Why choose for a
Brittany golfing break?
There are lots of reasons why! Carefully designed courses suitable for all levels can be found
across the region nestled among spectacular scenery. Uncrowded greens, inexpensive fees
and easy access combine to make the region a natural choice. The lure of a warm welcome
and fine gastronomy should seal the deal. Brittany’s courses give the golfer a unique experience – and some unforgettable holes.
Whether it’s the 11th at Pléneuf-Val-André or the 6th at Dinard, there are certain holes that will stay
with you and make your golfing break one to remember. The courses are shaped by the local landscape and so expect all the challenges along with the most of the spectacular natural surroundings.

For a guide to Brittany’s best golf courses
and how to make the most of the Breton 19th hole,
www.golf-brittanytourism.com
Golf in Brittany is first and foremost about enjoying the game – and we all know that the game
isn’t over until the 19th hole has been played. The Bretons’ renowned hospitality extends to the
clubhouses with a post-round debrief over a Breton-brewed beer and selected golf courses offer spa treatments or a pool to help you wind down. The atmosphere is relaxed and Brittany’s
clubhouses are open to all. All that golf works up an appetite and you certainly won’t go hungry in
Brittany. The Bretons take their food very seriously and you’ll be spoilt for choice whether you eat
at the golf club or venture further afield.

Domaine des Ormes
An opportunity to discover three high quality
courses in the heart of Mont St Michel Bay
and close to Saint-Malo, the ‘corsair city’.
Dinard Golf
Domaine des Ormes is situated in the middle of a chateau estate that is now a holiday resort. The course weaves
around glorious and mature
parkland: majestic 300-yearold trees, beautiful flowerbeds
and delightful lakes.
Established in 1887, Dinard is France’s second-oldest club
and is steeped in history. With sandy turf, rolling fairways,
classic pot bunkering, wonderful sea views, heather, gorse
and small, well-defended greens, it has everything you would
expect of a premium world famous course.
Saint-Malo Golf Resort
On the edge of the Mesnil forest and bordering the lovely
Lake Mirloup, the principal 18-hole course covers 250 acres
and is thought to be the largest in Brittany. Designed by Hubert Chesneau, the architect of the famous Golf National near
Paris, the 6700-yard course has the feel of an old established
estate with a majestic lake adding an extra touch of class.

Rennes, the festive and trendy capital of Brittany,
is surrounded by three quality golf courses.
Golf Blue Green
Rennes Saint-Jacques

and welcoming club. As well as the main
course there are two other nines, one of
which is a pitch and putt.
Exclusive golf Cicé-Blossac
Golf de la Freslonnière
Although it sounds like a French movie
star, Cicé Blossac is quite American in
style. The greens and tees are built upon
sand, comply with USGA standards, are
very fast draining making them playable
year round. Five miles south-west of
Rennes, this par 72, 6127-yard course
is eminently walkable.
Always presented in immaculate condition, la Freslonnière, designed by Alain
du Bouexic and opened in 1989, makes
wonderful use of its considerable natural
assets.
With the course winding its way through
the forest, the fairways are pretty tight
and tree-lined.

of nature for you to explore and colourful local traditions to discover. Cradled by the sea and bathed in
sunlight, Cornouaille is also a little piece of heaven
for golfers!
Golf de Cornouaille

Designed by the famous course architect Fred
Hawtree and opened just over 50 years ago,

course on Brittany’s glorious south coast. Lying
within the Fouesnant forest and alongside the
Bay of Concarneau, it measures 6200 yards.
An exceptionally friendly club with a splendid
clubhouse.
Carved out of more than 250 acres of beautiful pine and oak woodland, this parkland
challenge provides a thorough examination
to test both the best and the rest. Large bunkers, lakes, generous fairways, well-protected
greens and many trees combine to create a
delightful course in the most attractive of settings.
Golf Blue Green Val Quéven
Golf Blue Green Ploemeur Océan
Designed by Yves Bureau, Val Quéven rolls
around the gently undulating Scorff valley. Right
at the very heart of the Breton countryside, this
beautifully landscaped course contains a number of fine oaks and horse-chestnut trees in a
pleasantly wooded setting.
A delightfully attractive seaside course not far
from Lorient, Ploemeur Océan is an absolute
joy to play. Half the holes are more or less
genuine links on proper sandy soil while the
other half are inland and almost parkland in
character.
