well
as carrying and transporting your kayak have all also received detailed attention. The fishing version has numerous additional
features, including : 4 rod positions, 2 large watertight boxes, plenty of storage space... One other important point : it’s unsinkable.

A new idea of kayak
The Yakka was designed for those with limited storage space for their kayak. The principle is similar to other semi
rigid, folding boats: it can be folded and stored in a small space. On the water, the Yakka is a high performance kayak
that glides along on its rigid hull and provides a paddling experience equal to that of standard rigid-form kayaks.

The rigid hull is derived from the BIC Sport kayak tri-maran (THD) design assuring excellent glide and stability.
The Yakka is easy to store
Folded, the Yakka is only 1.50m x 76cm and fits into the car as easily as it fits into the garage, loft or cupboard.
The Yakka is practical to use
Set up and pack down of the Yakka are very simple and can be done in a few minutes. A high quality pump is supplied
with the boat.
The Yakka is safe
Buoyancy and stability are already provided by the rigid hull and are completed by the inflatable section above it.
The Yakka is tough
The inflatable bladder is protected by a hard wearing PVC cover with a high quality finish. The two rigid parts are made
from thermoformed polyethylene, like our other BIC Sport Kayaks.
The first semi rigid kayak
The Yakka is innovative in concept and in design. Apart from its great performance, the rigid hull / soft deck concept gives it
plenty of character and it will quickly become the perfect partner for your water adventures.
The Yakka can be set up in minutes: just unfold the hull sections, secure the center support and inflate the sides.
For pack-down, simply deflate the sides and fold the hull closed.
Once folded, its impact-resistant hull measures only 1.50m (59”) x 76cm (30”) and the inflatable bladders are protected by
the durable and smooth PVC materials. The Yakka is an innovative concept and design that makes paddling accessible and
attractive to a wide range of consumers.
