A
Message from your CEO
Happy New Year!
I am proud to report that 2012 was yet another successful year for Erie Community
Credit Union, thanks to you, our members. I truly hope that you have been able to benefit
from the new products and services introduced in 2012, such as our new user-friendly
website, year-round Skip-A-Pay and the Black Wednesday auto and signature loan specials. We also offered variable-rate home
equity, vacation and holiday loans with rates even lower than our already competitive rates and extended the 1.25% Cash Back Auto
Refinance offer.
“Making Life Better for Erie County” is something we stand behind here at Erie Community Credit Union. With the help of our staff and
members, over $9,500 was given to local charities in 2012. These donations were raised through our employee Jean Fridays and the
charity drives held at our teller lines. Thank you again for your support and generosity!
As we look ahead to 2013, we will explore new avenues for growth and development. We will continue to offer you competitive rates
and special promotions throughout the year. Look for our next newsletter issue or check out our website at www.erieccu.org and stay
informed on the latest CU news and information. We look forward to continuing to provide you with the high quality of products and
services you’ve come to expect as a member of Erie Community Credit Union.
Sincerely,
Rich Wiest, CEO

In The
Community
Muscular Dystrophy Association
The credit union once again participated in the MDA’s annual Shamrock
Against Dystrophy Campaign. Shamrocks were sold in our lobbies from
February 18th through March 17th. A check in the amount of $875 was sent
to our local MDA office—enough to send one child to summer camp.
March for Babies
Erie Community Credit Union participated for the 9th year in a row in the
March of Dimes “March for Babies” walk on Sunday, April 29th. Eighteen
credit union employees and their families walked 6.2 miles around
Presque Isle. The credit union raised $3,431 through Daffins candy bar
sales, employee jean days and pledges obtained from the staff members
who walked.
United Way
The credit union sold Live United t-shirt icons in our lobbies from
July 1st through July 31st. A donation of $400 was sent to the United Way
of Erie County.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
Members and staff raised funds for Saint Vincent Hospital, our local
Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. During August and September,
members purchased 2,349 Daffins candy bars for a $1 donation each.
ECCU employees donated $5 to wear jeans or $20 to wear jeans and
a Miracle Jeans Day t-shirt in September. A total of $2,084 was raised!
Thank you for helping us make a difference.
JDRF
ECCU raised funds to support Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation,
a global leader in supporting research to cure, better treat and prevent
Type-1 Diabetes. Members could purchase a JDRF shoe or a Daffins
candy bar for a donation of $1. All shoes were proudly displayed in our
branches. Several employees raised pledges for the JDRF Walk to Cure
Diabetes in October. A total donation of $1,401.50 was sent to our local
JDRF branch.
Second Harvest Food Bank
Many kids in Erie city schools depend on school lunches for their daily
nutrition and when the weekend comes, many go hungry. The Second
Harvest’s BackPack program gives Erie school kids a backpack full of
healthy food for the weekend. ECCU donated $965.50 to this program
after raising money from Daffins candy bar sales and Jean Fridays
for employees.
Saint Martin Center
Erie Community Credit Union branches sold Daffins candy bars to benefit
St. Martin Center, Inc.’s Shining Star program, which provides gifts to
children in need at Christmas. Candy bars were sold from December 1st
through December 21st. A check for over $650.00 was presented to the
St. Martin Center.
