Dear Members
nd so the scribe
caught me off guard,
it seems to me that they
had such a lot of Turkish
Delight that they are over
excited to send out a
Newsletter before
Silverstrand.
My piece will be short
this month.
Unfortunately our Parks
Convener has resigned
from the committee.
Clive, thanks a lot for
what you have done for
the committee and the
region. Time to sit back
now and just enjoy the
A
rallies. You and Lee
deserve it.
Our Ganzekraal rally
was outstanding. I
believe that Good Hope
was there 21 years ago.
Everybody enjoyed the
rally and a vast majority
want to go back. We as
committee identified the
first weekend in July for
an out of rally get
together at Ganzekraal.
Communication will
follow soon.
While on Ganzekraal,
thanks to all the
marshalls for a lovely
weekend. The curry and
rice was divine.
Our rally at Ou Skip,
weekend of 24 – 26 July
2015 is booked.
However, we cannot get
the first section of the
park closest to the gate,
due to renovations of the
ablutions. The rate for
the weekend is R160,00
per night for 6 people.
We will park in Walvis,
that is across the little
bridge and to your right.
More info will follow
soon.
To all members who
are sick, or have
somebody ill, all the very
best and we pray for a
speedy recovery for you
all.
Billy Duff recently lost
her grandmother. We
extend our heartfelt
condolences to you and
your family, Billy.
Thinking of you all at this
difficult time.
As our AGM is
approaching, we ask that
you please submit your
citations for Rally
Marshall of the Year at
your earliest

What is a Dad?
A dad is someone who wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up, brushes you off,
and lets you try again.
A dad is someone who wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead, lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.
A dad is someone who holds you when you cry, scolds you when
you break the rules, shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail ...

Things to do in Robertson … www.robertsonwinevalley.com/robertson-wineries-accommodation/attractions
Robertson and the surrounding towns like McGregor, Bonnievale and Montagu have a variety of things to do, with or
without the children. Have a look at the above website for some ideas.
A popular outing is a
visit to the
ESELTJIESRUS
Donkey Sanctuary
in McGregor. They
also have a
restaurant and shop.
On the outskirts of Robertson is
BIRD’S PARADISE. Not only do
they have birds from many
countries around the world, there
are plenty of other animals to see.
Restaurant. A great outing for the
whole family.

We love our caravan - its like a second home!
Once a month we load it up-somewhere new to roam.
It’s been all round the Western Cape, to places far and wide,
Across the suburbs to reach the other side.
We take it to the country and to the beaches tooUp and down the busy roads hopefully finding somewhere new!
It’s done some hairy scary stuff - you wouldn’t believe it could,
But it’s a tough old thing and does everything just like it should!
It’s had it’s share of knocks, brown dust, dents and dings,
But it’s amazing how when said and done - the freedom that it brings!
We love the outdoor life, the sunrise and the sunset.
It’s all there waiting for us, in the summer and the wet.
The wildflowers by the roadside after winter rain,
We cant wait to head out and see it all again!
You hear of people saying how they yearn to be like us,
The folks who live like gypsies in their caravan or bus!
So good people when we pass you on the road, we’ll exchange a wave or two,
‘Cos’ we love caravanning - just as much as you!

Rally Review May Rally
Ganzekraal
22 - 24 May 2015
Welcome back to Ganzekraal Good Hope,
after so many years. So many changes, some
positives and of course the negatives. But, the
view makes up for all the negatives, right on the
waters edge, with the waves lulling one to sleep
at night!
A good turnout of 24 Good Hopers with no
visitors.
Friday evening get-together was a rather chilly
one being out in the open with the fresh sea air,
but the warmhearted folk made up for it,
enjoying catching up with all the news from
fellow caravanners. Tea/coffee and biscuits
was on offer, which most enjoyed especially
holding the mugs to warm one hands. A great
time was had by all!
Saturday morning everyone awoke to a
really cold morning, that of course pleased
most as it gave one a good enough reason to
sleep in late.
contd. on pg 6
Someone’s been shopping ...
Congratulations ...
to Hillton & Marcelle Hans on their new tow vehicle;
and to Alex and Billy Duff on their new Fleetline
caravan.
May you all have many ‘miles’ of safe towing and
happy camping, with Good Hope of course!

Rally Review (contd.)
The children’s activity was
exploring the park and
surrounding area and
seeing what ‘natural
treasurers’ they could
find. This included some
energetic moms and
dads who accompanied
them.
The rest of the day
was spent chilling and
chatting until the
afternoon sports gathering. Hmmm, our diehard rugby supporters most certainly didn’t
disappoint. Always a pleasure seeing ‘our men’
enjoying the rugby, even if they tend to be a little
verbal!
Six o’clock, time for yummy starters supplied by the
marshalls. Mince curry and rice deliciously made,
even catering for the folk who enjoy spicy food and
the not so spicy. More spoils from the marshalls! Of
course there’s always space for a braai though.
The weekend ended on the Sunday with the usual
format of Sunday School and Church. This was
followed by Chairman’s that was ‘conducted’ by
Bridgette and Warren, with thanks.
Fines Person Karen Runnalls, supported by Judge
Margaret Miles, successfully boosted the coffers
once again. Thanks for that Karen and Margaret.
A superb weekend enjoyed by all.
Thank you marshalls Hillton & Marcelle Hans and
Nigel & Lorna Hankey and families for the sterling
job and not forgetting the spoils!

Some interesting facts about
CROCODILES!
help the croc find his way
to the beach
Crocodiles are reptiles.
The physical characteristics of crocodiles make
them good predators.
Crocodiles are fast over short distances.
Crocodiles have sharp teeth.
Crocodiles have the strongest bite of any animal
in the world.
The muscles that open crocodiles jaws however
are not so powerful, reasonably strong people
could hold a crocodiles jaw closed with their
bare hands.
Like other reptiles, crocodiles are cold-blooded.
Crocodiles can survive for a long time without
food.
Most crocodiles live in fresh water rivers and
lakes but some live in salt water.
Crocodiles eat a variety of fish, birds and other
animals.
Crocodiles release heat through their mouths
rather than through sweat glands.
The saltwater crocodile is the largest species of
crocodile.
Some crocodile species can weigh over 1200 kg
(2600 lb).
