Inspection, study and diagnosis of the current situation in the Telecarrier data
center, owned by Cable Onda, which has a white space of approximately 1400
m2 distributed in 3 rooms, from which mission-critical services are provided for
government, banking and commercial customers.
The premise of our recommendations was the continuous operation of the data
center and risks mitigation.
The recommendations issued by Instaelectric included a considerable improvement
in energy efficiency, with a quick return on investment.

systems through an exclusive network, able to transmit high-quality data, voice
or images. By 1998, Impsat Corp was billing 160 million dollars a year, and was

Revision of drawings in stages of schematic and construction design for every
area or discipline (Telecommunications, Automation, Safety, Electricity, Fire

INGENIUM, in order to adjust the design parameters according to the regulations

Adaptation of the network operations center, designed to operate continuously
during 24 hours, 365 days a year. This room is essential since it supports
fundamental areas of the customers’ operations.
The NOC was built in Caracas, in the BANAVEN center and it included
telecommunications infrastructure solutions, specialized energy and cooling
systems, which respected the highest levels of quality required in order to
guarantee the continuous operation of Venezuela’s third telecommunications
company.

This room consolidates SIDOR’s network connectivity, the building’s control
systems, and distributes them to predetermined areas of the company as a
convergence point.
SIDOR, a company for the production of steel with direct reduction technologies
and electric arc furnaces, is a part of the Corporación Venezolana de Guayana
(CVG), a technological partner of Instaelectric since 1989.

Inspection, diagnosis and evaluation of the power generation, transformation and
distribution systems associated to the main data center of Ciudad Banesco located
in Caracas, encompassing the physical support infrastructure, power, mechanical
and telecommunications system of the 529 m2 Ciudad Banesco data center,
which includes the following:
Three 12.47kV/480V sub-stations, with nominal transformation capacities of 2000
kVA, 2000 kVA and 1250 kVA
Generation and co-generation system with a 4000 kVA installed capacity
•UPS systems with a 925 kVA installed capacity
Heat analysis of the data center, installed capacity survey of the precision cooling
system and heat load evaluation. BANESCO is Venezuela’s biggest banking group,
with 473 agencies in the country and a 14% share of the market.

Energy audit of Bancaribe’s main
office
BANCARIBE, 2010, VENEZUELA
Diagnosis of the current state of BANCARIBE’s electrical installations, specifically
at the power sub-station level, back-up energy system, UPS and power plant.
Survey and inspection of the current state of said systems and their measurement,
control and protection components, aimed at verifying their proper operation
and the compliance with the established regulations of the national electric code,
regarding energy quality, conditions and vulnerability of installations.
Additionally, the weak spots directly affecting the continuity of the bank’s
operations were analyzed, as to recommend the necessary corrections to be
made in order to safeguard BANCARIBE’s electrical system.

Detailed engineering for the construction of the 170 m2-CANTV data center.
The work was based on designs, calculations, technical specifications, descriptive
memories, cost estimation, plant drawings, and details regarding the following:
• Electrical system for powering 48 high-density racks, (2) 500 kVA UPS
• Air conditioning system of (16) in row precision units, under the cold aisle
containment scheme
• Fire detection and extinction system using FM200
• Horizontal structured wiring system
• Grounding system design for the exclusive use of the data center
Back-up data center risk
analysis
BANCO NACIONAL DE CRÉDITO (BNC), 2012, VENEZUELA
A study of the risks associated to the BNC’s back-up data center location was
performed, and it was compared to the current location of the main data center.
The possibility that both centers might be affected by the same contingency was
evaluated, in order to have a thorough analysis that fulfills the request made by
the Venezuelan Superintendence of Banks (SUDEBAN).

for the main and back-up data
centers
BANCO FONDO COMÚN (BFC), 2012, VENEZUELA
Four possible locations for the back-up data center were evaluated; they were
compared with the main data center in order to define the location in the
interior regions of the country with the lowest level of risk in case of a natural or
man-made catastrophe. The Uptime Institute standards on data center operational
sustainability were respected, and the risk and impact levels were verified for each
section establishing a mitigation mechanism.
