A TRADITION OF GIVING
CARING FOR THE MIDLANDS
Partners with Youth Campaign is an annual
volunteer fundraising campaign to assist people in our
community in their time of need.
At the YMCA, no one who qualifies is turned away due
to an inability to pay. We believe in helping all people
lead healthier, happier lives. Whether someone’s hardship
arises from a layoff, an illness or other financial challenge,
the YMCA strives to assist anyone in need of our programs
and fellowship.
Partners with Youth Campaign supports individuals
and families of all ages.
NEW IDEAS
LIFE-CHANGING IMPACT
In 2009, the YMCA of Columbia provided approximately
$350,000 in financial assistance to almost 6,200
participants including youth, families, adults and seniors
in our community.
Thanks to our donors, we turned no one who
qualified away due to an inability to pay. Please join
us in 2010 to continue our tradition of helping those in
need in our community. You can have
an immediate, life-changing impact!
We build strong kids,
strong families,
strong communities.
TATIYAhNA’s STORY
LAST FALL ONEykE SHARED…
My daughter Tatiyahna has a rare form of terminal cancer
of the spinal cord. Experimental medications, with the
potential to prolong or save her life, are not covered by
our medical insurance. Although her father is a successful
chiropractor, the doctor’s visits and medications have
overwhelmed our family. We are having trouble paying
our bills and keeping our home.
The YMCA has played an important role in our lives.
Please consider our request for a scholarship so that
our family can stay involved in the YMCA during this
very difficult time.
This fall…
We truly thank God for what the YMCA has done for
our family over the past year. We have suffered greatly
as a family and it is the Christian values of the
YMCA that continue to give us hope.
“IT GAVE Us STAbIlITY”
LIFE-CHANGING IMPACT
Over the last 12 months, the YMCA provided my family
with hot water and a shower daily. It kept our children
in afterschool care so I could go to work. It gave our
family stability and hope during our darkest times.
I have since found a part-time commission-based job
and my husband continues to work hard to support our
family. Although things are currently looking up, we still
need help. We have already amassed a tremendous
amount of medical debt and will never be completely
free of the expenses associated with this illness.
I’m pleased to tell you that Tatiyahna is still with us and
her tumor has not grown. It is nothing short of a miracle.
We have suffered greatly as a family and the Christian
values of the YMCA continue to give us hope. Thank
you for being there for us.
